If we go winless the rest of the season, and the games are not close…

Bc it’s a message board, talking about a school we all love, and a program with massive potential that in year five of GS 2.0, is not living up to expectations
But you can.. and have said that many times already. So now you make up this hypothetical just to discuss putting Schiano on the hot seat yet again.

So you're okay w/this season?
In year 5 of GS 2.0?
When we've had our most talented team during his second tenure?
With a schedule that lined up perfectly without playing the Big 3?
Gotcha

You are being dense and pedantic. It seems you are using Rutgers seasons as a salve for FSU, which is a much worse failure and the biggest butt of jokes in college football.

Losing Toure for the entire season and six or seven injuries to key starters on defense explains the losses. And for the same reason Napier is not getting fired at Florida and your shitty coach at FSU is not getting fired, Schiano is not getting fired. Throw in we don't have an AS and we have a lame duck President, no major move will be made this year.

Holy Strawman, talk about taking two things that aren't even remotely close to mutually exclusive and twisting them for your own personal narrative

Clearly someone pissed in your cheerios or some sand from the beach ended up slipping through your panties in your sandy vag. Extra tampons (or diapers for someone of advanced age) next time could prevent such discomfort on a sun splashed Friday morning.

Re. FSU football, I've said countless times what's happening in Tallahassee is not acceptable
Mike will get it fixed, and fixed soon, or Mike will no longer be employed
End of story

Re. Rutgers, of course losing Toure was huge. But this year lined up perfectly
Year 5 of GS 2.0 (his 20th as a head coach BTW), different coordinators, upgraded QB, stout running game, solid lines, easy schedule

Losing to Nebby - blew it
Sconnie - punched us in the mouth, it happens
UCLA - completely unacceptable
SC - never in the game

If you're ok w/the results, great
I'm not. Our potential is through the roof. We have the ability to do great things here OTB.
I give time. Money. Emotion. And wait 12 months/year for football
I don't like losing. And I certainly don't like underachieving, especially when we have the ability, and in year 5 of GS 2.0, should be much better than we've shown

Worry about the record-breaking drought and possible fires you'll be on call for and leave the football talk to the big kids

Nope. None of the above. Happier than I have ever been. As for FSU fans?

----NOPE--the only thing that blows is FSU and Norvell

Sconnie - punched us in the mouth, it happens
--You use some weird names for teams, but whatever. Agree here. WTF Game.

UCLA - completely unacceptable
----100% wrong. UCLA is improving, and their record was based on playing top tier teams.

SC - never in the game
------------Absolutely incorrect. Rutgers was down by a TD in third quarter. Hyperbole again

I'm telling you man, stick to fires and real estate

You exposed your lack of football knowledge with your rabid defense of Hobbs handling of NIL and are doubling down on something that's not debatable - re. nicknames for schools, I'm not the one that coined them, if you follow college fb outside of Piscataway (which, clearly you don't, and even here, you are genuinely clueless), you'd know they're fairly common terms

Completely blew it vs Nebby - one of the more frustrating games I've seen in awhile
Agree on Sconnie
UCLA - Just stop
SC - Down by a TD and never threatened - re watch the game, they're not good

At worst, we should be 6-2

Time to put you and your double name on ignore. When you get owned, your resort to insults. Learn to discuss with reason, not emotion. Obviously, you are triggered whenever Failing Sucks University gets brought up.

UCLA lost to Indiana, LSU, Oregon, Penn State and by 4 to Minnesota. People like you who don't understand that the quality of the opponents matter. They have obviously improved as the season has progressed.

You were not at the Nebraska game, so just STFU already.

Go kiss Norvell's ass some more. Done with your sorry ass.

Pathetic, bud. You and other apologists will never accept the simple fact that the guy can’t compete. Take a look at the combined conference records of the B10 the last few years, and then embarrass yourself even more by making the same lame excuses for the buffoon.
Who is more pathetic, GS for getting paid $35M for breathing, Al for stating facts you don’t like ‘cause they conflict with your hatred of GS, or you for being so obsessed with hating GS while he doesn’t even know you exist? Hm… 🙂

Let's recap
For the people in the back...

