Really hope we can find room on our schedule to wrestle them every year.

Would be a great dual with both of their lineups having a lot of Jersey flavor.

How about an annual tri meet between Rutgers, Rider, and Lehigh? The location could be rotated and a trophy could be given out. $$$$

Its a joke that they are ranked higher. Good for the state though. If we did wrestle i would say 7-3 us. Maybe 6-4. 149 would a good for sure

They should do a New Jersey type dual meet. Princeton, rider, Rutgers. Throw in stevens and TCNJ. Would be a good day of wrestling.

Let Rider twist in the wind some more. I don't like their attitude towards us. Add Lehigh back, add UPenn, rotate Edinboro & Pitt. And to really aggravate them, we could add Clarion, Bucknell, Bloomsburg to the rotation.

That wouldn't really help the rumors we're the party who wants no part of them. I think that is a large cause of their 'crappy' attitude towards us. True or untrue, its what people around NJ have been saying since the schedules were released.

Many of those people around NJ & the nj.com forums that proliferate that myth are out of touch with reality. I'd give Rider the Heisman for at least 5 more years.

What's the reality?

LMAO. Goodale has beaten them 5 straight years & is 5-1 vs them, yet we're dodging them? Please. That ego trash talk is certainly part of the problem.

We have history with a bunch of teams & can't wrestle all of them. I took a quick look at the fact book to see which active D1 schools we've wrestled the most & when the series started (hopefully I didn't miss any):

Princeton 77 (1931)
Columbia 52 (1931)
Lehigh 44 (1941)
Army 43 (1932)
F&M 42 (1961)
UPenn 31 (1932)
Drexel 28 (1979)
Navy 27 (1950)
Bucknell 24 (1960)
Harvard 24 (1961)
Brown 23 (1937)
Hofstra 22 (1969)
Rider 19 (1995)
PSU 18 (1960)

I think the fact we've dominated them is all the more reason to schedule them. Especially now that they have a young, strong and talented group of kids.

Our sport needs more 'marquee' matches, so-to-speak. Two of NJs best college programs going at it is good for the sport. I don't really think wrestling can withstand the type of vindictive mind set of not putting exciting matches together for the purposes of teaching teams a lesson for their alleged bad attitude towards us.

The factor being left out of this conversation is the money and recruiting aspect. Think of the huge draw a Rutgers vs Rider match would be right now. This match would pack the RAC. As far as recruiting, the winner would develop a stronghold on the top New Jersey recruits. Interest may die down in the future but right now it is at a peak because both teams have very talented line-ups. I say schedule it again next year.
