Mine is Molly Miller of the Grand Canyon Antelopes (WAC)
She's only 38 and has a 85–35 for 5 full years, not including the 24-2 record this season which makes it 109-37 there ( as of now)
Including her Division II record 180–17 in 5 years as Dury's HC , she's 289–54 overall in 11 years

If they do decide to move on, my pick would be Carla Berube from Princeton. Check out her record, both at Princeton and Tufts before that, a true winner!

I’m not really in tune to the coaches out there but what about a top assistant from one of the top teams in the country?

Would be a good choice.
I picked Molly because she is an up and coming coach ready for a bigger program in my opinion.
A proven winner that won't break the bank right now and might be a year or two away from being a hot coaching candidate for top programs liking for someone
One thing I add to qualifications is willing to work for a smaller salary that the top candidates, but be just as deserving.
Top assistants might want more then RU us willing to pay and won't gamble their career for low wages while RU might not want a give a long term contract to bring a top assistant to coach after buying out Washington
I'm hoping ( if job comes open) Miller would be willing to take a gamble her career for around double her current $250,000 salary and feel she could make a big name for herself at Rutgers
Top assistants might want top dollar and Rutgers does like to go cheap.
So thar's why a small school coach that has been very successful that looks ready to move up instead of a top assistant.
Which assistant(s) do you think would be a good choice
Carly Thibault-DuDonis(Fairfield) mentioned in another thread would be a good choice and might be a better fit seeing she's coaching an East Coast school in Connecticut and played for Monmouth

Carly Thibault-DuDonis would deserve an interview. But Carly will likely have a new job by the time Rutgers gets around to looking for a new women's basketball coach.

3 years of head coaching experience, all at Fairfield

2022-2023 15-15
2023-2024 31-2, including 78-54 beatdown of Rutgers at RAC, 29 game win streak, first ever top 25 ranking
2024-2025 22-3

Assistant coach experience in B1G, SEC, ACC
Played college ball at Monmouth
From basketball coaching family

Miller's an interesting case where I think her religion may play a pretty major role in where she takes her next job, if she even does move in the next cycle or two. Would love her here, but it'd be a huge geographic and cultural change for her and her young family (not to mention the change in competition too).

I'd also be surprised to see a top assistant take the job. Even though I don't personally want this, I think it ends up being a boring bridge hire to bring some stability, whenever it does happen. I'm still of the view she gets another year (even though the returning roster's looking incredibly grim) but would be curious to see how the Kiyomi saga shakes out, and what effect it might have.

Washington is here for another season. We won't hire a new coach until we have a new AD. We won't have a new AD until we have a new President which we won't have until June.

Unfortunately it’s going to be till August minimum till we have a new AD and there are other sports that need a change but not going to happen
The other issue for new AD is Hobbs gave out contract extension like candy so we are financially hamstrung

Agree, like who should be next HC threads started on college football message boards covering all sports, this thread ,started by me, was a dream scenario hoping the school would make a change and who would be the best candidate for the position needing to be changed.
I posted my thoughts that included my feeling RU would be hiring on the cheap ,because of having to pay Quese a buyout , and who might be willing to accept what RU offered to make a major move up in their career

No harm in dreaming as long as folks realize they really don’t know what the candidate pool is going to be like when we are actually ready to hire.

by the time the change comes, candidates of today will be at new gigs and we'll be talking about new candidates considered best available for the job.

I can't take another year of the this coach. She was a mistake hire and has proved why. Unfortunately it looks like we are stuck with her for at least one more year at least until RU gets its administrative house in order. I dread sitting thru next year.

Coach's 3-year stint here wiill end 30-64, 9-45 Conference. Penn State will be her last game.
Washington agreed to a six-year contract from 2022-23 through 2027-28.
Expect Rutgers to keep her for the 2025-26 & 2026-27 seasons and replace her for the 2027-28 season .
Rutgers doesn't like to give buyouts

That’s a lot of bad basketball.