KN slings personal insults at JD
JD fires back, but attempts to engage in actual football talk post missile launch
KN replies with meme's and more hyperbole
JD again attempts to talk football

KN takes his ball and goes home (or maybe to the firehouse), which is a move even my school aged daughter wouldn't pull

A grown man, who started the conversation by trying to hose the other man, putting the other man on ignore simply b/c they disagree on the premise of football....

There you have it folks
I've seen some corny things on this board, but this one might take the cake

Start a shitty thread to lick your own FSU wounds, don't be surprised at the responses. Gave you valid answers why Greg is going nowhere, but you act like a little kid who didn't get their favorite toy for their birthday . You just want to keep stirring a pot that won't boil. Enjoy your FSU suckfest .

Wait, I thought I was going on ignore???
it's ok - maybe the residual smoke got to your head and you forgot

Again, it's not a mutually exclusive issue here
It's a reasonable question to ask in year 5 of GS 2.0

I'm not ok with Quick Lane, Pinstripe, Independence type bowls
You might be - and that's your prerogative
But I'm not - I want better for this program, and aren't willing to settle for mediocrity

Pro tip - if you want reasonable football talk, don't start the conversation by hurling insults

Next time, if you'd simply state to the masses "Hi JayDog, I know that you know (and most on this board know) that I'm an idiot {not in real life, I'm actually pretty intelligent, but when it comes to football, I have no early idea what the hell I'm talking about} that feels the need to respond to damn near every thread, but please enlighten me on your views), then Jay would be happy to talk ball

However, if you feel to the need to start out the conversation with insults, then don't act surprised and play the woe is me, babe in the woods routing when Jay decides to respond back accordingly

$35M more starting next year just for breathing and Pollyanna Adonis Al of La Fieldhouse with his Wimsatt Fathead imaginary boyfriend are pathetic. Shelby doesn't hate. Shelby speaks truth.

You keep making stupid, unfounded assumptions about what I think and what I accept, and false narratives about other stuff. Again, take a look in the mirror. You are a butthurt FSU fan tagging along on a Rutgers board trying to draw some relationship to FSU's horrible year and Rutgers' season. You are an annoying twit.

B/c of this, I truly think that, despite your best efforts to deny it, deep down...you have a special affinity for JayDog

Anyway, nobody is butthurt
I've said repeatedly on here what is happening in Tallahassee is disgraceful
On no planet is it normal, nor reasonable, nor acceptable

And, regardless of my feelings towards Mike (I really like him, believe in him, and feel he'll turn it around), this is a business.
And he's being compensated accordingly to produce - wins and losses count, and he's certainly fallen short of the standard this season (just like, despite your best efforts to deflect it, Greg has)

Re. Rutgers, I have season tickets for football (since 2004), men's basketball, wrestling and lacrosse
I donate to the R Fund and KOR

And, as multiple posters can attest on this board (Beta, Spank, BEP, Dollar), I typically go to games by myself - not a badge of honor, but none of my friends are Rutgers fans and aren't interested in attending

We can discuss Rutgers football, or you can keep coming back for more - it's up to you
JD is a man of the people - and willing to turn the other cheek if Smokey the Bear does the same

In this case, people here hate and reject the truth Shelby tells. How many more years before they see the elephant in the room ? Or will they ever stop moving the goalposts ? It’s been 5 years, as long as most HC contracts. Can’t blame anyone else anymore. It’s him.

He's not going anywhere for years. Yet you can barely post without hating on him or anybody who refuses to join in the hate.

What positive benefit is there there to any sports fan blaming anybody for anything related to sports? None. This is an unarguable bit of logic some people seem unable to grasp.

You might want to stop blaming others and engage in some introspection about your own life choices. I mean, unless you find 24/7 hate-posting rewarding in some way, which I'm guessing you don't since it would be pretty delusional to do so and you don't appear to be delusional, just troublingly obsessive.

Point is, he's not going anywhere anytime soon so maybe you should just switch to being a fan of some other team until then rather than engage in such ugly public behavior. I mean, do what you want. It's just a suggestion aimed at helping you live a happier hate-free life is all.

You're welcome for this excellent advice.

What difference does it make if fans are okay with the season or not? GS isn’t going anywhere anytime soon either way.

