If we didn’t get the first down, AGAIN, the game may have turned out differently.

I think in this situation the play should be run and the unprepared referees could go to review to see if anything needed to be addressed. No way the offense should be zinged due to the officials not doing their job! Rule change!

I've seen plays called back when the offense snaps it before the refs have whistled the ball live/ready for play, but not an explanation like that one.

They spotted the ball ready for play. It was one of the most incompetent things I’ve ever seen an officiating crew do.
