Who do Brown and Towers want as HC in 2016?

The reason no one heard of it is because all of that is hearsay, but doesn't seem as bad to me as 7 arrests for violent assault and a 3 game suspension for academic fraud.

Schiano beat #3 Ville, #2 USF, #25 USF, #17 Pitt...since 2005 he beat Pitt and Cuse 5 out 7 times. Flood is 0-2 against TTFP, and save it because the current iteration of TTFP is way worse than Pitt was most of those years, won all but one bowl game, and was not blown out by the best BE teams every time we played them. We beat the BE champ in 06, lost by 3 in 08, beat them in 10, lost by 10 in 11, versus absolute demolition by anyone with more than 7 wins the past two years.

You conveniently ignore recruiting which is a significant issue here, Schiano recruited top players with reliability, only Wanny really edged him out a handful of times. We did not worry about losing recruits to TTFP, nevermind Cuse or Temple, which is now a problem. Some guy from Texas is not going to come in here and make up the talent gap against local guys.

More than anything what I think many of us find very frustrating is that you and the other Flood guys will just not admit the error of your ways. Flood has devastated this program, on and off the field, and we warned time and time again about this, rumors were swirling and it got to the point where people where banned for being negative and now look what happened.
I see we are back to listing teams rankings when we beat them vs how they ended up. Funny, when people hated Schiano that was considered taboo. Please go back and look at recruiting before you make those comments. Before the Pitt guys we were losing kids it UNC, Pitt and a bunch of others. Also, pretty sure Schiano rarely finished above 3rd in BE recruiting rankings. Let's not make believe he'd come here and start having top 10 ore classes. Program is far from devastated and there is more than enough talent to go bowling next year. And again, I wasn't pro flood. I was pro not locking Into some MAC guy for 2 million a year. Pretty much guaranteeing us 8 more years of 6,7,8 wins a year. I wanted to wait until full share and then do it right. Sadly, Flood forced out hand.

Did we lose any recruits to Cuse or Temple between 05 and Flood?

Schiano finished 2nd twice, so I guess he outdid the rankings?

What recruits did we lost to Temple outside of the kid whose parent went there. Ignoring the fact he chose temple over a lot of schools. Also, I'm sure Schiano did but I'd have to go back and check

I don't read VKJ's posts as "wanting Flood." I see them as an argument that if you can afford Greg (and his $4M comment was sarcastic, perhaps not so obviously) you can afford someone that is on par and a clean break.

Glad it wasn't just me.

I thought the same thing.

why is everyone so obsessed with Schiano, he left, he moved on and left us hanging right before signing day. He's gone, he's not the only coach in America. I remember all those drives where I knew the other team would drive downfield and win the game and thats exactly what they did. Too many unprepared, butchered games for me to want him back. If Flood gets canned then get someone else.

Schiano would have never gotten fridge to come even for 1 season and we would've been stuck with the wild knight until Janarion Grant or Carroo were in a full body cast

He did nothing that any of us wouldn't do. He took a better job. I truthfully doubt he was thrilled at leaving the place he had built from nothing in a lurch like that. I'd venture to guess that much of the talk surrounding Schiano is because he did the unthinkable once, and did it here. He built us from a national laughingstock into a program that the school and fans could be proud of...both on and off the field. What we've watched so far this season has crumbled the foundation that this program was built on. Therefore, its only natural to look to the man who built it in the first place.

Again, 2011-Schiano left much to be desired in the coaching department. It's now 2015. I'd like to think he's learned a thing or two after his albeit humbling NFL experience. I do think his presence here would immediately help to restore credibility to what is now an ailing program.

Schiano (in conjunction with Pernetti) was a master marketer and brought some pride to Rutgers Students and Fans. Those block R's we see everywhere are because of him. Students filling their section of the stands before the game begins is because of him (we were lucking to see them by halftime if at all before him). Throngs of parents and kids lining up by the bus to great the players - again because of him. Getting to bowl games (yes, sometimes because of a weak schedule) is because of him. Winning them is also because of him. Having top academic honors is because of him. Getting a ton of players in the NFL - again because of him. This all helped with his recruiting (and landing us a top 25 class his last year). He was not a great X's and O's coach and that was his shortcoming although I do believe he build strong defensive teams. But his real success came when he recruited that incredible offensive line that was in front of Ray Rice. It allowed the offense to click and made up for his sometimes challenged play calling.

I thought he got us as far as he could given what he had. I was of the belief we would eventually need to upgrade to get to next level. But now I think it would be nice to see what he could do with the Big Ten card in his pocket.

