Wrestling Recruits

We compete with Oklahoma State by being Rutgers. No matter how impressive their histories are, PSU, Ok St. and Iowa aren't for everyone. Same goes for other sports. As for Ok St., the two cultures probably couldn't be further apart. Its not all about past accolades. Sure, John Smith has amazing credentials, but what that means for any young wrestler is up for debate, and his instruction may or may not be worth sitting in Oklahoma for 4 years. Then you add on scholarship availability and a path to cracking the starting lineup, etc. and you get separation. What PSU has done has been incredible... but it won't last forever. All Rutgers has to do is keep pushing forward, keep improving in all facets and we will have plenty of time to shine.

Example Mike Malgado never sniffed that line up.He actually stayed all 4 years.

Look at the recruiting ASU has done the last 2 years.
How in the heck can they fit that many wrestlers on their team?

1 So. Richard Figueroa Selma CA 1 Arizona St. (106)
8 Sr. Julian Chlebove Northampton PA 8 Arizona St. (132)
8 Sr. Adam Busiello Eastport NY 9 Arizona St. (138)
2 Jr. Sonny Santiago St. John Bosco CA 6* Arizona St.(152)
14 Sr. Zane Coleman Choctaw OK 17* Arizona St. (170)
16 Sr. Trey Munoz Trabuco Hills CA 16 Arizona St.(170)
8 Sr. Jacob Good Clovis CA 8 Arizona St.(195)
1 Sr. Cohlton Schultz Ponderosa CO 1 Arizona St. (285)

Nick Raimo is no longer committed to ASU.
Did they pull his offer or vice versa?
Hopefully Nick is very successfull where he winds up in college and not be another example of Mike Magaldo.

At least if you to to the IVY's and not wrestle, you get a top notch education.

That is what we need to do a better job of. I don't know how they do it, but the blue bloods seem to keep kids in back up roles more often than not.

They lost a couple of guys who could not sniff the lineup. They are starting somewhere else. 8th ranked Moran at Wisconsin and Harding UNC.
No one wants to beat a backup so wrestlers will take the opportunity to start somewhere else.I am not sure how all of these wrestlers stay at OKIE state. Gfeller was a back up to Brock before the injury to All American Lewallen. GFeller bump up in weight to take the spot who is now flourishing at the weigh as a top 4 guy.

A.J. Ferrari is a must get and we need another 1 or 2 elite 2020's. Also need to get Anthony Ferrari, Shayne Van Ness and Nic Bouzakis. Anyone have info on possibilities?

Feel free to add to or correct anything I may have missed or messed up.

With Britton coming I'm curious if it could open up the channels to others (Condomitti) in the Valley. I know we have good middleweights coming but never hurts to add one with the potential of Jagger.

Some notables uncommitted from Flo's first 2020-21 rankings after removing this year's seniors:

https://www.flowrestling.org/rankin...gs-2019-2020/31311-first-take-seniors-removed

P4P
A.J. Ferrari (jr, 220) #1
Beau Bartlett (jr, 132) #7
Shayne Van Ness (so, 132) #9

126
Anthony Clark (jr)

132
Beau Bartlett (jr) #1
Shayne Van Ness (so) #2
Nic Bouzakis (fr) #4
Do we have any ties to Bouzakis?? I c he is from FL..

Heard Bartlett is going to a NJ school... and it’s likely a ivy one... Princeton fits both these descriptions..

In the latest Flo rankings with seniors removed:

Poznanski #5 at 182
Shawver #7 at 126
O'Neil #8 at 160

If we can land Ferrari (and then Van Ness) it would be absolute program changer for us to get to that next level.

Ferrari leaning towards 197 or heavyweight in college? I’d presume heavy

He’s good enough to AA as a true freshman at either weight.. that said, he’s wrestling 220 rn for hs... man hwt will be stacked.. with gable Stevenson and the top 2 incoming p4p are proj hwt too.. hope if he goes to RU he can make 197..

Family is from NY and very friendly with the Ferrari's. Rumors they've contemplated Blair/NJ

We should have an inside track with Clark, hes Oliveris cousin.
Van Ness and Bouzakis are the better recruits. Not sure what weight all 3 will be for college but I'd target them first, if weights are close as they've been.

Agree they're ranked higher just saying Clark s cousin is here. There is also a younger oliveri who I think was a state champ

Oh well looks like the Ferrari sh*tliner has sailed. We really need these last two recruiting classes to pay off big time or this program is going to take a step back.

John Poznanski is competing in FS at FloNationals today.

He won by VSU1 (12-2) in his first round match up.
