I'm a Babers fan also! I think he is an Offensive guru. If he can do it at Bowling Green, he can sure do it at Cuse! I'm just saying without a Defense, how do you feel confident on winning a game? Shootouts are exciting games to watch, but how do you know you're going to win that shootout? If he can muster up a Defense, I would feel much better as a Cuse fan!
Lol you count that "conference championship" that we and two other teams won. I don't count it for RU in terms of bragging over it.
If Ash is successful here, we will make sure that his contract never runs out, he will keep getting extensions and raises. Just like Miss State did with Mullen. Once the Big Ten money kicks in, we will be able to afford it without issue.
this year they won national chips in two sports. Had 4 teams in final 4's. Final 4 in mens, girls hoops. ACC lax chip. soccer final 4, girls lax final 4. and Rutgers? Come on man. Not even close to us in overall athletics.

yeah I count that because we shared it with you guys and I know you hate that. Your best era was during SU's worse era and Rutgers best era but you guys didn't capitalize on it. Oh, that mighty 06 season was 10 years ago. Didnt even when the chip with your best team.

He was a good guy but wasnt ready to be a HC. He was okay his first year though. Went 4-4 in our first year in the ACC and won a bowl game against a good Minny team
Marathon, not a sprint buddy. We had many years of ineptitude to overcome. I really don't care about who we shared it with. More concerned that we should have finished and won it outright and we didn't. Yes, 2006 we didn't win it but you do realize that UL and WVU were Top 10 teams that year don't you? We finished #12. While I think our ceiling is only MSU/Iowa level, I don't think we've even come close to it yet. 2005-2014 was our "best era" since going D1-A in the late 70's, sure, but it was also the first time we started to fund football at a 1-A level. It's safe to say Cuse's best football years are way behind them (much like Pitt). I really don't think we've approached our ceiling yet. 2006 was scratching the surface.

I will say I'm a believer in DB for Cuse FB....expect 7-5 seasons with an ocaissional 8 or 9 run but someone higher profile in his home area will hire him away as soon as that happens....might happen to us too with HCCA??...
and why wouldn't rutgers or cuse count that? It was still earned. It was your only share of the title. Don't make it seem like winning championships was the norm for you guys.
The Cuse fans just cannot accept reality. They have been bad for a long time. They have no natural recruiting base. Their problems will not be magically cured by an offensive guru. RU is the better job with much higher upside.

Babers is the right coach for Cuse at the moment. Only head scratcher is he's in his mid-50's which is somewhat late to get your first P5 job if you are indeed THAT much of a "guru". I mean Kyle Flood had a P5 job before him and he's a not a guru on either side of the ball. Food for thought.

Because if it is, Purdue is going to be a beast. . . same for Northwestern and Minnesota. . . and I just can't see it.
Im fine with that. I am also realistic to know that there will be some 5-7 seasons in between all of that. We have to recruit outside our state every year. We will miss on some recruits and we have to play FSU, Clemson and Louisville every year. Pitt is no slouch. NC State is similar to us. That will be a 50/50 game every year. I don't expect much this year, new schemes on both sides, but you never know.
You can't compare those schools to us. It is apples and oranges.
Money is a solid poster but like a lot of cuse fans, seems to default to moving the goalposts every time it comes to Rutgers.

I'm not sure that I agree. . . if the money is going to mean so much to us. . .why wouldn't it mean just as much to them.
Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue and Indiana all stand to make at least $100 million more than us over the next four years.
Well Minnesota is on par with us. But comparing NW (a tiny private with rigorous academics) and Purdue (has two other major programs in state to compete with) is def apples and oranges. There I just spelled it out for you. NW has always had money by the way.
With the right leadership might surpass your school in overall sports programs.
Right now what you say is true, it once was once true for both school's football programs and that changed dramatically.
Syracuse winning some football programs is a nice thought for Syracuse fans, Rutgers fans on the other hand don't want just to win games, they want to be a top program and that's why Rutgers FB fans weren't satisfied with a HC who took RU to 3 bowls his first 3 years.
At the end of every season ( including the co: Big East Championship one) the call was for him to be replaced.
Even an 8-4 record in RU's first B1G conference season you heard fans calling for that coach's ouster. His 23-16 record after 3 seasons wasn't enough for him to make RU FB fans feel he could make the Scarlet Knights one of the better B1G programs and that's the only thing RU FB fans will settle for.

