This is why coach Ash should have immediately severed his ties with OSU the moment he accepted the job at Rutgers. The AD should have never allowed him to coach OSU in their bowl game. Urban Meyer was smart, because he knows everything comes down to wins and losses. The Greg Schiano hire was to undermine Rutgers and Ash while poaching every 4 & 5 star recruit in the NJ, PA, CT and NY area.

Here we're praising Ash for honoring his commitment to OSU all the while U. Meyer just schooled Rutgers on how the Big Dogs do business.

LOL. Yes - Urban Meyer had no shot at getting big time NJ recruits without Schiano.

I dont know that Ash is the answer here, or will ever recruit Meyer, but I dont think Schiano - who last coached here when the latest recruits were in middle school, is really part of that equation.

Trap is just trying to cause trouble. If you look at this year NJ top recruits, most of them are going to Michigan not Ohio State.

I disagree with you. OSU was already killing it in NJ. Urban and Gary were already friends and he needed a DC. When Gary completely FAILED at getting a head coaching job at a premiere program, it was a natural for Urban, to bring his friend in. Gary still doesn't know how to defend against a spread and Gary just like Urban is using each other for the next gig.

And let's not foreget: Gary was a good recruiter, not a great one. I have confidence in Ash getting us the right pieces to make us successful. Gary may be able to bring in a recruit or two from NJ, but OSU recruits nationally and Gary will have to close some of the recruits outside NJ. I'm not concerned with this.

If we lose a recruit to Ohio State that's par for the coarse, doesn't mean
it was losing him to Gary. Everytime Ohio State wins a game or get's
a commitment there are certain people on this board that will give all the credit
to Gary.

I'm as big of a Schiano fan as there is - would have preferred him over Ash and almost anyone else - but having said that, the OP is way off base here. OSU already gets top players from every state so Greg's impact on OSU's NJ recruiting will likely be smaller than it would've been had he been hired at UVA or Cuse, schools we'd be much more likely to be competing against for the 3/4-star NJ guys.

by a mistake a poster made, and naturally some people
hopped on aboard. I believe it is not meant complimentary.

1) if UM wanted to hurt R he would have told Ash to take the Syracuse job. that would have hurt RU more then osu's schiano hire
2) osu took ZERO recruits from Jersey, mich took like 4. MSU took 2
Yes I use the words took as we have not in the past stopped any coach from taking Jersey players.
3) BTW I do not know the actual statistic here but a plus 40% more like 50% of the HS coaches hate Schiano. So why would UM hire a guy to recruit as state where almost half the coaches dislike the man?
4) why would UM hire a guy just to hurt Rutgers when he needs a DC to compete for a national championship. In the real world this is just crazy.
