I thought it would be a good idea to keep track of the recruits and their State tourney results in one thread. I will try to update as I can. Feel free to add when you see results.

In Virginia, Jackson Turley (182) is the top seed in the VISAA tourney. He pinned in his first two bouts in 22 seconds and 18 seconds. He is looking for his fourth title.

EDIT: I know these are early round/district results and our recruits will dominate at this point.

I'm having a little trouble finding Devon Britton (138 - Northampton HS) in PA. He still might be hurt.

Probably not enough room for all the mats they use. I think they use 8 mats for the first 2 days. RAC only has room for 3.

Here's some food for thought...what about utilizing the side area at the RAC where they have the VIP dinner before BB games? AND, once the new facility is open, they can put some mats in there. I realize seating will be an issue in certain areas.

The NJSIAA is not going to put that huge tournament into two separate rooms with no easy way to see all the mats at once, plus that other room has no seating and I’m not sure how many mats It can even hold. The RAC is just way way too small . The NJSIAA makes a bundle in Atlantic City, it’s not going to change

More semi results:
Aragona by Fall at 1:40
Kanniard by TF (19-3) in 2:55
Poznanski by fall in :15
O'Neil by TF (15-0) in 3:50
Harrison by fall in 1:05

Turley finals wins by fall in :048

Did Turley just first period pin his way through the state tournament? Or was that VA districts?

Yeah, I think the Meadowlands/The Rock are the only suitable venues (size/seating capacity) in the state other than Boardwalk Hall...

District finals results:

Aragona wins by fall in 1:35
O'Neil wins 5-2
Harrison by fall in 2:27
Poznanski by fall in 0:48
Kanniard by Forfeit

I think it is their prep tournament. He is a 4-time champ.
Virginia is a little ridiculous when it comes to individual state champs, they have 6 public school state champions per weight and an additional Prep state champ. As Clearscreen25 mentioned Turley won his 4th VA Prep state championship. He will have his test at Prep Nationals when he goes against the best Prep schools in the country.

Curious to see how O'Neil does in regions against Asatrian from Paramus (Bergen Catholic transfer who recently became eligible)

Region seedings coming out today:

Region 1:
Not official, but assume Aragona top seed at 138 with a first round Bye

Region 2:
O'Neil top seed at 160 with a first round Bye - he could face an undefeated Asatrian of Paramus (and BC previously) in the finals

Region 4:
Harrison top seed at 152 with a first round Bye
Poznanski top seed at 182 with a first round Bye

Region 6:
Kanniard top seed at 160 with a first round Bye

AC is waaaaaayy better. Most people stay the entire weekend at one of the casinos. We used to party all night then watch wrestling all day. The RAC cant seat the capacity crowds that go to states. Also AC offers adults a whole lot more to do after the wrestling is over. It’s no comparison tbh

The National Prep Championships will be next weekend, FloWrestling streams it.

Turley should be a very high seed, possibly #2 behind Carter Starocci of Erie Cathedral Prep. Starocci's 285 teammate, Kawaun Deboe, is the #7 ranked 285, a senior and uncommitted. Not sure if RU has any interest in him. He also plays football, but did not commit in football recently.

Brackets are on track wrestling

All brackets:

PS- On Friday and Saturday you can watch Region 4 w Cody Harrioson and John Poznanski for free via Statelinersports.com, they focus on Phillipsburg wrestlers, obviously, their play by play guy is a long time veteran probably better than anyone on BTN or ESPN.

At 285, that Region final will mostly likely have Fernandes (Vorhees/Cornell) vs Sistrunk , Bound Brook , uncommitted, the #2 in NJ .

And RU's 285 Chris Colucci's brother Nick, is the top seed at 220 for St Peters in this region.

Fernandes is unreal. Saw him at District 14. Took our guy out during finals in seconds. Didn’t break a sweat all day.

The Pburg announcer Mike Moore is great.

Turley is the Number 1 seed at 182 for Prep Nationals which start tomorrow. His bracket has Craft from Blair and Roberts from Wyoming Seminary both of whom he beat earlier this year at the Beast. Turley likely will face the winner of Craft/Roberts in the finals.

Prep Nationals are available on Flo.

Although not an RU commit(hopefully he will be), Van Ness at 132 coming up soon on Mat 8.

Also, as has been reported on here, we are recruiting Villareal the #12 ranked Junior Heavy from Gilroy California - same school as our 125-pounder Aguilar. He is in the CA State QF having won his first 3 matches by pin in :49, 4-1 decision and pin in 2:31.

Turley is 1-1 against Roberts this year.
True but I think Turley has the edge here.

He lost a tough one to Roberts 4-2 in the Ironman Final where he was the aggressor most of the match. He also beat the #1 ranked Winston at that tourney. Then he came back a few weeks later and beat Roberts 10-5 at the Beast.

Turley does not shy away from top competition and has avenged earlier losses (Roberts, Nijenhuis). That is great to see from a guy as he moves forward in college.
