2-stage snowblower, most likely. Single stage, probably not. Will snowblowers even work with this mix type stuff we have gotten? Im in central jersey (Hamilton) it looks like about 3" of sleet snow mix on the ground

Many years back I did the same as you during a snow and sleet storm, while my neighbors waited for the storm to end. When it was over they went out and were able to shovel down into the snow and lift the ice crust off. I was stuck trying to break and melt ice off my driveway for days.
yes its almost better to keep the snow as a buffer to the ground from the sleet, if you remove the snow, then the sleet will accumulate and it is virtually impossible to remove
I'm walking the streets of center city Philly and while overall the storm may be a bust, there certainly is not "basically nothing on the ground." Almost fell on my ass multiple times walking 2 blocks. It is slippery as all hell.6ABC in Philly just threw in the white towel. Instead of reverting back to local news to cover the "storm" they went the normal Live with Kelly. Ha!
With the back end of the storm crossing Delaware right now, Philly down through South Jersey has survived the worst with basically nothing on the ground.

Were gonna killed here in the poconos. Almost two feet already! Might be a bust for you kids In jersey but have never seen snow like this here
So my office decides on a delayed opening. Left for work about a half hour ago from Lawrenceville / sleet switched to snow around 1030. Made it a minute away from my place before getting stuck on quakerbridge rd - was able to gun it out with some cardboard to grip and turned right around for home. Sleet is now almost completely gone and the snow is coming good.
Measured 7-8 inches in multiple spots in my driveway in Morristown; we were supposed to get 22 inches according to weather.gov last night. Looks like the snow is about done.
If it makes you feel any better I got 1/2" of slush here in Howell.:) I spent all day yesterday prepping the farm for this epic March Nor'easter. And nothing. The ducks are in heaven right now, they have the run of the farm as all my other animals hate the cold rain. I would say down here it's a major bust, storm called for 5" to 8" and I got 1/2" of slush which is quickly dissipating. Were gonna killed here in the poconos. Almost two feet already! Im surprised they made you go back in. Getting a mix here to the north of you but like I said everyone could go back to a period of snow before this ends that could give an additional inch or so
The best sushi in this country is Kenko, and 46 Bistro (Lp) ain't too shabby