You weren’t asking me, but I’m always happy no matter what happens with any sports team. Which I guess means that yes, I am okay with this season. For any fan, winning is more fun that losing. But I keep it in its proper perspective. I have no control over the team or who the coach is, so I’m not about to let it bother me.

A fan can only make a difference by voting with their wallet. Beyond that, it doesn’t matter if a fan is okay or not okay with the team.

Fans pay the bills
When fans stop showing up, buying tix and merch, concessions, and donating $$, things happen
With NIL, we as fans no do have control over things we previously did not have control of

This is weird. Why are Jaydog's (or anyone's for that matter) takes not valid because he follows two teams?
KN's theory is I'm salty b/c FSU sucks this year, and am taking my frustrations out on St. Gregory and his devoted cult of followers (also known as the grouch old guys on this board)

In reality, I'm salty b/c we (Rutgers) are massively underachieving, in GS's 5th year back OTB, with a very favorable schedule and the most talent we've ever had

Yes, we've been hit with injuries
But my frustration lies with Greg's inability to adequately adapt to modern college football

How we traditionally play in bowl games, and specifically the first half of OSU last year (sans the red zone trips), is awesome
But unforthately with Greg, that's not the norm

He thinks this is still 1986 in Happy Valley, learning under Joe Pa, who, in case he missed the memo, actually had the horses to play that way, and moreover, that way doesn't work anymore in the modern game

If that's not clear as day to KN and the rest of the guys who drink the Kool-Aid and suck Greg off, I don't know what to tell them

You seem especially active in spreading misery.. is it because of Florida State's struggles?
You sound like KS
I'm not spreading anything, I just want results

Year 5, most talented team in GS 2.0, easy schedule
Not too difficult to understand to those of us who want to, and expect to, win

Fans pay the bills

Yes, all fans can do is vote with their wallet. But our fans don't donate enough, don't buy enough tickets or buy enough merchandise to matter. Not in the NIL era or really ever. Not like fans of the elite Big Ten schools, at least. If 1/2 the current season ticket holders stopped buying tickets, it wouldn't make that big a difference right now. Pretty sure GS would still be here for at least 3 more years.

The only way fans can make a difference right now is to buy the team the same number of elite players from the transfer portal and through HS recruitment that all the elite teams have. Pretty sure if we did that, the team, even with GS coaching, would win a lot more games and regularly compete much better with the elite teams. Even in seasons when we have lots of injuries we'd be a lot better.

The thing is, without enough NIL funding, I don't think there's a coach alive that can make a big difference. Where great coaching would matter would be if we were good enough and deep enough to compete with the elites but not able to win the conference or get to the playoffs. GS, despite me not wanting him back, despite all the fans crapping on him these days, has actually demonstrated that he can produce a great season if he has the horses. He just might not be a good enough game day coach to beat other elite team's coaches even with equivalent players.

Anyway, what fans think or how they feel is mostly irrelevant these days. The only thing getting RU out of the basement is NIL funding.

I'm not saying people should donate. Just pointing out the reality of the situation. Fans don't control the hiring/firing of the coach. They do control how much they choose to donate and our fans don't donate anywhere near enough.

If we go winless the rest of this season and winless next season …he is still coaching here in 2026
I agree with that prediction.
Rutgers won't buy out contracts and but will try for cause firings ,a tactics that usually doesn't work out as planned and when it does Rutgers still pays part of the remaining contract instead of not having to pay anything.

Well try telling them the 4 upcoming games are hopeless and 1 win is the best that can be expected even though Rutgers might stand a chance to win two of them and maybe turn it around enough to go 7-5 for the year.
You might not know what to tell "KN and the rest of the guys who drink the Kool-Aid and suck Greg off",
but I do:
Keep on supporting the program and stand by Schiano until the hope is gone , then make up your mind about where the program stands with G-2 in charge.
Don't let a poster that's constantly whining how FSU is doing and claiming Rutgers losses become thge games are played make you rush out waving a white flag and looking to tar and feather Greg so Norvel
has company in the smooth dog house.
I don't know if RU can win 4 or will lose all 4, but I won't call the games before they are played nor will I make like those with hope the season will end with a bowl game victory are fools
FSU might suck this year, but aI won't have that make it easier for me to put Rutgers in the same failure catogary, but will admit I'm a little disapointed about the 4 game skid and neededing to win 2 of the last 4 games just to break even . After going 4-0 I felt confident of RU being bowl eligible by now, so I'm disapointed it's not but not enough to call it a season before the 12 game is played.

