What if RU started incorporating a new color into uniforms?

As a highlight element.....it seems to be happening more and more across CFB and it never looks bad. The only reason why I'd be in favor of it at RU is because there are so many red and white teams, a tertiary color element like neon would really stand out. I'm not saying you have to go all Oregon with 20 combinations. You can even incorporate otherwise traditional designs. Scarlet, gray and black are pretty bland.

No. We already use scarlet, white, black, grey & silver. That's enough.

Well, I know how much our demographic doesn't embrace anything that isn't traditional .......still.....Don't be surprised if it happens.

Who cares if there are a bunch of other red and white teams? They don't seem to feel obligated to changing their colors, so why should we?

Sheeze, let's just change our name to the Rainbow Knights then!

This senile old fart says "NO"! Are we fielding a football team, or a new age cult that looks like they are dropping some bad acid? We should have less color, not more: Scarlet, white and black. Period.

I agree RURod. Nothing wrong with tradition. However, there is one variation I like and that has to do with some of he helmet variations they had these past few years, The white helm that was decorated with red and blue with the stars and stripes, was one, and the flat black was another. ALWAYS keep the block R.

I don't care too much for the 'gypsy' look.

Agreed....and we've been wearing red (at least on a football field) longer than any of them.....so let them change, not us.

Flat black helmet was ok for occasional use, the red & blue stars & stripes helmet is bad ass and should ALWAYS be used against a academy. and double ditto on the block R

What you want are uniforms that recruits see as desirable. Now, there is no accounting for taste (trust me, I study issues like this), but this could be done easily with black, red, and white. Grey is OK, too. Lots of teams have very cool uni's just using these colors. Sometimes, we do, too.

I think its a great idea. OP made a good point about there being too many red or scarlett colored teams, 3 out of 7 in our division alone. How about using a bright shade of blue for the trim color? Do the uniform so it matches the flag block R helmets.

John O polled about 200 recruits, the year after we got our "new" unis - due to all the controversy - and "uniforms" literally finished 10th and, IIRC, dead last, in the category of "rank the things important to you when choosing a school." In others words, for the most part, they didn't mean d*ck-shit lol!

Could be. I always like to see data in an argument. But back in the day I delayed picking Princeton over Dartmouth for about a week because Dartmouth had such cool uniforms!

For a guy smart enough to have a choice, between those 2 schools, that's scary! [cheers]

Let them change. Rutgers was red before all of them.

A bunch of old dudes like those on this forum are never going to like neon anything. It messes with their pacemakers.
I'm 24 and would never want anything neon to come close to our uniforms.

Not as cool as these Cornell ones (insert roll eye smiley here)...

Skillet era (?) Dartmouth helmet visible at the bottom of the pile.
