We’re not done yet

Okay, I’ll bite. What’s the downside in going to the locker room and telling the team not to give up?
I'm not saying you shouldn't encourage them to play on, the coaching staff has to be realistic and address weaknesses, hold them accountable. Just staying positive without addressing weaknesses will solve anything. I'm not sure any of this is going on with the coaching staff, based on Pike's pressers, especially the last one.

It’s the little guy, not the whales, right

That one $10 million donor is equal to 100,000 donors giving $100 each. While cultivating the little guys is important and part of the overall strategy, without the big guns, we can't keep up with our blue blood competitors. The little guys can fill up the seats, the big guy fill up the bank account!
The little guys attract the big guys. That's what's missing from your post.

I’m sure you do, being on the univ fundraising board, but sometimes if something isn’t working you have to shake it up. Are you going on your experience of how Rutgers grows small donors into slightly larger donors or are you looking at how other schools instantly land boatloads of cash? Because I think we need to be like them. I’m not saying small donors aren’t important. They certainly are. I’m just saying we need a game changer and need to look at all ways to get that done. Respectfully sport specific fundraising can be different than general univ fundraising. Sports really tug on emotions. Isn’t a whales help, along with fanatics money, how we finally got Ace and Dylan?
Involved in academic fundraising here and the question doesn't fully integrate skoolie's answer. The big donors are attracted in part by the presence of lots of small donors. Their absence raises a yellow flag.

College Coaches Call to Action to Save Wrestling

Look, I am fine with how the staff is marketing the program. My beef is with the very bad home dual schedule. This season we have only 6 home duals (4 mandated by the B1G) with 13 road/neutral duals. 2 seasons ago only 4 home duals. After that debacle season ticket holders were given a rebate for the next season. If we all agree that duals are the way to save Div 1 NCAA wrestling why are we giving a pass to Goodie on his scheduling? Fans in NJ are starved for duals at the RAC.

I would like a couple more home duals. I have season tickets for basketball too though and when these games/matches get all bunched up it gets crazy. This weekend I was at the RAC Friday, MSG Saturday and back to the RAC Sunday.

I know most won’t agree, and won’t happen, BUT..here me out.

Iverson is a comp I never thought I'd see
Iverson was much quicker and obviously smaller. I know this is college, but I can't think of anyone that can finish at the rim like Dylan.

My pro questions for Dylan.....
1. Will his low release be an issue getting shots off
2. Can he finish at the rim against NBA length
3. Is he, right now, a point guard?

I think the answers are all positive for Dylan, but am not sure. If I were building a team I might be inclined to take Ace over Dylan because I think he is a safer pick.

Takes the same amount of thought and energy to be an optimist or a pessimist.

I love Rutgers, I love college basketball, I love our players. They’re like my sons. When my sons were struggling in some way, I did not give up on them, and I never will. Same with our team.

If you were invited into the locker room before the next game, would you tell the team, “Oh brother, you guys suck, just give up already.” Or would you find something they can latch onto, to give them hope and ignite a spark in them?

I choose their latter.
It's one thing to tell the team that in the locker room. It's another to post this on the forum like you actually believe it even though it is .00001 possible.

But it's your perogotive to come across as you see fit. Hope you get the last laugh.
There's never a reason to give up.. I hope we at least get to see this team play some good bball.

I would have a better understanding of that than you. Big money people are not coming if they don't feel everyone is all in and yes SOME big money people started decades ago giving small amounts and gradually increased as their earnings increased.
