There's more than 1 way to look at this.
RU can finish 7th through 9th, much easier than finishing last. Ohio State and Minnesota are both 7-9 and Illinois is now cooled off and 6-10......If RU wins over Minnesota, they're 1 game behind in the win column with both Ohio State and Minnesota & would have 6 wins with Illinois.
Minnesota has @ Rutgers tonight, @ Northwestern, home for Purdue and @ Maryland.
Minnesota could win 2, just 1 or actually with some luck go against them, lose all 4. I don't see a scenario where Minnesota wins 3 out of 4 or all 4.
Ohio State has Iowa at home, @ Purdue, @ Northwestern and home for Wisconsin.
For the Buckeyes, while I think they'll win at Northwestern since they just beat them by 15 the other night, i don't see them winning at Purdue. Wisconsin and Iowa at home should be at worse 1-1, but if you told me Ohio State lost 3 of their final 4 games, it wouldn't be that surprising with Wisconsin and Iowa capable of winning on the road.
Illinois has @ Purdue, Northwestern at home, Indiana at home and then @ PSU.
I thought Illinois would have a real chance at Wisconsin and it appears that game, took something out of them, by losing to Penn State at home....Georgi has returned from orbit and back to normal levels. I think they get a split of final 4 but Indiana has to win another game along the way ( i think), so it's not impossible for Indiana to with at Champaign. They could also win 3 of their final 4, including revenge at PSU for yesterday.
It's always easier to look at the positive sides of the standings and best case, vs worrying about things you cannot control with the teams behind you in the standings.
The reality is RU just has to win or continue to progress in these last 4 games....while a lot of these teams are playing as well as they can, I still see more upside with RUs frosh, that can take it up another level.
RU and Penn State's frosh have done the most in the last month or so, to change their fortunes and have impressed me the most. I'm still waiting on Indiana and Northwestern's freshman to step up, to date, neither class overall has jumped into the lineups to make the impact, I think many expected.
