Huskies looked good pretty today and UW returns a ton of players. They should be a much better team next year. More will be expected of them in the tough PAC-12 (currently 4-0) in their bowl games. RU will be a decided underdog in the Husky home opener. A tough challenge right out of the gate.

If their rivals site is correct they lose 3 starting OL

Their best offensive player is the SR WR, he is a combination of Carroo and Grant. They use him to go deep, on reverses and jet sweeps. Without him their offense is limited.

Their QB cannot be any good because he has a weak arm. So most people on this board should not worry about the QB.

We will have a very good chance to win this opener next year.
DL is stacked and our Secondary will have all returning players with a year under their belt.

I usually have a very tempered view of things. This past season and the loss of some really great players has me even more so for next season. Just changing coaches is not going to be a magic bullet to start the season. Very tough opener.

Their coach is Chris Petersen going into his 3rd year there with a good qb. We have won once on the west coast. Our secondary is still bad.

Yeah it will be a very tough opener. Impossible to win? No its winnable but very tough.

We won't know if our secondary is still bad for 8 months.

LOL I will be absolutely stunned if we are not double digit underdogs.

Not sure if he is a senior or what, but they're RB looked really good too.

A "very good chance to WIN" this game??? Let's see, we lose:

- all 3 starting LB's
- top play maker on O
- top OL'man

- while also installing all new systems and
- playing in an incredibly hostile environment
- against a Chris Peterson coached team with an experienced QB and 8 starters, plus ALL 2nd team members, returning on BOTH sides of the ball (depth chart updated 12/21/15)

Temper expectations my friends. Can we win this game? Absolutely. Is this a game we have a "very good chance" to win? Absolutely not.

** BTW - Washington finished the regular season 27th in Sagarin, despite their 6-6 record, whereas we came in at 97th. 70 spots below them.

Oh yeah I'm planning on making this game NEVER been to Seattle before so, BAMM, that just upped our odds of winning! [thumb2]

this looks like a tough game after watching yesterday.
All ways tough to open season 3000 miles from home with a veteran team.
If we can be competitive in this one with all the changes we have occurring it will be a good thing!
Could we win? of course, is it likely uuhhh no!

The entire season will be a challenge ! You may want to glance at the schedule.

Their freshmen running back had a outstanding performance along with the freshmen quarterback.Rutgers defense will be challenged and it probably will take scoring at least 30 points to win.

The one advantage we have is that we are installing a new offense and defense and it will be the first game.....no film on this team and what it will do on both sides of the ball......maybe they can look at tOSU film for the "D and JMU and Houston film for the "O" but that still wont be watching us.

It will take 15 spring practices and 2 to 3 games to figure out what RU will be all about over the next few seasons. RU has been so poorly coached on defense for the last 3 seasons that it should be very easy to clean up the poor technique, poor alignment on defense and RU's offense will be better with 2 very good running backs and a solid OL. Ash is getting 2M per year and cleaned up Ohio State's defense, I fully expect significant improvement with the talent we have on this roster.

The excuses stop folks, let's not start the tough opener BS, RU has played on the road in openers before with poor defensive coaching and game plans and played well in recent years. Washington struggles with spread offenses (Arizona State, Oregon etc) and they are a blitz-reliant defense to generate pressure on their QB......They also gave up another good amount of yards yesterday on a neutral field so a solid but not dominate Southern Miss offense.

If we get the ball out quickly, I am not worried about blitz happy defenses. Dink and dunk offenses with quick little short passes used to eat up Schiano's defenses. So we will see what our offense looks like next year.

Also, I hope we aren't cranking the excuse machine for this coach already. There is still plenty of talent and experience on this team. Win or lose Wash, I expect about a 6-6 season and bowl eligibility. The schedule is no harder and possibly easier than last year's. I expected between 4-8 and 6-6 last year. In a less controversial season we probably would have been 6-6, IMO.

The schedule is actually harder.

These are not excuses. It is just the simple truth. Some people are in denial about how bad this team is.

Washington also beat the crap out of WSU this year in the Apple Cup so not sure how much they would struggle against a spread dink and dunk attack. They were the top scoring defense in the Pacific 12. Southern Miss was the top offense in their league so giving up points yesterday does not necessarily mean they were overrated on D.

As for us only winning once out west, it is not like we play there often. That means nothing to next year's team, with no players that have lost out west (I think).

It should be a great environment for the Ash opener.

Were we watching the same Rutgers team this season?

Hamilton back. Turay will be healthy. Hester will be healthy. Rene starting at CB.
Ash coaching the D. We will be different in Seattle.

The Huskies beat WSU this year because the Cougars did not have their starting QB.
The same QB that was 9-3 for WSU this year. As you recall, despite a horrific Defensive performance RU almost beat WSU this year ( against that same QB) and only lost by 3 points. We have Grant back for 2016.

FLIGHT. I am excited already to watch this game. If any player has your attitude he should be cut immediately. Deny that.
