I've been thinking, if you look at the championship game tonight, you have ALA who has been there, what 5 out of the last 10 years. If you look at the top coaches, Meyer, Saban, Sweeney, they have won where ever they have been. Now Coach Ash, being in his 1st year, by all accounts, had a horrendous 1st year, you can say he's changing his system, not having his players,.....

Let's take a look at Tom Hermann, Matt Rhule, Franklin, as a comparison, they turned around their programs.

My point here is, there are coaches who you can put in any situation and will turn things around. With Ash, the verdict is still out, I'm disappointed only because we had an experienced DL and RB's but that didn't show up on the field. Would another coach had better results?

I'm not just going to give him a pass this year, some of the scores were just unacceptable, I'm hoping for much improvement next year, otherwise we may be looking for change. I'm not expecting to beat Ohio St. or Mich but certainly not losing to them by 50 pts. either.

Next year, let's see if we can go 6-6 and make a minor bowl game, low expectations but achievable, anything else wold be a failure in my book.

how did Saban do with the Dolphins?

or John McKay with Tampa Bay?

or Steve Spurrier in the NFL.

point being, great college coaches that win big are great recruiters, but that winning doesn't last when they get to the pros and no longer have superior talent.

it's still about the Jimmys and the Joes.

So if he doesn't meet your expectations of 6-6 and minor bowl game you suggest what? Fire him after only two years. That's not a real good precedent to set. Who are you going to get to come here? With the knowledge if they don't get it done in two years they're gone. The guy hasn't even had a full recruiting class yet. You know there's a reason most of us weren't meant to be AD's in life.:D

Belechick and Saban were both at Cleveland. OP needs to do some fact checking.

OP compared the mess Ash inherited to Tom Herman, Rhule and Franklin's situations.

Can we go one day without someone speaking nonsense?

What's the nonsense, someone has to be accountable for the year we just had. Did you expect the blowouts withthe DL we had?

If you think Chris Ash inherited the same stability and talent relative to the conference he was playing in as Herman, Rhule and Franklin then you are a full blown retard.

If there are 70-0 blowouts, yea, than I expect changes, if you don't than I don't know what to tell you.

He did inherit a stable of good RB's, a decent DL, maybe not as competitive but certainly not 70-0 caliber.

Yeah ughh, that's why we just changed our offensive staff. Just putting that out there in case you didn't notice.[eyeroll] Yeah decent DL, no LB's whatsoever and a young secondary. Gee I wonder whose's fault that is.

because you have to actually watch football or at least look at context.
The three years at PSU pre Franklin they were 24-13
The three years at Temple before Rhule they were 21-11
Houston was 21-19
RU was 18-20

Rhule was 2-10 his first year at Temples as well.
While I give huge credit to Franklin for this season despite hating him don't forget he also go blown out pretty bad to Michigan this season.

I'm all for giving a Mulligan this past year, but if we see similar results than I don't know what to say. I have to give the staff credit for the recruiting with the year we just had but I expect better results or improvement next year.

You think our RBs and DL were "good" because the rest of our position groups talent level was that bad. Will there be any draft picks from either group this year or next? How about any UDFAs? Wake up.

Well, Martin and Hicks will be back so I don't see them getting drafted and maybe Hamilton or one of the other lineman getting drafted is a possibility.
