50 year fan. 1st game at barn as a kid in ‘74/5 and now…

I said I will always have love for the team, but not to the degree I once was . New paradigm these days. Too transitory
It doesn't necessarily have to be that way.

Try it this way - Get 5 3.0 - 3.5 star freshman every year and achieve buy in on the Pike system. You'll always have attrition (1 per class per year ?) but perhaps this approach would yield a better, more cohesive (defense first !) team that the fans can get behind

"Are More New Jersey Colleges Doomed to Collapse?"

As I mentioned on TKR before, I did a junior year study program at University College London. Everything done more efficiently there with zero impact on academic quality.

Lower costs are partly due to student expectations for non-academic life.- dorms, food, sports, classrooms - being a lot lower. I attended UCL in late 90s (1990s, not 1890s) and students didn't have phones or televisions in their rooms. Everybody shared a handful of pay phones and a single television in a recreation room. Food was potatoes every day and only one serving, no all-you-can-eat. The current UCL athletic director earns USD 40,000 yet 70 sports are offered. Classrooms were 55 to 60 degrees in winter. People wore coats in class. Nobody complained. UCL academics are world class.

More recently, I did some work in student housing at US universities, mostly at Sunbelt state universities. You don't see students living like this at European universities.
Potatoe's every day and 55 degrees isn't happening for most Americans

March 2022 Crystal Ball

Wow, haven't we learned that in the Big 10 you must be 8 to 10 deep? Can you honestly say we're that deep??

This year Pike moved away from this principals of defense first and its shown. Drive to be basket against Rutgers, no one steps in and stops the drive.

I'm very positive about next season as the core lead by JMike and Grant, we can do alot of great things! Sure a transfer or 2 could help but I see a renewed focus after this run!
Not sure we’ll keep Grant

ESPN National Team of the Week three years ago

I think the biggest difference from then compared to the past few years is leadership. Geo and Ron had their hot and cold streaks like anyone, but I always had the sense that they at least had the proper attitude.

After them, it gradually got worse. Caleb was good. Paul was alright, but at times erratic. Cliff was fine, but I got the sense he was soft spoken. He was also center obviously and we need leadership at guard. Now we have Zach, which I have no criticism necessarily, but he’s a one year transfer and JWill who is inconsistent (to put it VERY mildly).

We need someone like JMike to be the true leader of this team. He just needs to be given the chance.

Pike in the Film Room

One of my major complaints about Pike not running an offense. He runs a Horns set and when that does not work just wing it.
Hate horns as a primary set. Situationally I get it especially with Dylan. Height and handling advantage but with our other primary ball handlers it’s a risk that far outweighs the reward. All the 2 high screeners do is bring 2 extra defenders to the ball in a confined space it’s a double team nightmare.

"Are More New Jersey Colleges Doomed to Collapse?"

I was recently reading how more Americans are going overseas.
Awhile ago I realized if I was going to do college today and could go anywhere it would be to Edinburgh.
Great city (#2 more popular in UK after London) and student experience in UK is less sociopathic.

The article I read had a Rutgers mention:

"Cristi Viera, a 49-year-old former professor from North Carolina is weighing overseas education for her children. Her 20-year-old daughter, Victoria, is studying communications at Rutgers, helped by a scholarship. But she’s thinking about getting her master’s degree in Spain, where her family relocated to in September. She’s also considering the Netherlands, Ireland and Germany.

Viera’s 16-year-old daughter, Mia, wants to study medicine at an international college in Italy. Programs typically cost about $3,100, compared to $60,000 in the US, and she’ll be able to practice medicine back home afterwards.

“Considering how the cost of living has increased exponentially in the United States and how much tuition has increased over the past few decades, the finances really play an important part in that decision making,” Viera said.

The ballooning price of tuition at elite schools in America is pushing more families to eye cheaper options at universities overseas.
