We had the ball under our basket up 5 with 15 seconds and we blew it.

Let's try again. 8-10 in conference, not 8-8
Let's try again. We are already 0-2 in conference. Hence, there are 16 games remaining. Winning 8 games would require us to finish 8 and 8. The chances of us winning eight of our last 16 conference games is minimum 100 to 1.

Are we on the same page yet?

We are better than Wisconsin, better than Illinois and better than Indiana right now. I have also watched Northwestern and Iowa get waxed this year and I do not think they are better. Penn State is another team that has a slightly better starting five but not a better bench. So Greene , those are a few.
Illinois is better than you think. They took it to a pretty good Missouri team last night. This conference is tougher than a lot of you seem to believe.

You can pick out one game and they also lost badly to Unlv and New Mexico State at home. Some of Iowa's losses were horrific. Northwestern got blown out by 30 twice this year . Even Purdue lost to Western Kentucky. More than likely the teams in our conference will get better as the year goes on , as we will. No one said it will be easy but this is by far the worst Big 10 based on the out of conference games since we joined in 2014. We could and probably should win our home games at the RAC against equal teams and more than likely loseon the road to these similar teams. The question is can we break through and win on the road. That will determine how successful we will be.

New Mexico State is a very good team, knocked off Miami in Hawaii, that is not a bad loss at all. The loss to Stony Brook shows that this team can lose to anyone at the RAC, I dont think our fanbase believed that until it happened...of course on the flip side the win over SHU shows that this team can beat anyone at the RAC, I don't think anyone believed that until it happened

Until Stony Brook, Pike's teams have not lost to any sub 500 teams. It took a miracle for Stony Brook to win as we were up 5 with the ball under own basket with 14 seconds left. Stony Brook played hard and relentless and deserved to win.
But I hope you agree that this is the worst Big 10 since we joined ? Therefore, we have a chance this year in conference.

This was always a trap game after beating Shoe and their squad likely coming in amped to beat their former coach.

It was a bad night for Pike, and the players. As bad as some of the calls from Pike were, you have to hit free throws. That isn't coaching. There is some basic player execution expected at this level.

Lots of factors, FTs were one of the big ones. The substitution patterns were a bit questionable, a couple of inbounds plays were questionable. The indecision and tentativeness on offense could have been because the players were flat and unfocused, or could also partly be on game plan. The lack of defense near the end was also partly because Freeman had 4 fouls and was afraid of fouling out - which meant coaches needed to either sub him out, or let him know it's okay to foul out in those situations.

Subpar performances all around - which hopefully will serve as a learning opportunity all around.

A lot of over reactions to the past two games.
Totally agree. We were close against Florida State and Michigan State, teams that are as good if not better than Seton Hall and we were bound to get one especially with a packed RAC crowd.
Stony Brook playing their old coach played hard and hustled all night. We were still up 5 with the ball and I think some of the negative hysteria has to do with how we blew that lead.
We are the same team before these last 2 games. How we fare on the road where we have played only 1 game will determine how well we do this year.

True but that one game was a blow it by a team that’s been blown out twice by unranked opponents.

Not to mention being outrebounded by a team, especially on the offensive end, that didn’t start a player over 6’7.

It’s one thing if you’re UNC and just won the National Championship last year and get overconfident & get upset.

But at this point, there should be concern that in B1G play, Rutgers will play hard and some close but not win many games.

I think there is a lot of parity after the top 3-4 teams, which is what will make it tough for us. However, the league is not tough at all (top to bottom) when compared to most power leagues. There is a ton of mediocrity in the league.

Maybe there is a lot of mediocrity. Until proven different I think we are a tier or two below the mediocre teams.

One other thing that has to said. It is very rare a team goes through a season with no games missed because of injury. We could be one injury away from 2 win type team

I was devastated from the SB loss so I can't even imagine the team and coaches. The only thing the team can at this point is take what happened and learn from it. And I think they will. It has zero to do with the rest of the schedule and it's only one game. You simply have to win another that was supposed to be a loss and this team can do that.

Right now; Hartford is the most important game on the schedule. Can we bounce back and hit the FT's? Can we dominate again on the boards? Yes, I think we can but Hartford is no pushover so we need to prepare like it's a regular BIg 10 game.

There is no one left that we play that is better than Michigan State, Florida State or Seton Hall with the exception of Purdue. There are 2 ranked teams in the AP top 25 and 2 others receiving 1 vote (42&43) place ), This is the most the Big 10 has been down in years. We might not win the games to get us close to 500 but this is the best chance we have had since we joined the league and it is not even close.
