Who do Brown and Towers want as HC in 2016?

Those two are in different pages but at least Brown is a member of the BOG.

It really bothers me that a not that rich guy who makes all his decisions based on being a good program 10 years ago wields so much power.

Better than Towers who has a man crush on Flood.

Don't disagree...both are morons. End of the day what's the difference? 6 or 7 wins with flood vs 7 or 8 with Schiano. That's like telling your buddy he was stupid for banging the fat girl when yours was only kinda fat with acne on her period.

actually there is a huge difference between Flood and Schiano beside one and a lot of it has to do with perception and GS never embarrassed the program

Cool... so we can hang our heads higher at 6-6 under him. I just gotta ask, 5 minutes to go against USF before Deering went off and Sanu made that catch what were you posting? How about UCONN? Where you like me. One of the 3000 assholes to make the trip?

Brown is probably a big donor for us but by donor standards to other ADs not sure how big he'd be. He donated 2.5M for the recruiting lounge and I'd guess makes sizable donations annually but I'd guess his net worth must be in the 10s of millions say 50-80M. I think he got a 30M bonus for the Motorola split and after that his salary ranges in the 10-15M range.

That's a ton of money for schmoes like us but for the really big donors you see at other schools I don't know that it's such a high net worth that you could donate really big bucks as frequently. He deserves influence but as much as seems to be portrayed seems a bit much. It is what it is.

I actually think Towers with his wife would be worth a lot more but I don't know that they'd donate on that level because neither is an alum of RU and they only recently have been brought in.

I don't think you'll find many people who were upset when GS left, myself included. People are mainly asking for him back because what he built has eroded and he's the opposite of what we're seeing now on/off the field. If the reasoning for keeping Flood is "he is cheap", "will limp to a bowl game each year", while maintaining the same level of program integrity that Greg instilled until we get the B1G money I came to terms with that after last season because a clean program with 8 wins for 900k is a fantastic ROI in the current environment. But now that the cut corners have caught up and the King has no clothes there is zero reason not to make a change. Lastly, if we do want to "keep the status quo" until 2020-2021 then Schiano IS a good fit because he will clean up the lack of discipline and off-field issues, we will have an actual team identity (a painful one to watch at times) and will not be getting blown out by almost every team with a winning record like we have been.

I won't disagree but maybe make a clean break? Throw money at the problem and see what happens? I guess my concern with Schiano is you get a Beamer situation. You are paying 3 million and still getting 7 or 8 wins. People love him so you can't fire him and it is want it is. I feel same way about Franklin. He can recruit but isn't a good coach. 5 million should get you more that. Third or fourth in your division?

Schiano won't demand $3 mill. He should demand enough for him and a great OC. He doesn't need a DC as no one available is better then him. Being 3rd in the Big Ten would make a lot of us very happy. That means you beating some of the heavy hitters in the Big Ten.

Since I was talking 3 rd in the division regarding Franklin I'll ignore the comment. As for OC that's the million dollar question. Would he leave him alone? Would anyone trust him to leave him alone? As for the money he would make us.....how many times did he finish in the top three during his tenure here? Now take away Cuse, USF, and UCONN and substituteMichigan, Meyer, and MSU..

From what I recall schiano finished in the top 3 2006 and 2008 both with 5-2 records in conference. Top 4 in 2005 and 2011.

You have must have missed his many comments about control. So yes he can be trusted about him knowing his strengths and weaknesses. He can recruit, aspired to run a clean program and keep players eligible and got RU to the top of APR standings. He established the athletic academic group that is used by all sports which Flood ignored. So yes would love Schiano back. Flood's actions and lack of recruiting skills pale in comparison to even Schiano's worst years

Lol. So top 3 in a shit conference twice in his tenure? We should offer him 4 million.....
Where do you get $4 million??? You do understand he made only $2 million at RU and just $3 million at Tampa.

You do realize that most years we had less talent and depth than the top 3 in conference right? We overachieved many years. 2006 is a prime example. The top 3 often had much better QBs, WRs, RBs and lines than we did. And to get Schiano we'd probably have to pay $3mill not $4mill. He was making $2mill here before he left. A $1mill bump due to NFL experience doesn't seem too unreasonable to me. We'd probably also need an additional $2mill for his assistants especially so that he can hire a great OC and retain good position coaches like Panagos.

Ok. Let's see how the reporters respond upon his arrival. Will they be as scared now as they were then? Are their bosses more eager for clicks these days ? Funny how all the bad came out after he left....wonder if that changes in 2016. I won't get into the recruit stuff since it's the biggest fallacy on this board. He couldn't out recruit Pornstache or LVille but he's gonna own Franklin, Meyer, and harbarough. Lol

VKJ, either your hatred for Schiano or your love affair for Flood is having you're posts on here shaking my head. Please tell me why Flood is better than Schiano? I don't remember Schiano getting a 3 game ban for being so F-ing stupid

Why people want a slightly better Kyle Flood back who never won anything of substance is beyond me when there are literally hundreds of other options. Greg Schiano has proven to be a mediorce coach who could not get us to the next level. So what if he brought discipline and wasnt embarrassing us. You are aware other coaches are capable of that too?

I have not hatred for Schiano or love for Flood. I'm just being honest about actual results. We have guys saying he is master recruiter and then saying he had less talent than those in the BE. Which is it? I'll say it for the 50th time....bring him back. Can't wait to see the response when we take the field. Still waiting for the response to my question about your posts during USF and UCONN. Finally, he would come back for 3 million..lol. Do you know what kind of coach we could get for 3 million? I'd rather pay someone else 2.5 and give him a million to be dC. You guys want to spend 3 million on a guy who never went to major bowl or won his conference. Smh.

If people don't think Greg Schiano, with more wisdom and a BIG ten school to sell recruits, will do well, idk what they are smoking. He took a laughing stock and made it into a respectable big ten football program. The guy would take this program and make it a top 4 program in the B1G east I have no doubt. And give us some damn good defensive games when we get the OSUs of the world at home, at night. Rather than potential blood baths.

You are crazy if you are not the least bit intrigued by a possible GS return.

No one said he was a "master" recruiter. He was a good recruiter able to take recruits from the PSUs and OSUs of the world every now and again. All the while handicapped by playing in the perceived weak Big East in a small stadium and smalltime fanbase. Not to mention having to defend the possibility of Rutgers being relegated to the now non-P5 conferences which made our program look weak with uncertanty hanging over us.

Now he would be coaching in the Big Ten (the most prestigious conference in the country), in a bigger stadium and a slightly better fanbase (in size) while having his NFL coaching experience to hang his hat on. Now he can tell a kid, he KNOWS what it'll take to get that kid from HS to the NFL because he has coached and developed players at every level. THAT is powerful to a recruit. I could see him out recruiting Franklin at PSU because he's a better Xs and Os guy, has better experience and he's a better salesman.

I think its helpful to look at the coaches in our division and think who is X better than. With Flood its a tough conversation. I would take most other staffs. With Schiano, MSU, OSU, Michigan are all clearly better. Some others, I am not so sure. Schiano was generally out coached by the "good coaches" we faced. It was a major gripe at the time.

It's as if people on this board think there are only two options. Flood or a slightly better Flood, his mentor (Schiano) it's mind numbing how simplistic the arguments are.
