He'd have helped defensively, but he's still struggling badly against Q1/Q2 programsi would take simpson back 100000000x over
Somerville certainly doesn't play up to his size. Can't overpower even smaller players, doesn't have a good dunking ability and shoots poorly from outside. This was a pathetic showing. We have a legit shot to finish in the bottom three and miss the conference tourney, especially with the lack of size and how this team has issues with playing hard for all 40 minutes of a game.
LOL sure maybe Derkack's breakout game goes for 20 in that hypothetical. Does a healthy Harper still not get 18, 19 and open up Ace for a few more baskets? Harper is also better on D than any of R guards.Fair but when Dylan puts up 20 Derkack doesn’t put up all the points he does. And while it does create more room only maybe Ace capitalizes. Maybe not as MSU has done a good job on him. And the others you speak of. Doubt they could execute.
Pike is responsible for both the roster and the game day coaching. This team was doomed before the first game based on roster construction, poor player evaluation, and failure to address our obvious interior needs. Our injuries have been nothing remarkable. It's just not a very good team.i mean i really think of all the games to criticize pike this was not it
youre down your one true big and your best guard for the 2nd half and you lose by 7
hes had 9 other losses this year that were honestly more egregious than this one
I know it's the Garden and you want him to get some burn in front of every NBA scout in the world...but his 7 or 8 minutes just set him back a week. That was a bad sprain zero business on court.Sit Dylan till he’s 110 percent
Stop, this team does not execute winning basketball. They could easily have beaten Kennesaw, easily beaten Bama, easily beaten Princeton, easily beaten A&M, easily beaten PSU on the road…..but they didn’t……good teams win, bad teams find ways to lose. These guys find ways to lose, they are 6-10 in their last 16 games. They are not a good team.100% agree – – they could easily be 6–3 instead of 3–6 in the conference right now.
i would take simpson back 100000000x overSimpson 2.0
Serious question. Did you watch the last game?
Martini has lost all confidenceAnd every one a clean look at an important juncture. If he makes two of those, it’s a very different game down the stretch. He was recruited to make those shots, and he has done so in the past, but some are still blaming Pike.
He'd benefit from NBA coaching more. He won't get any better here.Ace getting bodied off the ball and defended will not go unnoticed by other coaches. I still think he would benefit from another year in college.
he averages 21 minutes per game thats rotational minutes for a player who is a rotational piece on most average to above average teamsGood half or not against Michigan State - he's an end of the bench guy on this level who should not get anywhere close to the minutes he gets. That he has so many opportunities tells you how poor this team really is.
Because you dont have 2 draft picks out there taking 75-80% of shots and everyone else out there expected to just stay out of the way & not being able to play their game. His jumper is looking nice and smooth today
But he made the tournament two of those years, so he’s a god. The bar is low here. He’s always compared to our prior loser coaches instead of the rest of college basketball. He's now 12 games under .500 in nine years coaching a team that should easily win 7 out of their first 10 games every year.
Serious question. Did you watch the last game?Once again - a shot that makes you go “wow”…but what else??? Not too much I can think of
And every one a clean look at an important juncture. If he makes two of those, it’s a very different game down the stretch. He was recruited to make those shots, and he has done so in the past, but some are still blaming Pike.Shout out to Martini going 0-5 from 3 executing dry January
Anyone who has a game like this deserves more minutes the next game to see if they can keep it goingThink about it, with Dylan out, Pike was forced to give minutes to Jordan. Instead of putting JD in for 4 minutes and then substituting, i prior games JD was never able to get into the flow. MSU is no slouch and JD played tough, he deserves extended minutes to see if he can replicate this performance.
I understand, but this is what we’ve createdIt's not that it's not a successful way to run a program (it clearly is), but to say that is how you "should" run a program is ignoring the fact that the vast majority of programs "can't" run that way because they don't have the $$$.
It's like telling someone who's struggling to pay their rent/utilities/etc that what they 'should' do is just have more money. Or like telling someone who's struggling to find a date that they just "should" be taller and more attractive.... easier said than done. I'm sure every program would love to snap their fingers and have their coffers as full as SJU.
