2 Areas Need to Improve to compete in Vegas

I’m
If we ran an offense that emphasized shot selection, floor spacing movement with out the ball, with the pieces we have we should be getting good looks on most possessions against anyone!
My son ran into one of his AAU teammates , who finished up at Cal Baptist, after playing in the PAC 12 for 4 years, extra Covid year.
He was shocked that Rutgers lost to Keenesaw state.
They had no business beating a team with ACE on the court.
It’s coaching! Basketball is a small community. Pike needs to pull this together!
The basketball world is watching, everyone knows who ACE and Dylan are!
Totally agree with the black hole concern,
Nothing is more harmful to team unity, than a black hole.
Get stops, and then get more stops.
That’s Pikes offense

Even if you want to continue with this defeatist attitude about coaches and money Greg is top 33 in the country, Kirk is top 10 in the country,. Are you getting results to warrant this ridiculous loyalty to a bad football coach.

Where have you been the biggest job of a head coach in the new college landscape is NIL. He’ll all agents are negotiating that into coaches contracts. Cigentti coming from JMU or Prime coming from Jackson st didn’t seem to have a problem with raising NIL.

All of the old excuses are gone for Greg! He’s just bad
You mean 12th in the B1G? Are in 12th place?

An Encouraging Case Study: ‘19-‘20 St. Bonaventure

I was going through KenPom last night looking for straws to grasp onto, and the KSU game bears some remarkable similarities to the St. Bonaventure loss in 2019.

After some unconvincing performances at home against weak, local competition, Rutgers led 5-0 against the Bonnies before a disastrous first half saw them fall behind 43-24 right before the break. Rutgers cut the lead to four with five minutes remaining in a furious rally but ultimately couldn’t get over the hump.

St. Bonaventure was KenPom 166 entering the game compared to KSUs 178, quite similar when you factor in game location, and went down as a Q3 loss. Rutgers dipped to 79 in KP after starting the year at 64, almost identical to this year’s movement.

From there, Rutgers played elite basketball during its next 14 games, the only dud being a bad road loss at Pitt. You can’t derive anything of real significance from these similarities, but they are kind of remarkable and present a pathway for this season.

Rutgers vs UConn in Boca Raton?

Dont be so self loathing. We lost 4 in a row to end last year and beat Miami in the Pinstripe. And our players don't strike me as the types to opt out. UConn lost 50-7 to a team we literally beat a week ago.
A lot had to do with Miami missing numerous starters who opted out. Other than Melton everyone who was healthy played for us. Hope that is the case this year. Minnesota beat an Illinois team handily on the road. We beat Minnesota a week later. Shouldn’t we have beaten Illini? The UCONN- Maryland game is meaningless. And we are both different teams right now.

You think other coaches don’t have escalating clauses? Now the new coach also has to raise NIL too? Let’s go find that guy.

One other point re shot selection. Have been really surprised that Ace is so willing to settle for mid range contested shots instead of taking it to the hoop. With his length and leaping ability there is very little way to stop him without fouling.

He LITERALLY could lead the B10 in free throws if a concerted effort to take the ball to the hoop was made.
