OT: Stock and Investment Talk

Never owned gold; I invest instruments and companies that cash flow (except for my fun gamble on a bitcoin ETF that I purchased last January.l). I’m not a bear, but I don’t generally hold on to stocks where the valuation looks excessive, and buy when everyone else is selling (example, sold NVDA last week at $146 and bought yesterday at $123; and GEV at $322 this morning).
Good to see you are having fun with BTC. GEV's fwd PE is still about 100. Excessive? :)
I stepped out of GEV yesterday for now, made a lot, happy to jump back in sometime soon. Maybe calls? Great company, but definitely a narrative stock right now. Still own a few other power infrastructure plays since our needs will only increase in the future.

It’s the little guy, not the whales, right

GS has realized this. Focus on the whales, dont waste time with the small money. As someone who has raised close to 9-figures from investors over the past 8 years, my time is spent exclusively talking to accredited investors. Will I ignore a non-accredited investor? No. But the point of that convo would be to find out who the accredited investors they know are.

1 Whale = 1,000 little guys.

1 Whale doesnt have a lot of time to talk, they want to get to the point. Much more effective use of time.

1,000 little guys want attention and to feel special.

The whales are what wins and loses nil
Ironically, this was one of the biggest complaints about Pat Hobbs and now suddenly it's being argued that he was illogical or wrong for doing so.

The mentions above about it being both is correct, the problems occur when you don't have access or contact with enough fundraisers that are actually employed or graduated from the school. I'm not saying everyone has to be a RU graduate, but to capture donations from all demographics of donor levels, there has to be people that can cover all the bases of potential income sources.

That is really a cultural issue in the tristate area, because most schools in our region are not as successful in sports right now. Donations come when football plays good crisp football and looks like it has an idea on how to improve and win. They get 80% of the revenue share, they have to own 80% of the problems with poor play for the better part of the last decade.

If Schiano can break through on a consistent basis, donations, season tickets and other opportunities will start to flow. Normal logic would indicate that people want to be associated with winning and success that donors can be proud of and right now, we're closer but not where we should be.

Quick bear question, have you ever bought/traded gold futures? I assume you have gold up the wahzoo. We have a bunch of new cash and considering GLD or GLD futures as an alternative to the 4% money market rate. Lots of bullish forecasts on gold.

And yes, markets can go up or down, which is totally okay and healthy. :)

THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-NORTHWESTERN PREDICTION THREAD

NW started at 1-1 in B1G games, same as us. Since then both teams have gone 2-7 in the B1G.

I haven’t looked into their injury situation, but I gotta believe our 3-6 record was more impacted by injuries than their 3-6 record.

If Dylan can play 25 minutes, and he’s at 80% or better, I think we can pull off the upset.

Rutgers wins, 74-73
If you watch the beginning of the second half of the MSU game, ain’t no way Dylan is playing tomorrow or maybe for a good while.

I know most won’t agree, and won’t happen, BUT..here me out.

I think MOST people don’t think Ace nor Dylan pass the NBA eye test right now. I’ve seen numerous players NOW that are better. Don’t get me wrong, they have flashed and are great talents…

Flagg is clearly the best (especially watching tonight) and has an NBA BODY and game. He can start on any NBA team. Ace is too young, thin, and inconsistent. Dylan is loosing stock and is not the same player from the beginning of the season because of sickness and injury. That said..

They BOTH should say “run it back”, and gain valuable experience and be clearly 1 and 1A, NEXT SEASON, earning soo much more money. Players better than them have stayed at least 2 years and gone on to greatness.

Spare me the “might get hurt” theory, MANY players played a lot more in college BITD with no to little injury.

SHOW THE WORLD THIS YEAR WAS A FLUKE. With BETTER RECRUITS coming, we could be great next year… and deep.

Prove it… Run it back, guys.
Dylan absolutely 100% passes the NBA eye test when healthy. Ace did not at the beginning of the season but is starting to now, and his rapid pace of improvement demonstrates what the scouts see in him and why he will be a top pick.

Unless we are finding them $5mm+ each in NIL or something it would be a bad, bad decision by either of them to stay.

Izzo Pullover

Demand isnt there or fans are forced to buy cheap products? Why are all Rutgers t shirts oversized and poor heavy Guilden type quality. Rutgers seemingly has a hundred different varieties of zip ups but none Im interested in. People are still wearing Apex Rutgers jackets from 25 years ago and Colosseum jackets from 15 years ago because there has literally been no new Rutgers jacket on the market. Why is Rutgers vintage and retro gear so limited and can only be found at niche website. Why cant you find a soft Rutgers t shirt.

On another note i still have a Rutgers Sweatshirt I bought on first floor in Allen Hall on Busch in 1989..excellent heavy quality. Now all the sweatshirts are thin and cost $80
Not to pile on but even the officially licensed stuff off Fanatics or Dicks is a crap shoot whether it'll be oddly shaped, true to size, shrink in the wash, cheap quality. Some of it is great, but a bunch of it is sub-par.

The tees in the CAC bookstore still have the 90s style tall block lettering. I thought maybe i'm just not looking in the right places.
People will pay for good quality stuff to represent RU proudly, not just throw on a scratchy t-shirt to wash the car.

I feel like it's easier to find weird novelty stuff than high quality, good looking gear. I don't need an all over print RU bucket hat or snuggie more than a good t-shirt.

I get served 50 ads a day for high-quality tees, half zips and pullovers for men and these are actually great products. Slap a block R on it and I'd gladly pay a premium price because I know it's good.

Markets don’t go straight up. We’ve had a huge two year run, and corrections, many that have been much much greater than this, happen all the time. The stocks that dropped the most, were generally stocks that experienced ridiculous gains over the last few months (or longer).
