***Vretman Commits to Rutgers***

Watched his highlights on Toderick Hunt. This kid doesn't stop playing until his man is on his back.

Nice.

IMO he looks like Brienne of Tarth, another famous knight

Congrats to Sam, his family, and RU.

I know nothing about the kid other than what I just read, but with those measurables and his performance with just two years of HS football under his belt... He could be a monster sleeper.

He's not even really that much of a sleeper either. He was the either the best or one of the best OL at both the Rivals and Nike NJ camp the other week.

Not sure why he doesnt have the usual Cuse, BC, Pitt, PSU offers and I'm sure he gets a few of them in the next few months, but I'm glad we got in early.

In the past we would get a lot of early commits like this and then lose them when they got to see other places. It was almost as if we were a safe school and kids treated RU as a ship in their pocket in case nothing else came along. We will get a real good idea of this new staff's ability to recruit by whether or not these commits actually stay with us and other elite kids sign on as well. My heart and gut say they will stay and this may be one of the best, if not the best class ever, but my head says wait and see.

Yeah. I was thinking along those same lines. I promised myself I would not get excited about any "verbals"...as they often turn out to not be commitments at all.
But so far it looks pretty good for the class of 2017.

The rate in which we're going has brought my excitement for the program back ten-fold. I certainly thought the damage Flood caused would take many years to repair with potential recruits but Ash is doing it year one and far and away from NSD. The future looks so bright at the moment.

Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!

Love the OL class thus far.
And Sam is a B1G part of that!

I kind of hope that meme isn't representative. 'Cause the swede from that movie got his ass kicked by a 50 year old about 60 seconds from that moment captured in the meme. I'm just saying.

But he got his ass kicked by Clint and not JoePa in Depends.

I think PSU was about to offer since the coaches went to see him but he probably made up his mind already after visiting Rutgers with his parents. His parents only visited Rutgers and Penn State so I think this is a solid commit.

Losing the commits was really a Flood thing so you're talking about the last 4 years. Flood, I guess, didn't want to do the hard work of recruiting or he didn't think it was important.

I normally didn't get excited when Flood got a recruit but I get a real good feeling Ash is different. Most fans see it and that's why comments are positive and not negative.

Yea but Samuel was afraid to go into the locker room and shower at Ped State, so he became a lock for Rutgers
