Bryce Dortch...please burn the Redshirt....!!

I am looking at wing defense and an occasional rebound and put backs and a couple of players who can drive and score in the paint. If Dortch can't play at this level, someone else next year will outplay him. For now, if it's Martini or bust to get stops and rebounds on defense, then we know how that's going to end.
Over the last three games, pretty much every line up that included Martini has outperformed the opposition in their time on the court. I think Martini is fine in a 12-15 minute role back up for Grant.

Dortch will be able to play at this level, it just may not be as a freshman. I do believe you don't throw a kid who isn't ready out there to kill his confidence.

That’s questionable since Pike wasted Grant for half a year. Pike also thinks JMike, Martini, Dercack, and Jwill are ready to play and play big minutes.,,(How do they look?)

So will pause on if Pike thought he was ready.

Pike plays favorites and puts kids in the doghouse and it’s cost us one NCAA tournament bid already.
Grant was coming off a senior year in which he didn't play. You honestly think Pike was sitting him, just to sit him? He tried giving him a little run earlier, and Grant responded by putting up shots at a rate Dylan and Ace do, and didn't do much else in his limited time. Maybe he had to go back to the bench to learn/understand what role he was needed to fill.

GAME 19 PENN STATE: Shattered Dreams

go watch the St. John's scrimmage and see what happens when tired players try to finish a game.

Harper and Bailey aren't Ace Baldwin.

Also PSU was on a 4 game losing streak coming in to the game. They blew a lead down the stretch to Oregon. Sometimes playing a guy 40 minutes causes you to lose games, both current and in the future
Greene

We’re 10-9 practicing minutes restrictions and playing 10 man rotations

What are we holding them back for? What “late game” situations are even going to be relevant when we’re 14-14 and clearly cooked?

It’s now or never… it’s been now or never for 2 weeks and unless they are actively injured or in foul trouble they have to play 35mpg

For his own reputation and future as a coach Pike has to go down with the ship he sailed with and might as well go down swinging with his 2 stars until they can’t

All true and good points. But it’s not just Ace Baldwin. Personally, I’ll take a somewhat tired 80% Ace or Harper over most of our others any day, especially when the combination of subs seem to be so random and thoughtless.

Bryce Dortch...please burn the Redshirt....!!

Why don’t we just stop treating the rotation like a rec basketball league and cut it to an 8 man rotation like most self respecting P4 schools do

Start the 4 freshmen and give EO and Williams some minutes

Acuff, martini and dercack can fight for the rest based on matchup … no more JD

I’m tired of seeing 10 guys play just for the sake of inclusion at the expense of cohesion and the inevitable 10-0 run by the other team because you’re at some point going to have 5 bad players on the court at once because you’re promised them minutes

How much is your college football team worth?

Just read an article in the Wall Street journal by a finance professor who analyzes what each program would be worth if it could be bought and sold like a professional franchise. Ohio State tops the list at $1.96 billion, Rutgers comes in at 59th valued at $190 million. Don't know who this guy is or how accurate his findings are, but his analysis does help lay aside any thoughts that money isn't the true driver in what is occurring across the college football landscape. If anyone had doubts. It might seems ridiculous to ponder the sale value of a college football team, but as the author points out, private equity is already looking to get involved with college football. Who knows where this is really going. In that context, I just wish we were worth a little more. 🙂

Holloway

One source, who is pretty damn tuned in to college BB, thinks that SHU had the 3rd smallest NIL budget of all Power 6 schools last year. Holloway therefore had to gamble to try to build a competitive team by going after recruits who were highly ranked in high school (eg. Harmon, Duall, Middleton, Yeldon), but underperformed in college. His gamble failed miserably. He also made the mistake of trying to build a roster of 7 to 10 deep which also didn't pan out since several of the players are just not good enough to see any regular playing time. Holloway put this Team together so he must accept the blame for this year's disaster. Unless major donors step up for SHU, its Mens BB program is destined to remain bottom tiered.

GAME 19 PENN STATE: Shattered Dreams

This “Bailey needs rest” is nonsense, unless he is specifically asking for it. Of course, I understand sitting due to foul trouble and injuries. Baldwin played 40 minutes against us as do many of the stars in this league. It’s not like we play intense defense or anything like in years past. If we are serious about this season, which is probably too late now anyway, Bailey and Harper need to play every minute that they are not sick, injured or in foul trouble. Their replacements are simply just not good enough and some of the combinations are disastrous. They can rest in the weeks before the draft.

Handling Business in the Classroom - GPA 3.259

Does it really matter?
No reflection on the players glad for them
But it’s a joke to have team GPA’s at this point, who cares!
Win Games, get to the tournament in this day and age the rest is just BS
Good for them. Apparently, our players are more intelligent and mature than at many other schools, but as far as winning on the court, it doesn’t matter anymore. All schools are just sponsoring professional teams at this point.

To Win

Ace and Dylan can bring their C+ games and we will win if we can defend. The way we have been defending this year it requires an elite Top 10 offensive performance on offense most nights to win against these top teams.

There has to be a commitment to get stops. we have to get more 0s on defensive possessions....too many 2s and 3s.

To Win

Entering the home stretch:

1) Both Ace and Dylan play at A- or higher level;
2) DG continues to make multiple contributions;
3) Ideally, good play from both EO and LS--but MUST have at least one;
4) JMike and JWill play mostly error free and have nice stat line, including timely hoops;
5) Plus versions of Martini, Acuff, and Dercack.

Getting several of these in a game is quite doable; getting all of them is the trick.

With all five, we are very tough.

On offense the key has been movement with and without the ball, quick passing and no mindless dribbling around the 3 point line. Our wins featured this.
