I get there aren't many great match ups but how can The ESPN family have so few games Thrusday and Friday. ACC doesn't even have a game in real TV including a ranked team playing Thursday night. What are they showing on ESPN2, U etc.

ESPN/ABC has three games Thursday, two Friday, one of the best opening weekend schedules in history Saturday, Notre Dame-Texas on Sunday, and Ole Miss-Florida State on Monday. Doesn't get much better than that.

Arent any Great Machups?

This is seriously one of the best College Football opening weekends I have ever seen and we are not even talking about Conference games here.

Kansas State vs Stanford
Bama vs USC
Houston vs Oklahoma
Wisconsin vs LSU at Lambeau Field
UCLA vs. Texas A&M
North Carolina vs Georgia
Clemson vs, Auburn.
Notre Dame vs. Texas
Ole Miss vs. Florida State

If you read my post you saw I said Thursday and Friday of which you posted zero games.

yeah, the lineup is a little disappointing on Thursday. Friday seems better than previous years though.

Maybe it s just me but if ESPN can force MAC teams to play of Tuesday's in November they should be able to manipulate more games for opening weekend. There should be two games on ESPN, ESPNU, and ESPN2 both Thursday and Friday nights. Especially with 4 ACC teams playing on ESPN3 and even more AAC teams having no viewing options

ESPN now has US Open Tennis tv rights so that is taking up a number of their tv slots this coming weekend. That's why it seems as if there are many fewer ESPN televised games.

Doesn't that make it a "who cares" situation? Don't care about channel, care about games. ESPN was better for archiving, the last I checked, but that's really the only advantage I see.
No it makes it a limited choice situation. This time of year blowouts are likely. More options on TV the better. As a TV exec I doubt they say well screw it there is already a decent game on FS1. Why give people a reason to check their next week or even Saturday for games?

Thanks. Figured it was something like that. Can't see how two Russian dudes nobody ever heard of get higher ratings than schools like Baylor, Lville, or NC State. Even lower tier programs like Wake, Cinci, UCONN, Cuse, and Nevada would pull better. None of which are on TV but have games.
