Why didn't we foul at end of C. Ark game?

Up 3 with 5 seconds to go after we hit both FT's....and though we caught a break with the Central Ark player going right to the basket for 2 (which he missed) rather than squaring up for the 3 - I would have fouled the C. Ark player when he crossed half court with about 2-3 secs to go - so that the possibility of them hitting a 3 and tying the game would have been avoided - especially as it seems that they're a decent 3 point shooting team.

Also coincidentally, don't know which RU player it was, but when the Central Ark player went to the basket at the end of the game - the RU defender tried to block the shot - and could you imagine a basket with a foul.....lol...

Did not see the game at all, but would suggest if you foul you better do it before half court..... If you do it Over mid court, with our luck, we would time it when a player turns to shoot, giving the player three foul shots..... Some times things like that happen to us, we just do the right thing the wrong way

You are right Phil. This is part of the problem GRI rails about in Eddie being the only voice in the huddle or before the huddle. An assistant should have been yelling that to Eddie or direct to Goode as the kid crossed half court just like I was yelling from my seat in the 4 th row center court!!!

Don't care if the average fan has never heard of them. Central Arkansas that played us last night would have beaten St. John's by 15, just like we should have beaten them if we did not melt down.

They were 2-27 last year in a joke conference. Stop it. We had to play sanders and freeman all 20 in 2nd half.

I don't believe this was an oversight. I believe this is EJs philosophy (not to foul). We will get burned at some point not fouling up 3

I guess you were not at the game or cannot see with your own eyes. That team played a really well played game that had smart offensive execution. What that team was last year is irrelevant. Our team last yer would have lost yesterday. Stop being an asshat!!!

I get it you hate when you do not see defensive intensity all game long. What I saw was Daniels did not even try to get a rebound a loose ball and was selfish and should have sat on the bench the rest of the game like when Eddie benched him. Everybody else was playing hard but sometimes you have to give the other team some credit.
I am sure you liked the steals by Freeman and Sanders by jumping into the passing lanes in last few minutes, so stop it with all the general stuff. Sanders, Freeman, Williams and Foreman played hard , double doubles for our guys do not come easily

Agree....Coaches have different philosophies about the foul or no foul issue at all levels of basketball. I have seen many coaches talk about their philosophy in post game interviews.

Sometimes there are disadvantages..... if you foul, the team gets to advance the ball and set up a play to run an inbounds plan to get off a 3 pointer. In this situation CA had to Go 90 feet and rush..... it's harder to get off a 3 point shot.

If they were inbounding at half court with a set play....the foul would have used because that's when you use it to see what type of play they plan to run.

How many loose balls do you think they lost to CA? I'm rewatching the game.....I just don't see them and I'm keeping count.

Central Arkansas is not a very good team. Easily the worst of the three teams we have faced thus far (I don't count Rutger-Newark). Not a good effort defensively. First really bad defensive effort thus far.

Not good on the staff for not giving the foul.
