Awesome, jam packed day of Bowl games ! Not sure how 5-7 N Tex St makes the Heart of Dallas Bowl (being played at the Cotten Bowl), but oh well. The games are matchups are getting better as the Bowl season progresses. Mostly great games so far. Stock up the Fridge w beer and snacks, and enjoy about 15 hours of College football ! Next month at this time you will have about 8 months to wait for another game .

Taking a quick-hit look at the Dec. 27 bowl menu, which features just the second ranked team to play in the postseason as well as two ACC teams along with one each from the Big 12 and SEC.

WHO: Army (7-5) vs. North Texas (5-7)
WHAT: The 6th Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl
WHERE: Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas
WHEN: 11 a.m. ET on ESPN
THE SKINNY: This is one of those unique bowl games in which there’s very tangible recent history on which to look back on — North Texas easily handled Army 35-18 in Denton in Week 7 of the 2016 season, thanks in very large part to a whopping seven Black Knight turnovers. Since that win, UNT has stumbled while Army hasn’t, with the former going 1-4 down the stretch and the latter 3-2. Army is easily one of my favorite stories of the 2016 college football season, though, with the service academy winning at least seven games — two of those came against FCS teams, it should be noted — for the first time since 2010 and just the third time in nearly three decades; an eighth win would be the program’s most since going 10-2 during the 1996 season. They capped off this bounceback regular season in the best way possible, too, beating Navy and snapping a 14-game losing streak in the rivalry game in the process. While it came in a sub-.500 season, the Mean Green will be playing in a bowl game to cap 38-year-old Seth Littrell‘s first season as a head coach, with UNT going bowling for the first time since 2013. This is likely the most relevant stat for this game: Army is second nationally in rushing yards per game at 327.8, while UNT is 105th (out of 128 teams) in the country in stopping the run at 219.2 ypg. Army ran for 303 yards in the loss to UNT earlier in the season, but the Mean Green scored 21 points off Black Knights turnovers to secure the 35-18 win. Here’s to guessing that more than a half-dozen turnovers aren’t on Army’s bowl agenda and they get that eighth win. Plus, #Merica, which goes without saying
THE LINE: North Texas, +10
THE PREDICTION: Army 27, North Texas 17

Heart of Texas ain't the cotton bowl. It's just played at the cotton bowl. They probably sell people who buy cotton bowl tickets seats to this game dirt cheap. I bought tickets to the Fiesta Bowl which allowed me th buy tickets to tonight's cactus bowl for $8.

Wow ! You're in Arizona going to the Ohio St-Clemson game ?!
I'm jealous ! lol. PS- I'm a little surprised OSU only a 3 point favorite. Enjoy the trip !

Two questions:

1. Was Temple provided with a copy of the Wake game plan. Fairness dictates they should as all the other Wake opponents had it this year.

2. Will the Minny players actually play?

1. Yes but their coaches took it to a Baylor with them.

2. Yes

Don't forget RU-Wisky in men's bball at 7:00 in our conference opener. We are 18-point dogs. Game is on ESPN2. Go Knights!!

As for football, I'm rooting for Army, Wake, Minny, and don't care about the Baylor-BS matchup.

Where did you get your tickets for the Fiesta Bowl? Stub Hub? We are up in Sedona and fly out of Phoenix on 12/31. Been debating whether to get tickets for the Fiesta Bowl.

Can't beat Sedona. You are lucky.
It's a bit cold up here this year. There was quite a bit of snow on Dec. 24, but we did not arrive until midnight on Christmas Day, and most of the snow had melted. Snow looks nice on the tops of the red rocks. Lows in the 20s and highs in the low 50s is not too bad.

fyi - It's not "The Cotton Bowl." It's The Heart of Dallas" Bowl which happens to be played at The Cotton Bowl Stadium. Big difference lol!

We usually go to the RU bowl as a family. Last year when it became obvious RU wasn't bowl bound we decided to just pick a random bowl. Wife loves Scottsdale so we picked Fiesta. This summer they sent me an email stating they have a loyalty program and we could but the same seats if we wanted. No real price increase even though it was a playoff game.

This Heart of Dallas Bowl is being played AT the Cotton Bowl, as was clearly worded in the OP, lol.

Army leads 31-28 about 8min left

Now going into Overtime in the Feart of Dallas Bowl being played AT The Cotton bowl. 31-31

Army wins it's Bowl game ! Congrats to the Cadets !

Temple now leading Wake Forest 7-0 in the Military Bowl being played at :
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Annapolis, Maryland

I was recruited to play ball at Wake. Met legendary Tennessee halfback Beattie Feathers while I was there. Told him it was an honor to meet him. He said, "You really know who I am?" I said, "Sure." He got a big smile and said, "You're OK, kid." Feathers played almost twenty years before I was born, but I was a huge student of the game.

Wake takes the lead 14-7 !

Another outstanding Bowl game !

I'm curious why they couldn't get 1 of the 3 Service Academies to play in 'The Military Bowl ? They are all in a Bowl game this year.

It's ACC vs AAC so that rules out Army or Air Force right there. Navy played in its "home" game last season.

Temple's D looks like Swiss Cheese so far. The AAC has come up very short in its bowl games (and I'm "out" 78 points thus far thanks to them...). Really need Temple to wake the f* up here...).

Been to Hulas and the Sugar Bowl? Must stops in Scottsdale as is the Botanical Garden.

Temple in BIG (not "B1G"...) trouble and AAC could drop to 1-5 on the bowl season (only win: Tulsa) if they don't "wake" the f-up!

Wake now up 24-7. And as for Adonis Jennings, Flood did offer Jennings a schollie, and if memory serves he committed, and then de committed. In the next Bowl game today , you will see WR David Njoku of Miami, who also committed and then decommitted to Ru. I heard David Njoku got a 2-4th round NFL draft eval, so he's probably gone after this game. Not sure if his brother still has a real committable offer to Miami at this point. He probably does, but he had a lack luster senior year after transferring to Wayne Hills from Cedar Grove HS.

Still 2nd qtr and Temple getting beat like a rented mule. 31-7

PS- where can I go to rent a mule ?

F*ck the AAC. What the hell was I thinking using 37 confidence points on Temple after this conference's 1-4 start to the bowl season? SMH.

After Ruhle quit and left you (and I) should have changed this pick. This Temple team looks like it quit when Rhule quit.

ESPN keeps running a scroll saying the Minn Coach Claeys (sp?) is attempting to become the first Minn coach to win 2 bowls in a row. They neglect to say all the starters were recruited when Kill was the coach.

Need a Kicker like that Temple kicker. 45 yards right down the middle.
This is a must need for next year. Enough already.

I remember the good olde days when people complained when a 6-6 team went to a bowl.

5-7?

Goodness.

Temple's highly ranked defense is getting shredded by an ACC team that averages 19 points a game. ACC is a good conference.
