Whose decision was it to enforce the ban on outside food and drink?

Now that you've reminded me R "twizzler lady" in section 125 disappeared years ago-maybe you inherited her. Another fan chased away by R "crew"? (doubt it -"we've" mellowed out a tad and she sat many rows behind us).
I also sit in 125 so maybe the threat of incarceration scared her away. Safety first as our new security firm would say.

Honestly, I would rather be safe than have you tightwads be permitted to bring in sub sandwiches. Its a 3.5 hour game. You can eat before or after. If you have a medical need for snacks, the school has a procedure to get cleared.

Lol. I seriously do not understand what is wrong with these people. Our fanbase constantly cries about not having money to compete, needing more donations, etc., then cries harder when it has to spend an extra couple bucks on a bottle of water or, god forbid, cough up for a hot dog instead of stuffing its face with smuggled peanuts.

No wonder we're the laughingstock of the country.

I don't understand the issue. This reminds me of people tht complain about getting bumped from the blue lot to black now we are A big time program (whether you admit it or not). It's a sacrifice you make. Whatever source of entertainment you go to with kids, a movie theater, Chuckie cheese, minor league ball game, they don't allow outside food and drink. Most major sports won't allow it either. You should be thankful you were allowed to for so long anyways

Are these the same people that sneak their own candy bars into the movies or carry a flask into a bar?

I would blame the new security company...Rutgers hired them to absolve themselves of any blame so have to play by their rules

Sorry, we try to eat well in my family. We don't eat greasy fast food. The food options in the stadium are terrible. Bringing food from home was the only option for us especially when we have so many games at 12:00 p.m. Simply eating before or after the game isn't an option. Who doesn't eat between 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.?

I have never brought in food and don't care to do so. I have brought in water and ice and would like to do so. The concession stand at 225 has run out of water numerous times. On a hot day that is looking for a major law suit when someone gets dehydrated. I could care less about the money if they had water, but they don't.

And that wouldn't be a problem if there was a water fountain or two upstairs.

I suppose that's a fair point (plus I like the twizzlers that get thrown). The sub sandwiches always kind of bothered me. I mean that could be anything in there. It always amazed me that it was allowed.

I guess ideally you need to have security discretion (no 12" sub, yes to snack size bag of pretzels) but in this day and age, we can't have anybody doing anything on a discretionary basis. Damn lawyers.

The stadium food is dog food (& that's being nice about it) & the concessions operations are abysmal. They run out of stuff in the 2Q & you don't find out until after waiting in line for 20 mins or longer. MetLife Stadium doesn't do this.

If the food is so lousy and rotten and whatever other descriptor you can come up with, put your money where your mouth is literally. Band together and put up enough cash to cover whatever the breakage fee is for the Sodexo contract. But also be ready to cover the cost on a new contract as well. Do you want to whine that's expecting too much of you? Newsflash: you are fans of a P5 Conference team, not one in the Big Least or the AAC. Stop thinking you're going to somehow magically get something for nothing.

Oh and Shill, let me put your complaining in perspective: as you waste your breath complaining about life, someone out there is breathing their last. Appreciate the fact you can still get into the Stadium and enjoy your life.

I rarely eat meals in that timeframe. And, while I recognize most do, can't you just eat at 11:00 and/or 4:30. Really not that complicated.

Why is it the fans job to cover the cost of incompetence & poor decision making? I donate thousands of dollars each year & have season tickets & parking for multiple sports & expect to at least have edible food & competent concessions operations, like at many other stadiums/arenas, which isn't too much to ask. Rutgers should've selected a better food vendor or negotiated better terms, maybe even an out clause, & should hold any food vendor to some level of food quality standards. People seems to like the Livingston Dining Hall food, so it appears that our own Dining Services may have been better for this. Rutgers should also use a POS system. They just signed a deal with a company to use a POS system in the Audi Club but not stadium wide, which doesn't make much sense. Sodexo ETF aside, what fees would we have to pay a new food vendor?

Still waiting for a name. Whose decision was it?

Before the water ban Homeland Security had sent Rutgers (and I presume all similar venues)
an alert which resulted in the change. The food ban...?????

This discussion would be easier to follow if we knew what Bac thought.

Seriously, it does not appear that Met Life has instituted a similar policy since per the stadium websitefood in a clear bag and factory sealed water bottles up to 20 oz. are allowed to be carried in. Why should Rutgers be different.

Still waiting for a responsible answer to this question. It's OK to bring food and water into MetLife Stadium but not to HPSS ? Just tell us why and not hide behind a non response.

Hobbs or Baumgartner should be able to respond to this question because it is a big issue with many RU FB fans. Are they afraid to address the issue and why ?

We can't get them to return the horse video & a good players entrance, even after the fan advisory board asked for the video, yet you think they're going to answer this? Let's also ask when The Alley is returning....

They did address the issue. You can choose to accept their reasoning or not.

Pretty much how I feel about it. But I guess for some people, bringing food and beverages into the stadium is a really big deal. Go figure.
theres aguy 2 rows in front of me, he has 6 season tix for as long as i know, he brings his 4 kids, on the hot day day against howard he had to buy 3 rounds of water to keep them from passing out, 18 bottles of water, shop rite is selling 3 cases of 24 for 9.00. poor guy had to shell out $72.00 or the 18 bottles not to mention the $5.00 dogs , some of assholes here would say too bad but is this a fair way to treat your fans, by the way besides paying for his game tickets and the ouragous parking fees of $50.00 per game he has to pay the seat tax of $1500 if you can afford this then god has blessed you, not everyone can handle this

From what I heard Sodexo is hurting big time this year because of smaller crowds and we have to meet a minimal $ number. Put 2 and 2 together.

Must have missed it. What was the response to the fact that mets/Yankees/giants-jets all still currently allow it? If a major govt agency is really putting out a directive to secure the entrance wouldn't they do it for the spots that have much more people than hpss?

In what world does an organization owe you a full explanation, plus time for a counter and subsequent response, for its every micro-decision?

Why not just drop it already?

My religion doesn't allow me to eat between 11:30 am and 4:00 pm, particularly in the fall on Saturdays...

The fact you ask why explains everything as to where the failure is on your part.
So you don't have the answers or choose not to respond. Got it. Don't come on here scolding people & then run away or act like you're above them when they ask questions & try to have a rational discussion with you.

these are things that are clearly worse than the game day experience. I still am puzzled over the whole pre game stuff which is a total disaster this year and it goes beyond the horse video. Just who is in charge and whats their reasoning. Overwhelming people are negative toward what they are doing yet no change or no communication as to why the video was axed

There you go...a very reasonable answer.
I love the posters who think they ought to just charge us all a $20-$25 subsidy at the gate cause that will make us win.

Tell you what. How bout instead of a flat fee they charge me $10 per ticket per touchdown they score + $1 per first down. I'm in!

This isn't some pro venue and it isn't some big time football experience. it is Rutgers College. its F in Rutgers. and as always the cart before the horse and an over-inflated perspective on the product and the fan base.

I coughed up an extra grand this year as a donation and now I can't throw candy in the stands as I did past 5+ years so Sodexo makes its cash (cause somebody eat 1oz of candy..oh my) . Cool Rutgers, you just gave them YOUR $ cause you pissed me off.
