Best 3 PT shooting team under Pike

i hear you...doesnt mean the 2 players work out. I have heard people saying we should have gotten Alloco. Now I don't watch Notre Dame other than the game against us.......but our concerns are defense? Is he a fit?

Andre Hyatt? did he move the needele forward.

What i got wrong was going in to the season i thought we had a bunch of new transfers were coming in I thought a few had to hit. WRONG. 2 good ones obviously means a significantly improved hit rate, but only 2 tickets.

Again, not disagreeing with you

I think he plays D. Princeton played D. Not being defensive minded isn’t really the issue with Martini. There simply isn’t a position where he can be effective at the high major level.
What is the priority for the transfer portal this year with Acuff,Hayes and Martini leaving along with Bailey and Harper? That is a loss of at least 45 points a game.

Kids like sophomores Geo, Ron, Caleb etc - solid defensive metrics, able to put the ball through the net at the high major level but probably not the most offensively efficient scores available. And, at all costs, a 5 who plays defense.

Dylan comparisons?

Earlier this year after the scrimmage against St John’s, Pitino said he reminded him of former Knick Walt “Clyde” Frazier. Frazier was my favorite BB player growing up and I can see the comparison. Both big guards who handle the ball great, can drive, score from outside and are excellent passers with great vision. Both are very smooth and at times seem to glide down the court.

Just so we know, who are we rooting AGAINST in the upcoming games remaining in B1G?

The math is pretty simple if you wish for results that insure RU makes the Big 10 tournament (see my thread on the various tie-breaking scenarios):

1) The worst case is RU having 13 Big 10 losses. So ... root for Northwestern, Washington and USC to have 13 losses, or more, and Penn St to have 14 losses. PSU and Washington each have 12 losses now, and NW 11. PSU has @Indiana, home vs Maryland, @ Wisconsin - so 2 losses seem very possible, maybe even likely. If Washington loses just 1 more game, RU would win that tiebreaker (they have 4 games left, @Wisconsin, Indiana, @USC and Oregon) - so at least 1 more loss would seem likely. NW has 4 more games and currently 11 losses (@Minny, Iowa, UCLA and @Maryland) ... 1 loss would seem very likely, 2 very possible - or more.

2) If you want RU to have a better seed, rather than MERELY worry about making the Big 10 tournament, then in addition to rooting for RU to win as many of the 3 left as possible, root against USC and Minnesota, in particular (including an RU win over Minny) ... and maybe Indiana and Ohio St (though those last 2 have a tiebreaker over RU in one on one ties) ... and for a long-shot, root against Nebraska (over whom RU owns the one on one tiebreaker).

No - he’s not. I was not suggesting what Green said in the OP. That wasn’t the point.

Rather, it was simply that we can’t afford to buy everything in the transfer portal. Al is wrong about a lot - but he’s likely correct about that. We have to prioritize and Pike chose to focus on improving perimeter shooting. That almost certainly came at the expense of funds that could’ve been used to recruit better rebounders / defenders in the portal.

Dylan is the G.O.A.T. At Rutgers

Though both Harper and Ace Bailey will be selected higher, James Bailey WAS selected 6th in the NBA draft ... and was considered the best Center in the country for 2 seasons, and though not a consensus, was a 1st Team All American, twice, maybe.

Phil Sellers was a 1st Team All American (again, not consensus, but in several surveys). His size and skills were not translatable to the NBA, but his college greatness was ... ridiculously high.

Harper is fantastic ... hut Phil Sellers was a ridiculously great college payer starting from the very 1st game he played as a freshman. James Bailey was not a star until the 2nd half of his Sophomore season - and then was the best Center in the country for the next 2 1/2 seasons. Lloyd played in an era where Freshman were not allowed to play on varsity - but was a ridiculous SCORER for 3 years.

I rank these RU players who came before Harper and Ace Bailey as:

1) Sellers
2) James Bailey
3) Bob Lloyd

I do not know how to slot Harper, or Ace Bailey, based on 1 season, a disappointing season, a season where they have either been inconsistent, injured, ill ... a season in which the team is currently just a .500 team. Sellers, James Bailey and Lloyd all took their teams to much better records, to post-season success (Lloyd to 3rd place in the NIT when the NIT meant something; Sellers to 1 or 2 NIT's, 2 NCAA's and a Final Four; Bailey to multiple post-seasons, including the NCAA).

I have seen both Sellers and James Bailey dominate as many individual games as has Harper this year. So ... I am not sure how to measure ... but frankly, hard to say Harper is RUTGERS' G.O.A.T.
