Only 4 wins is definitely not a huge improvement. Easily could have won more than 4 last year. If we win 4 and hang in a few others its a baby step forward.

I like how @Illinois gets added as a gimme when they beat us in 24-7 in our house this season.

Our OLine is going to struggle next year. We're again going to have question marks at LB. We only have two game in Rutgers Stadium after September ends. I'm expecting 3-5 wins next year, and the 4th and 5th are no guarantee.

It's still not a gimme. Arguably without Janarion Grant we go 0-12. We were about to lose to New Mexico until Grant stepped it up and completely changed the momentum. I think eventually we would've wore Howard down but I think Grant changed the momentum in that game too.

I think our offense is much better this year. It's our defense that worries me. Our D line and LBs have massive question marks. Teams should be able to run all over us.

I honestly think Lewis plays this year.

We are up Sh*ts Creek if Gio gets hurt, especially early in the season.
Then Odin would be next man up, due to his experience from last year plus a full spring.
I agree with the poster who stated Lewis will have only 4-5 weeks of practice under his belt before Washington, shouldn't play until October, if so..

We outgained them by a wide margin? We had just 65 more yards, and had the ball for 5:36 longer than they did. They outgained us on the ground 228 to 208, and had a 5.3 ypc average to our 4.1... turnovers don't explain our run defense getting gashed.

And last I checked, turnovers were still part of the rulebook for next season. You're assuming we'll somehow have no turnovers at their house next year? We allowed 10 turnovers and gained just 4 in our 5 away games this season... not sure why we're suddenly going to flip the turnover ratio on the road.

Not saying we won't beat Illinois on the road next year, but it's hardly a gimme game where you can scoff at people for not marking it down in January as a win. They're not a good team... but neither are we right now, and we're going to a jumble of gaps and question marks heading into next season. At least we get them after a bye, and they get us coming off of games vs.Nebraska and @Iowa.
