According to TH Coach Burnham texted Stills after he decommitted and said "We're just gonna take away your offer completely." Lol, guess when you have 20+ commits that's something you can afford to do. I guess they knew without him we wouldn't have any chance with his brother.

Later on in the article, when asked if he will still be taking any visits Stills said, "As of right now, I can't really tell you. But I probably am. Yeah, maybe. I don't know yet." Lol again. Not gonna bash him, but just gotta laugh at these kids sometimes.

Earlier in the article he said he had already decided to commit to wvu before the offer was pulled, so whats his beef anyway?

Chris Petersen (Washington HC), tells recruits that if they continue to visit other schools after they give Washington a verbal that their offer will go to the next commit. In other words he doesn't fvk around.

I get where he's coming from because if you're committed somewhere you shouldn't need visits but this also just comes off as insecure. It's like the significant other that makes you delete all your contacts of the opposite sex. If a kid is committed somewhere why wouldn't you still take your free trips to other major college programs? Sounds awesome.

Saying you'll take their offer for it just comes off as "YOU'LL FIND SOMEONE BETTER SO WE'LL SCARE YOU INTO NOT LOOKING ELSEWHERE!"

There's little to no surprises come signing day. It makes for a boring LOI day but then again you know who your getting.

At Washington, an uncommon but confident recruiting approach

I think it all depends on the player. Stills was a potential nice to have. He isn't a guy you let dictate terms. Other high profile guys? You might think differently. I am sure how it all went down left a sour taste in the mouths of the RU coaches. I like the idea of telling recruits to take their visits if they like, but we will still recruit. If we get a player we like as much or more, good luck to you.

Recruiting is a two way street. Schools can only be expected to be as committed as a player is.

Stills decommitted, RU made sure it stayed that way.
That's the way decommits should be treated.
I just wonder why ( according to the njo.com article) Stills might be taking visits to other schools , if he's a solid WV commit .
(Stills Says he's 100% committed to West Virginia. However, there is a possibility he could visit other schools.
"As of right now, I can't really tell you. But I probably am," he said. "Yeah, maybe. I don't know yet.")

These are kids. This is how it works. They change their mind every second. Who cares - we can replace him easy. He was a 2 star anyway.

My guess is that our coaches had a discussion with him about WVU before they offered. Since it looks like everyone on this board knew about his love for the Mounties, why would you accept a commit IF you knew he would flip to WVU given the chance?
If I am right, he must have told us that he would not flip.
I am all for pulling the offer if the kid shows that he considers you his safe school,

IMO it was a no lose situation for you guys. There's no doubt Ash knew a WVU offer and the kid was gone despite whatever the kid might have said. Best case WVU never offers & kid stays, worst case Ash has an example of sticking to his guns.

Stills also said that committing to #RFootball was the best decision he's ever made. 24 hours later...

Our prior coach did this and our fan base just skewered him. I think this is the right way to go. Can't wait for some !& year old to decide or not decide. Keep moving along.

I don't think that Flood had announced that as his policy as Peterson apparently has. So it was easy for players to commit to RU, thinking it was a no risk situation. Maybe if it had been a stated policy from the start, players would have held off a bit before making a decision.

Well that's because he sucks - he is responsible for the spread of the Zika virus, global warming, the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, the Red Spot on Jupiter and the cracked head on my Saturn. He is Satan incarnate!

Based on that quote on visits and the fact that this kid would risk what is now his only offer by saying he may take other visits....this kid is a ****ing idiot

Typical Flood, keeping a policy like that a secret. How did he ever last so long here.

Watch "Last Chance U" on Netflix. Most of these kids are..

Ncaa needs to allow recruits to sign earlier, maybe have 2 signing periods. Schools spend alot of time and money recruiting these kids that dont stand by their word. Its really a disgusting mess. The recruiting process needs to stay out of the media, just fuels this nonsense. Half these kids never play, flunk out, etc but they get their moment on the media in recruiting.

Petersen has never had a Washington commit flip to another team since he's been at Washington.
Does he receive a lot of late commits from kids who might want to go to Wash., but also want to take other visits and they know his view on that subject ? So they go on visits and accept from Wash if it's still available.
I can't believe out of state kids would heed the rule unless they were absolutely sure that Wash is home for them. I guess whatever works is OK until it needs fixing.

A commitment just means that other head coaches know who there competition is

My guess is that he told us that he was solid regardless. That would explain the immediate pulling of his offer. Lie to us and you are not wanted anymore.

Yeah, the guy we just fired lost 14 players in a class 2 years ago pulling that stunt.

And if Flood hadn't objected so strenuously to those commits visiting other schools, I bet he would have only lost 13 of them instead of 14.