They made a huge mistake with Flood. Any good business man knows you don't make a knee-jerk reaction to solve a short-term issue at the expense of the long term. They did not want to lose Schiano's top 25 recruiting class and that is exactly what they did. . Instead of thinking about upgrading and getting a bigger name coach in here that would better the team and recruiting going forward they panicked. They went with the bird in hand with no head coaching experience. While we were able to retain most of Schiano's top 25 recruiting class, we sacrificed every year after dropping as much as 30 spots in the following year and have not cracked the top 50 since. We have a shot of being mid-40s (which isn't good enough) this year but after the most recent debacles we can kiss that goodbye. His stubborness at QB has cost us a non-shared Big East Championship and a shot at a BCS bowl game. It has lead us to 1-2 in bowl gaimes. And it has led to a less disciplined team whose academic achievements are not in question because he single-handedly decided he was above the rules (despite being told not to). He judgement of character is even worse given for whom he risked the reputation of the team and university - a person who will likely be a convicted felon.

With regard to Caroo, we'll see how the facts play out. Void of the actual assault, his actions are driven by an instinct to protect his girlfriend. Young emotions overruled common sense although him ignoring others advice to out of it smells of the same actions by said coach (but the coach is not a young kid). With regard to the other thugs who robbed houses and assaulted students, that was purely a choice that cannot be excused by young emotions.

The coach needs to go. It was the wrong choice from the beginning and he has set the program back 10 years and tainted the pride and respect that Schiano brought to the program. For that alone he should be fired.

That's my opinion but I know a lot of alumni who feel the same (it took some awhile to get there but don't know many now who support keeping Flood).

The problem is that Flood has ended up being so bad that he is making Schiano look better than he actually was. I was never thrilled with Schiano's game day coaching but at this stage of the game, would welcome him back in a heartbeat as he would restore order. Who knows, maybe his experiences over the last few years has helped him become a better coach. At this point, even with his old baggage, he would be a huge upgrade over who is running the show now.

Reactions: RUskoolie
Just because I didn't go to RU doesn't mean I don't get the same response from family and friends as they know how invested I am in this team. No, the losses I posted weren't just from after EL's injury they were every season. I'm not saying there isn't a wide divide between the two coaches, I'm simply saying the results wouldn't be very different. I don't get how you guys can sit here and make believe his record here wasn't what it was. You talk about all these ranked teams he beat? Who were they? You talk about never having been embarrassed......didn't we have a kid on our team who shot someone in the back of the head in Paterson? I don't remember the story bc I'm not a fan that long but someone mentioned that to me last week. Ever hear the term "Ray Rice don't do tests"? Didn't we have a guy get suspended for shooting students with a pellet gun? You do t think kids got in fights when Schiano was here? Hell, we had two players fighting on the field after the NAVY game. Remember that brilliant coaching lesson? I will say it for the millionth time, I'm fine with Schiano coming back. Just promise me all the whiners won't go crazy when we are still treading water at 6 or 7 wins year in and year out. Here's a news flash, we need to get away from the pro set if we are ever going to take the next step. We simply will never be able to recruit the talent you need and will always be a FB, TE, OL away from having what we need. Our only shot is to hire an x and o guy who runs the spread and hope he can grab enough NJ athletes to make us relevant. Find the money for Herman, hire a Dino Babers, or make a splash and take the OC from TCU. The same guy who lit us up while he was at Houston. But no, let's go back to Schiano and make believe this board loved him five years ago. I'm still waiting for people to be honest about their posts during that UCONN game, the USF game before Deering's KO return when about 15k of us were still in our seats. How about the epic death struggle with Army BEFORE Eric's injury? The list goes on and on but some people are so caught up in the legend they can't remember what game day was really like.
I agree 100% with you about the run and shoot, spread is the way to go in college football. Also, I seem to remember you had a list at one time of up and coming HC candidates from non P5 schools I'd love to see again. GS had his time, and it has passed, and I feel we need a wide open young mind to excite the recruits and fan base again.

Why people want a slightly better Kyle Flood back who never won anything of substance is beyond me when there are literally hundreds of other options. Greg Schiano has proven to be a mediorce coach who could not get us to the next level. So what if he brought discipline and wasnt embarrassing us. You are aware other coaches are capable of that too?
Because Schiano is the devil we know! True, GS was a control freak when he was here but with age and wisdom he has probably mellowed. He was a good recruiter and if he gets the right OC. We have the makings of a decent program.

This. Schiano is all this fanbase knows as a success here. He represents the opposite of what is currently taking place (unimaginative defense, no discipline, lack of toughness, no fear of HC, poor recruiting). That's why people want him back and as I said earlier this week: If Rutgers pea-brain goal is to tread water until 2020-2021 when we finally have a full share, then why not pay a guy 2.5m when we know EXACTLY what we are getting, rather some OC/DC for less money that is an unknown? At least I will proud of our team again and know the good and bad I'll be getting. He's not my first choice but if Rutgers is going to go down the penny pinching path, then I'll be fine having Schiano back. I think Julie is going to swing for the fences again, the only question is have the donors learned from their mistake in 2013 or will they use 6 wins as an excuse not to pay. I would if I could, but I can't.
