If the Mets are probably bidding against themselves, there’s no one else to win.I understand your point and I agree with it as well.
However if Alonso does indeed leave - what is the alternative plan?
Are you comfortable with Vientos at 1b - a position he has never played - and Baty and / or Mauricio at 3b ?
I’m not !
Hence why I want this contract with Alonso to get done.
3/80 seems fair given given reported Mets offer of 3/68 and current market values for 1b
Problem is Mets are probably bidding against themselves and Boras shooting for deal with an AAV of $30 m.
An inflated 1 year deal is what it may end up at via these stalled deals with Boras clients !
Was Alonso’s biggest mistake was hiring Scott boras? The 'highly assymetric against us" comment is interesting. I assume this has to do with Boras demanding one or more opt outs. Cohen probably responded with OK then we need the option to extend. Boras said no, and Cohen said FU.
I try to bring attention to our poor record in OT. Prove me wrong.TOO BAD! RUTGER WINS, LOSER!!
I give him credit for the match. His was the widest ranking gap between opponents.Big shout out to Harer. Kid wrestled great today, got to his offense and was a beast on top. He has a bright future at RU!
🤬🤬🤬🤬 Joe Beningo and WFAN
Read the OP. The thread is saying the team stinks. I disagree and showing examples. No one was giving out trophies for moral victories just saying we are not a bad team nor for that matter a good team either because a good team would have pulled out victories in those games. But we don’t stink. You hopefully understand the point more clearly.Who cares what score we lost by to Bama, A&M, and Michigan State. We also lost by 1 to Princeton and 2 to Kennesaw. There is no such thing as a good loss, losses are losses. I love the way you say “switch those three” like it’s just as easy as flipping a light switch. Those wins are not easy to get and not as simple as just saying “switch those three”. If we were good enough to win those games we would have won those games. We can give the team participation trophies at the end of the year for all their hard work and effort for their close losses towards their 16-15 eventual record.
Yes the Ewin thing drives me crazy, we spent what he asked for additionally on some other portal get that isn’t P5 caliber. If we’re low middle that means there’s many other low middle and high lower making much better choices on what players they spend their money in. It’s the lack of an eye for talent and roster construction.lack of NIL is a convenient excuse. mods have told us we’re lower-middle of the pack for power conferences from an NIL perspective. we were also told that the money was there for malique ewin and pike wouldn’t do it out of principle. having less to spend is not as big of an issue as how we’ve spent what we do have
Also, Al, what competent portal guy is coming after this cluster**** of a year? After every loss it’s the same BS. Pike this, Pike that, when accountability needs to start by looking in the mirror. We are the biggest reason Pikes roster is inadequate because we haven’t done enough to support a Championship Caliber program.
Poor NIL is the 800 lb gorilla that no one wants to acknowledge, because then we would need to take accountability. We’re either ponying up or not ponying up. By looking at our roster, we can reasonably conclude that not enough was done.
If we had Cliff and a few more quality kids, we’d be looking forward to dancing. But we didn’t have the support, so we recruited whomever we could.
Now I understand why Danny Hurley took the UConn job and turned down the Rutgers job. Because unlike at UConn, he would never get the support to win big at Rutgers. Two National Championships later, and he no doubt made the right decision.
Now it’s on us to provide the support so Rutgers can realize its greatest potential. It should have happened this year, because by some act of God, we wound up with two lottery picks. Thank you to whomever it was that provided that support.
The rest of us didn’t do enough, and sadly I fall into that group because already I do what I can for football. Going forward, this will change.
We need 1,000 people donating $2,000 for Basketball NIL. I’ve got to believe that we have 1,000 fans capable of doing so, especially after seeing yesterday’s game at MSG. This provides us with a $2M warchest, which can be used to get quality recruits. Recruiting lower division kids, and hoping their ability will scale to this level, simply is not a path to success. Football also has to choose this path, due to lack of NIL resources, so they have no other choice. Our experience shows, that not all transfers like this will be able to contribute. So we have to improve our odds of recruiting contributors by increasing our financial support.
If you’re a teacher, retiree, or someone struggling to get by, you are obviously not expected to give. Those of us who are well off, need to absorb this burden.
This does not absolve Pikes recruiting and development. But at the same time, I feel we haven’t provided Pike with the support to be successful and think he will be successful with the right support.
So it’s time to pony up, or live with the mediocre consequences. Transfer recruiting will probably kick into high gear in April. We need to give Pike the support he needs to land quality transfers, to turn this thing around.
Go RU!