Nobody’s tar and feathering Schiano
Coming off the bye, I fully expect us to play well tomorrow and get the win - GS generally has the boys ready to go after bye weeks

Is that being a homer?
Probably yes, if we’re going by the spread, momentum and Minnesota’s recent results

But what we’ve seen through 8 games is a lot of what we’ve seen throughout both of his tenures here

The man isn’t coaching for free

For that type of money and job security, I expect results - and by results, w the talent on this team and the schedule we have this year, that means wins

Agree NIL money will bring the type of talent that make programs winners with the right HC
Rutgers was considered a sleeping giant pre NIL days and never woke up to be announce the best.
The chances of NIL money making the giant wake up is to be seen, since historically Rutgers has
had a hard time getting heavy hitters to donate and large corporations located in NJ to support Rutgers athletics..
Hopefully that changes and their funding NILs will make this program one of the elites or at least a program that is a constant bowl participant and occasionally considered playoff material

Greg Schiano took over one of the worst college football programs and made it a respectably one
G-1 had his first winning year in his fifth year, and RU'S first bowl game in 27 years, then went on to qualify for minor bowl games for 4 years in a row 5 out of his last 6.
Schiano 1 built up expectations of greatness but never reached them before he left for the pro game and
never proved he could build an elite program in which pissed a lot of fans off whe expected greatness instead of the program under him just be considered a respectable one but not one deserving of BCS Bowl bids.

This second go around has seen the same type of expectations arrive before this season started because of last year's bowl team and the type of schedule it's playing this season.
I understand your frustration, I am pissed as well , over starting off 4-0 and dropping the next 4 with the type of schedule being played.

G-2 did bring RU to his send bowl game in the 4th year he was back and even if the bowl game RU played in his 2nd year deserves a *, it was a bowl invite and had most of the fanbase excited.
Greg , in my opinion, isn't the type of HC that builds elite programs, but can make a fairly good program out of one that was among the bottom of barrel when he took it over .
Hopefully he'll prove he's doing the same this year by winning at least 2 out on Rutgers last 4 games

As for his getting an extension, I felt then as I do now that he needed to have more than one winning year to deserve the type of extension he received and a one year rollover with a slight salary increase would nave been the better option.

College football programs are putting themselves in a bind by handing out raises and extensions after one good season only to see the team regress and be stuck with the HC because that extension made firing the HC and staff to expensive because of the extension made the buyout too heavy to afford.
The extension Schiano received put Rutgers in that category and we can only hope G-2 can do in the B1G what G1 did in the BE and not expect a playoff type program under him and when his contract expires replace him with someone who can , paying what it takes, if Greg doesn't make RU a program considered better than just trying to make minor bowl games

Indeed he did, and I've given him the credit he deserves for it ad nauseum on this board
He was 10000 % the right man for the job in 2019; and arguably, the only guy (outside of Saban or Vince Lombardi) who could have built, then rebuilt, our program

Unfortunately though, he is still stuck in his old ways
Reminds me a lot of Kirk Ferenz - great man, knows D, decent coach, guys play hard, churns out NFL talent... but consistently shits the bed when it counts

I don't believe he's the guy to take us to the promised land
I'd love to be wrong, and would gladly come here to eat crow if I am - but I just don't see it w/him

If schiano or any Rutgers can do what Ferentz has done at Iowa , we would sign for that in a second .

Schiano is not getting fired anytime
Soon . I get your passion. , but you are wasting energy in your fingers typing it

conference records don’t matter while we are building the program. Talent issues will be resolved by the incoming class and that’s what matters most. We know the issues and fixes are on the way.

As for qb, We brought in a guy that had a relationship with our OC, and was appropriate to our purse. He has performed to expectations and has an opportunity to excel these last four games.
WTF ? You are absolutely clueless.