Your HC Dino seems to be a good one, maybe Syracuse FB fans should have higher expectations than " we will win some games".

Rutgers is benefiting from the success of other teams to improve their own team. I am not wrong. Big Ten money will help get you new facilities, better recruits etc.. Same with Cuse and the ACC, but I know Big 10 makes a lot more right now. So Im not hating. Thats the benefits of being in a good conference.

you did nothing different than what other big east schools did to us. We had a horrible coach and we had a horrible team. You all beat us. Dont be too proud of that.

Flood got most of those wins with Schiano's defense and recruits. Why wouldnt you be happy with 8-4? lol your history never showed consistent dominance. 1 shared conference chip in a bad conference. You guys couldn't do it there. You are expecting to do it in the best division (next to sec west) in football? lets be realistic. yes, you have talent in the state, yes you are have motivated coaches and a new culture but you can't win games off potential. You still have to win. Again, being a HS and once college coach I understand that its a process. New schemes , new staff. There will be a learning curve. We will win some games but Im not banking on it this year. 1 or 2 years from now. My expectations will be very high.
and there's constant chatter about Cuse on this board too. We both make fun of each other. Trust me, both schools are much better off in a Power 5 conference that we were in the terrible Big East.
ACC added Cuse because the ACC wanted to be the best MBB conference in the country and they wanted to spread throughout the east coast.
But we are not riding the Big Ten success, since #1 we are not making much more than we did in the Big East for now and #2 we already made the Big Ten and BTN a TON of money thanks to our TV market. They didn't add us as a joke, the Big Ten added Rutgers because we could and have made them a ton of money. The Big Ten is much richer in both TV money and research thanks to Rutgers. We still need to catch up with the rest of them as far as winning games. But both Football and MBB have finally got great staffs. Wrestling has already took their place among the best programs in the country. Lax is doing pretty good on both fronts and Women's Soccer made the final four last year. Things will take time, some sports may take a lot longer than others but the days of being a doormat are behind us for the most part. We are not going to go backwards now. The main thing holding us back before was lack of funds and they won't be an issue for long.

I always hear about Rutgers fans being annoyed of SU fans they know or are co-workers etc... It's Interesting, there must be a lot of SU fans in the NY/NJ area. It's the future that has Syracuse fans worried .
Yes Rutgers has a way to go to be what RU fans expect it to be ( notice expect , not just want)
and bringing up RU FB's past just shows that Syracuse fans do not like what they see for Rutgers future if it gets a HC that can mine the State of New Jersey for its HS Talent and bring in talent from other states.
Syracuse fans know for the Orange that would be a miracle and their recruiting brings in occasionally some top talent but the usual recruit is your average player that feels he has a better shot at making the rotation than if he went to a school with the future Rutgers has.
As for just winning some B1G games and being satisfied with being a middle of the B1G East division, that's not happening for some RU fans, we expect some big wins and to be a top B1G program anything less will be disappointing.
The syracuse mentality of settling for some wins is not the way we support our football program.
That's why Ash feels he can make RU FB a major player in the B1G, the way RU fans support
a winner has been proven and the casual fans in the NY/NJ metro area are starting to look at RU FB as a program they can get behind.
Stick to your hoping for a few wins and spin it anyway you like, but this isn't the Rutgers you hope it is, but the Rutgers I know it will be that we're talking about.
The wins will come because Rutgers potential finally is being mined and will keep on improving
the way it started whit Greg Schiano as HC.
Even Schiano was being view in a negative light by many for not making RU top program after the 2006 season and that's the difference between RU and Syracuse FB fans.
Syracuse FB fans know their glory days are gone and just hope for glimpses of glory every year
Rutgers fans know the RU FB program can and will be great and won't settle for glimpses
of greatness every year.
