Yes, all true. I have partial tickets and they themselves are pretty expensive. But a portion of the ticket price goes towards paying for players salaries.

College is the same thing, but college tickets are much cheaper, if you compare with what the pros charge, even if you kick in 1000 for players salaries via the collective. And yes, you don’t know what you’re paying for, but you trust the coach will make the right Decisions. It is pay for play. But that’s how the game is played these days. We have to play the game the way things are, and not how we want them to be.
We just disagree on your last sentence. We DON"T have to play the game the way things are. It's not that important to me. I'll never directly pay kids to play college sports. I was 100% for real NIL. I'm 100% against pay for play in college personally, but I'd never tell someone else what to do with their $.

If RU has enough fans that it is important to, then it will be OK. My assumption is it will be like it's always been, a bottom 1/3rd, mediocre athletic department overall.

It might not be a bad idea for optics.

You know and I know the amount that NJ indirectly spend on athletics is a ridiculous small amount of the total NJ budget. That doesn't mean when it comes down to picking a governor in November lowering taxes and cutting spending is going to be THE ISSUE. Having the highest paid state employee flying around in helicopters isn't the best look.
He has to be efficient with his time, and he has to spend more effort recruiting because we lack amenities that other schools offer, like a top notch Football Fieldhouse.

Thankfully, Rutgers probably won’t raise much interest as a campaign issue, because there are bigger issues.

More of a reason for this season

It's clearly B.

If it's 100% just the players, then what players are we supposed to bring in that would thrive in our offense of standing around while 1 guy dribbles the ball?

Who are all these talented players that are going thrive standing in the corner?
I'm not sure what I think about this. We brought in players that should, theoretically thrive just standing in the corner on offense. Martini. Hayes. They don't do anything else offensively. Talent level isn't in question, it's not extremely high. We all knew we were bringing in two ball dominant guys. We surrounded them with mostly one dimensional players.

Al youve made some incredible stupid points in this thread

1) with revenue share next starting in july, where the fvck do you think the revenue is generates from? The fans.

2) we had one of the most expensive rosters in the big ten this year. Money wasnt the issue, coaching was.

Sorry. But you’re the one who is misinformed. Livvy Dunne and others have filed objections to the NCAA settlement. In all, there are 12 objections.

So Revenue sharing is up in the air, and may not be implemented for next year. The judge will decide whether to accept the settlement as is, revise it, or push for a trial. There is a hearing scheduled for April 7th.

Transfer Portal/Free agency starts March 23rd. That’s a little more than a month.

NIL is the only tool to attract transfers, for now.

Now as far as coaching being the problem, the reason coaching is the problem is because the transfers aren’t contributing much, if anything. In sharp contrast to Marylands transfers, who are contributing a lot. If that doesn’t illuminate the discrepancy for you, then nothing will.

Pike: “100 percent on me” for Iowa loss- two thoughts

Could not agree with you more about the rotations. I have no idea who is playing, how many minutes they will get, etc.. from game to game with this team. Many role players have had uneven to bad performances, but so has Pike. Acuff has 2 good games, then his playing time is reduced, then last night, “SURPRISE”, he jumps out of the closet and gets to play and starts draining threes again. JMike starts turning a corner in the month of February and playing solid ball but to your point, he only gets 11 minutes last night?!?!?! And he produces 10 points in his meager 11 minutes. Hayes is the 6th man, first guy off the bench?!?! The dude had been on a milk carton for the past month and now he’s a key piece to beat Iowa?!?!

I am not saying the role players have been consistently good this year, BUT when one of them shows up and performs for a game or two or maybe more, they don’t get rewarded with possibly a starting spot or at a minimum more minutes off the bench. I have no idea, and I think Pike has no idea (much scarier considering this is his job) who he will give minutes to next game and we are entering Game 26 of a 31 game season. That’s a pretty scary job of coaching. It’s like Pike spins a wheel, if it lands on Dortch, he yells for him to get in the game, spin again, Derkack get in the game. No rhyme or reason in too many games, some games he’s done better but he has been as uneven this year with his rotations as our role players have performed.
And Grant has his best game the previous game and he starts and like its scripted plays the first 3 minutes and then especially in the second half he is buried on the bench and we can't even grab a rebound

OT: Nations Face-Off 2025

Don’t mix Politics and Sports !

Russia should be in this tournament!

It would have added so much more excitement!
The top four countries by player representation were included. You could go farther to 5 or 6...but how much time off from the regular NHL do you really want to take? And how lopsided would the games be. You can already see the Finns are at a disadvantage, (and the Swedes would be too if it weren’t for the heroics of the world’s greatest skater Jester Bratt) I get that excluding the Russians this year has some bad timing to it given the somewhat unexpected resurgence of Ovechkin. But in all it’s a clever way to inject new life into all star week.

More of a reason for this season

2023-2024: 9th in the Big Ten with a different A
2023-2024: 12th in the Big Ten with a different A
2024-2025: currently 14 in the Big Ten with a different A

Seems B may have materialized a little earlier.

Unless A has been getting worse year over year.
In which case it's actually back to B being a problem (since B picks A).

The current team is better than last year’s team.

Other coaches do it in private jets paid for by alumni and fans. If it was up to us Schiano and Pike would be using a NJ Transit bus to go recruit and this fanbase wants the 4 and 5 stars LMFAO.

Our spending is competitive with what our peers are spending. Everyone was for joining the Big Ten. How could you think we could join the Big Ten and not spend competitively? It’s the cost of doing business. Are you going to tell Schiano that he can’t use the helicopter and should use Uber instead? Come on, Man!

We have a revenue problem, not a spending problem.

Your leaving out a key point that @Greene Rice FIG is bringing up.

The athletic department is the one spending other people's money.
They have zero interest in controlling their spending.
They already have a huge deficit and just basically 2x (3x?) the football staff salary in less than a year.
As you rightfully point out - increases have already occurred without the additonal "player revenue sharing" cost?

The coaching staffs are already part of "revenue sharing". Does the AD just absorb those costs or keep raising ticket prices?

So what makes you think the AD would just absorb player revenue sharing?
They will keep all their current spending and pass the cost onto the fans through increases.
Because they prey on fans through "well you went here for a couple years so have an obligation to pay extra and keep funding our reckless spending."

Of course Yankee tickets are expensive, better product, they are bought in to providing best team possible, and have a history of doing so. Gave mine up a few years back . It's also professional sports. You know what you are paying for. College has become a joke. Suddenly scholarships that most of society would have loved to have are considered worthless. Pay for play, no guarantee a kid stays. No thanks.
