OT: Stock and Investment Talk

Nice! I've been holding WMT around the same length of time. I worked there in the mid 90's and was enrolled in there employee stock purchase plan. I've held 90% of it ever since. Sadly I didn't reinvest the dividends the first 12-15 years or so because I didn't know I could. Now I definitely do.
Wow, nice hold! Big money with WMT. Been wanting to buy that one for a long time.

Poor NIL is the biggest reason for our disappointing season

And that’s great. Every amount of support that Rutgers gets is a win.

For this fundraising, the scope of our outreach is to Rutgers Basketball Fans, especially season ticket holders. I don’t think there is a lot of overlap here, with professional sports. There likely is overlap with Rutgers Football.

If you’re a Rutgers Basketball Season Ticket holder, you should be willing to kick in an extra $1K - $2K, because doing so will improve the value of your season tickets, by allowing Rutgers to put a better product out there. Since you’re going to spend all this time watching the basketball team, you should do a little more to ensure the basketball team will be worth watching.

That's completely clown shoes. Maybe if you're talking people in the 100s who are already donating a bunch to get priority points, but the people in the 300s are not going to throw an extra $2K on top of what they're already spending.

Maybe that's an angle - add NIL collective contributions to the priority point formula.

OT: New York Mets 2024-2025 Off Season Thread

I love how this is always written as a sign the Mets are moving on. How about the Mets are keeping their options open?
This is one of the things that happen when you have 8000 guys in their basement running what are essentially juiced up blogs, often about just one team. Reports come out from elsewhere, and then they just comment and write it like it's news.

Have owned CVX for over 30 years, getting in at around $13. Dividend in the 3.5% - 4.5% range for most of that time. Sometimes a case can be made for buy and hold.

THE OFFICIAL 2024-2025 NET RANKINGS THREAD

They were not NET killers . We did not drop 10-20 spots . Get real. Seton Hall has falling off the Cliff and is now 190 . They were not close to that when we beat them . We might have moved

They are now 132 and were 115/117 for a month. Those are not the teams that hurt your NET. Losing to 300 teams like our loss to Lafayette at home was a game that killed us. Only Rutgers board people think that is a terrible loss. We lost by 1 in the last 7 seconds. It hurts the W/ L record. You would think Pike could have coached a little better down the stretch, allowing Martini to get switched onto Lee 3 straight times.
Rutgers was incredibly inefficient against a mediocre team

Post Mortem by Lion - Delayed, RU vs MSU

His athleticism could have stayed with MSU players better than Martini. Guarantee he is not going 0-4 on wide open threes in the second half. You cannot look at a final Boxscore and ignore key points and key subs at key parts of the game. That seems to me what you are doing analyzing Grant.
Martini only played 10 minutes, it's not like he was out there half of the game. Grant wasn't very good for much of his appearance and played 60% of the game. I do agree when we choose to sit guys can be very odd. Thought it used to be Knight that ran the subs, don't know if still true.

They are net killers

THE OFFICIAL 2024-2025 NET RANKINGS THREAD

It is not a loss that hurts considerably except in the all important W/ L record. If we did not lose to Kennesaw we are likely 20 points higher in the NET. Losing to Princeton in the last second on a neutral floor is not moving our Net more than 5 spots. Kennesaw is dragging us down , along with terrible defensive efficiency numbers. We have to break thru in Quad 1 games to make a jump into the 60’s
Wins and losses don't really mean anything to your net ranking. How efficient were we offensively and defensively versus that caliber of team? Princeton is 130th, with five Q3 losses. Kennesaw isn't far behind them at 157th, also with 5 Q3 losses. Kennesaw was on the road while Princeton was neutral, which also matters.

Squeaking out of victory over 195 Seton Hall was probably worse for our NET than losing to Princeton. Only beating 251 St Peter's by 10 at home also wasn't especially great for our ranking,

Poor NIL is the biggest reason for our disappointing season

Rutgers has 23 major league sports teams within 250 miles of campus, 28 including MLS. Florida State has zero.

Lots of competition for the sports fan dollars around here.

Moreover, Rutgers donors prefer to give to academics. That is why Rutgers endowment value is more than 2x that of Florida State.

Holloway talked up the number of Rutgers donors in recent message. "We reached and surpassed a $250 million fundraising goal because of a surge in new givers: more than 7,500 of our 34,000 donors in fiscal year 2024 were first-time donors."

For example, I used to give to the gymnastics team. Now, I give to an academic scholarship. Do you blame me?
