What if this team is really good? I mean REALLY GOOD.

There will be 23+ games and this is January 22nd. Obviously 23 games is not 82, but in the NBA or NHL regular season games are just regular season games.

No doubt the game is important and a win helps us even more as it moves us closer to 11 B1G wins. If we beat Iowa we still need to follow it up with more wins.

I do want to win as many games as possible because it is inevitable with just about all teams there are natural ebb and flows to a season. I find it hard to believe we won't hit a 3 game stretch where we aren't the same team. In this league it could very well mean 3 straight losses.

I dont think this team will win the Big Ten regular season but I think we have as good as chance as any to win the Big Ten tournament. Even if we only get the single bye, our depth lends itself to four wins in four days

or 3 wins in 3 days!!

There you go with with your negative tilt again. What have you seen lately to think Rutgers can be beaten by anyone in this league, let alone 3 times in a row? Just looking at it from your lens, Rutgers is playing off the charts elite defense, now #7 in Kenpom defensive efficiency, everything you ever wanted, and we have enough different offensive weapons to score against anybody. Why are you not thinking maybe another 6 or 7 game winning streak is coming ? Until you see a real faltering on both ends , I do not get your negativity, although you will say it is being pragmatic . This team has a real legitimate shot to win the Big 10, get the double bye , and go places in the tourney . All the computer stuff you love says so, but now you will not use that data .Why not?

No doubt that this post is from total over exuberance and I know its hard for all of us life long RU fans to even imagine but what if this team is really elite. There is nothing that I have seen from this team since the PITT game that makes me think we can't play and be competitive with anyone in the BIG. Other threads are debating whether we finish with 18 or 20 wins. Why not 24 or more going into the BIG Tourney?

Anyone dare to dream?

Why would you think otherwise??

The fact that this team is even in a position to take a huge leap, further up into the national conversation among the top teams in the country, is truly remarkable.

It’s not so much about this one game, because even last year’s unranked team could have conceivably pulled an upset at #19 Iowa tonight.

It’s remarkable in the collective performance of the team this year, fueled by a stellar, relentless defense and a deep, talented roster where 9 guys contribute and different players step-up each game.

In other words, we EARNED this chance to pass a big test and have our program illuminated in the national spotlight of college basketball.

Glad someone else is calling FIG out. He's on these boards non stop with negative and very wrong takes. He said we would win 5 B1G games this year. 5! Win 15 games this season. Goal of .500. I said we would have more than that by the end of January! 20+ wins and NCAA tournament was the goal. Argued so much about this lame .500 loser mentality. It's one thing to be wrong from preseason, but then to always be lagging behind and negative once you can see it with your eyes AND the stats support it is crazy.

He doesn't see what's happening apparently. I attributed it to his blind obsession with stats but now the stats show Rutgers is elite and he's still doing things like picking us to get blown out game after game and now waiting for a 3 game losing streak.

FIG, come join the party. Its a good time. Rutgers is legit GOOD. Accept it. Embrace it. Enjoy it. The defense isn't going anywhere. The offense hasn't even hit its stride yet.

It’s true that we are good, but what’s giving us all caution is RU’s low shooting percentage from deep and from the FT line, plus the precarious position we’d be in should Myles get into foul trouble.

These concerns all seem to be minimized at home and accentuated on the road.

what's given me caution is that I have been an RU fan since 1981

I think it makes sense to discount Torvik's numbers a little bit, because his model for whatever reason likes us better than literally every other model.

However, I would think that basically every model at this point thinks we have a better shot at the Elite 8 than at missing the tournament, and that is still pretty amazing.

SHU is currently a top 10 team and most believe they'll win the Big East. Yes, they were banged up that night, and losing Powell early no doubt hurt them, but they were not beating us. And, we crushed them by 20. So, I'll admit that the thought has crossed my mind that we could be a top 10 team this year, and could potentially make a run at winning the B1G.
