What if Martin made the first down? Would we be playing in a minor bowl game again with a minor coach and minor possibilities going forward. Thank God we were a little short, but we got all the motion!!!

Thank the refs. It looks like the nose of the ball reached beyond the chains. How did they call that short? Imagine if we all really cared about that game? I still want to understand how that was decided.

Had we won and played in a crap bowl, Flood would not be coaching in it.
The refs called it correctly, they aren't in the habit of lying.

Minnesota is playing Central Michigan in Detroit. That could have been us.
Game is on Dec 28 this year, a small upgrade over Dec 26. The other 5 win bowl teams are Nebraska vs UCLA in Santa Clara (probably unchanged if we won) and San Jose State vs 6-6 Georgia State in a new game in Orlando.
Georgia State won their last four games, including a blowout of Georgia Southern in the finale, to get to the bowl. So we are not missing a whole lot as it turned out.

...considering our injury rate this year, especially over the last 2 weeks, who would have even played in a bowl game?

Once the chance of at least a 6-6 season went bye-bye, the decision was made.
