Where are all the folks who said we were better off without Sanders?

Question, we have only one senior leaving at the end of the year. We have Young and Mulcahy coming in, so does
that mean we can not recruit another player?

No. Young is already on scholarship. We have another scholarship going unused this season. Mulcahy will take one of the two (Doorson/unused) and we have a spot to add a recruit/transfer.

And of course more could open up if we have a player of our own transfer.

Why are several still carrying on about Corey? He didn't want to stay. Get over it already!!!
I understand what you are saying but I think it is because guys like me were getting shot down and told we were wrong when we said Corey not coming back was terrible for us. You are seeing our frustration come out now over that. Hawk is still holding on to that which shows how little he actually knows. The guys here now would develop better if Corey was on the team. Corey was not a selfish player. We would be playing at a higher level in better games. It would be better for the freshman. Plus winning helps us recruit. And yes there is a difference between 9 wins and 13 or 14 wins in recruiting.

We sucked with Corey. We suck without Corey.

These arguments are dumb.
Let's see if we win 3 games and then two big ten tournament games this year. I am says my not even close. Plus guys get better. Corey would be perfect for this team.

What is the point of this? I don't give a rat's ass if we win two Big Ten tournament games. Was it fun? Sure. Did it mean squat? No. How many Big Ten games did we win all season? The year before? The year before that?

Get over it already. This team has to grow, and another year of Corey would just cover up some of that but in the end would mean nothing. Finishing last with four wins is that much better than finishing last with two wins? Or three?

Not to mention the fact some of you are judging the entire season off of a couple of games. I wouldn't assume we won't match last year's awesome three Big Ten wins. .

We’d be losing with him just like we did. Corey isn’t Michael Jordan.

Over the last 30 years, few players have actually gotten better at RU. The majority have actually gotten worse, and only got better when they transferred somewhere else.

This is one reason I'm okay with giving Pikiell a long leash. How many players over the past 15 years have played four years under the same coach?

I'll answer my own question, at least since 2006: Hamady N'diaye. That's literally it. He played four years under Fred Hill.

Here are guys that played even three seasons for one coach:

Eugene Omoruyi (Pikiell)
Issa Thiam (Pikiell)
*Greg Lewis (Jordan)
*Dane Miller (Rice)
*Mike Poole (Rice)
Austin Johnson (Rice)
Mike Coburn (Hill)
*Anthony Farmer (Hill)
*JR Inman (Hill)
*Jaron Griffin (Hill)

The asterisk means they were not recruited by the coach they played 3 years for.

That's SIX GUYS in THIRTEEN YEARS that have played even three seasons for the coach they were recruited by. That's incredible.

I was one and I didn’t think we would necessarily be better but playing a full season without him will benefit the program because we needed to learn an offense without him. You can’t have a offense and be successful in the big 10 with give it to Corey and hope he scores. That’s what would have happened.

So as bad as we looked yesterday, I’m still convinced we get will have more big 10 wins this year in a conference that is much harder. I don’t know if winning 5 big 10 teams is good enough but it’s what I expected and the next step in the process. Next year we take another step forward. I know yesterday looked like a step backwards but there will be days like that. When we win an unexpected game, you’ll feel a lot better.

C'mon folks, step up and talk about how much better we are without Corey. Can't believe there were people who profess to know anything about basketball who thought we'd be better after losing our best player. It's mind boggling, actually. We miss him so much - we have nobody to go to who can create and make a shot. Nobody. Corey was pretty good at it. We'll be lucky to win our annual 3 B1G games this year.
Somewhere at some point in time, someone said the phrase "Addition by Subtraction," and from that point on fans in all sorts of circumstances started to use it, believing that it shows some deeper understanding of what's going on. And it's almost always wrong.

Of course we could use Corey ...

Corey playing 30 minutes a game instead of kiss and thiam is a huge upgrade in our current rotation

People, including me, had plenty of frustration with those games he just disappears. Some of that was always being the marked guy...(which geo is feeling right now).

But he is the 17-20 point a game scorer playing 30 minutes that we coujd use ...and take pressure off of geo and everyone else

Good post but not sure about 17-20. I do think it would have been interesting to see him with the frosh; there’s no question they’ve added to overall athleticism.
