Absolutely right. SU and other Big East teams were basketball driven schools. SU still is. Thats what people dont realize. They would be pretty good if SU ever make a commitment to football. They don't care enough about it in upstate NY. Care more about basketball, soccer and lax

Yes he's done more by putting together a higher rated recruiting class..oh wait, that's right, tour class is made up of a bunch of recruits not many schools want. That's right. Must've been so hard getting them all. Including devito. All those offers he has..you better hope nobody comes calling.
We got Lewis..the qb we actually picked over devito and the qb who would actually be able to last a year of taking hits on runs.
IIRC the BE started football because Pitt and cuse were starting to get uneasy about their FB programs falling behind those of the B1G, Big 8, ACC etc as the days of the major CFB independents were largely coming to an end (late 80's/ early 90's- mainly PSU joining the B1G) and football money was starting to rise exponentially. The BE brass didn't want to lose them and BE Football was begrudgingly born.

Right you guys won for 6 years because of Cuse bad coaches. Tell me about it. Rutgers want to be legit so bad for football. Cuse dont even care. We are too busy winning in other sports. Getting to final 4's in lax and soccer. Track national championships. Much more well rounded and respected nationally. Oh, and our football history will never be matched by Rutgers history. Thats not bad for a school who doesnt care about football.
lol rutgers class is over rated. I will say 5 or 6 are good gets, after that is a bunch of kids that penn st didnt offer. Your lucky Penn st was due for a small class this year. Better hope you beat them this year. Jersey kids will start flying out of the state to play for them.
inherited a bad eastern illinois team too. Went worse to first in 2 years. top 5 in the nation. Developed FCS QB Garropolo into a NFL draft pick. Also, his Bowling Green team beat Indiana, Maryland and Purdue. Teams Rutgers struggle with he beats with less talent. lol 700 yards of offense against Maryland btw.

I really liked Babers. . .but not at Rutgers, because unfortunately, NJ has a problem with Minorities. . . in the same way, I worry for a Minority QB at Rutgers. . . sure it's great if he's the truth. . . but anything less than Super Obama, and well, let's just say that NJ is a fickle place.
Syracuse on the other hand has always been a place where Minorities were welcome, and appreciated. . . and so, given the history of Syracuse, and how they've treated Minorities, from Brown to Banks. . . Marvin to McNabb.
and this is easy for Babers. . . He's got the perfect system, and he knows how to implement it. . . and you give him an incredible home field advantage, non-inclement weather, and a well that's a wrap.
Vick almost came to Syracuse. . . can you imagine if Syracuse followed McNabb with Vick. . . my goodness.
next year when Clemson comes to the Dome. . . that's a game I think Babers wins.

...I think that Babers' scheme lends itself much better to the ACC style of football and dome play than it would to the B1G. cuse likely got the right guy for their program, and I definitely think Rutgers did.

I think you make some fair points regarding the RU faithful, though still think they actually apply perhaps even more accurately to cuse fans. I think you have a lot of great insight to offer but still often come off as smug/dismissive of Rutgers, like many of the cuse posters that stop by here...and no, we don't need or want cuse's validation for "6 years". When someone denies or minimizes things that have clearly happened, the issue is with them. I also think that in large, cuse fans trying to deny that they can't stand that Rutgers isn't the doormat they came to know in the late '90's is beyond hysterical. Do I think it burns you up? No, not really...but it does seem to bug you just a little bit, hence the small but relatively frequent digs.
I do think that Rutgers fans can be like guy who went from benching 135 to 315 and now thinks they're ready for the Olympics. cuse fans IMO can be like Ben Stiller at the very end of Dodgeball, clearly not once what they were and almost in complete denial of it.

I get its a Rutgers forum and I give Rutgers props in my commentary but rarely do I see posters here say 1 positive thing about Cuse. I cant respect that. There are compliments going out to other opposing teams but not SU. Some on here think the world revolves around rutgers fooball and Su is the worse team ever. So unrealistic.

Lets just say Ive had at least 6 players Ive worked with or coached that played at Rutgers. This is the real reason why I check these boards. To follow my kids and see what you guys say about them. Ive had personal relationships with Norries and Bob. Last time I was there was for pro day for one of my guys, Sorry to disappoint you. I still plan to send kids to Rutgers. Not sure how Ash will do but he seems like a character guy. He's good for kids.
I can appreciate that. I think a lot of that also applies to a number of cuse fans (I honestly think I can remember 2-3 saying anything remotely positive about Rutgers on the boards, with the rest being typical message board banter), but also think that you don't let the conduct of others totally dictate your own. I honestly enjoy much of your insight and hope you still visit the board; seem like a good guy at heart (even if I do think you're rooting for the wrong letter of the alphabet).

You don't need a reason to knock Rutgers, you go negative any chance you get and most of your logic has a negative spin to it.
You come here to talk FB but also to defend your school against the putdowns you see here.
Talking trash is something you're good at and the way you add a bit of truth in the smack talk makes you a very worthy opponent for those who reply with their own trash talk.
But I will admit that there are times you are just talking the truth and are insulted because some Rutgers fans feel you're enjoying bringing up some of the things holding RU FB from reaching it's potential and love to rub that in RU FB fans faces.
As for me I enjoy talking smack with you and don't take what you post as hate, just as someone that isn't a Rutgers supporter defending their (Syracuse) school while telling RU supporters ( including me and every other SN member) that RU FB isn't as good as they think it is .

What should be considered is something you need to do : Remember this is a Rutgers board and you are the one that should not respond to what you don't like said by a Scarlet Nation member. The mods of this board are very lenient and from my understanding ( reading other visitors posts) most guests enjoy coming on SN
Some other boards ban visiting posters for bringing up what's wrong with their program and I'm talking just about sports related and not off field problems.
Years ago I was banned from Syracuse board for pointing out problems with the Syracuse FB team. That ban ended a long time ago but happened.
I don't go on other schools message boards except to congratulate them on a victory or express sympathy over something that happened.
One congrats was greeted with personal insults because of the way I reply to some of the posters from that site that come here talking BS.
I expected backlash but I had told a decent poster from that school I would do it if his school won.
You, me and every poster on every board must just accept the good with the bad and figure out who you can have a meaningful conversation with , who you can smack talk without them feeling picked on and who you should expect the worst from .
Then post about something knowing what type of responses you'll get .
