That’s the rule in football in basketball you just need to establish yourself inbounds. Doesn’t matter though the guy who passed it to him stepped out of bounds too.
Can they review and overturn an out of bounds play?
We know they can for clock, 3 pt shots etc

the officals have an obligation to review the entire shot at the end and onky chose to to review the clock and if he got it off

Thing is, there was nothing wrong with the shot. The shot was clean. When he started the shot, he had two feet inbounds, and the ball cleared his hands before the clock expired. Zero wrong with the shot, so you can review the shot all day long. The blown call was when the shooter caught the pass.

Sadly the play is not reviewable apparently. Which is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard but those are the rules. The refs blew it by not making the call in real time. Big Ten will always protect a home OSU
The rule was posted. You can absolutely be the first person to touch the ball if you run out of bounds, but you have to clearly establish yourself back inbounds before touching it.

I think Roger Ayers was the official that blew the call . He should not work another BIG game again this season . Same with the other guy on the baseline on that side.

I read it as you can NOT be the first to touch it if you go out on your own volition. Only if it is by momentum. I would say this is clearly just him going out of bounds by himself
Apparently both might be wrong and they may actually be confusing it with the football rule, i.e. where you can't touch the ball first if you voluntarily go OOB.
he got one foot in for sure but not 2 so I think it's a good shot, but what is momentum? He was OOB on purpose

Reviewing the entire shot means looking at his feet to see if he was in bounds …the entire shot, and not just If the ball is out of his hand at 0.0 on the clock
ya i should edit...a player who goes out of bounds on his own cannot be the first to catch the pass.
doesn't matter if his feet are in, he went out of bounds on his own, can't be the first to touch...is that reviewable?
