OT: Favorite Bingeable/ Weekly Show Right Now…

Watched Season 1 of Lioness, liked it. I think Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman did a nice job in their roles.

Watched 8 episodes of Landman as well. Also a good show. Billy Bob Thornton is suited for his role too. His lines and delivery are great for both hilarity and seriousness.

On a side note, Paramount+ app sucks. On the newer LG it’s not great for navigation, pausing, memory settings but it’s workable. On the older LG it’s horrible plus sound can come and go. Both are up to date with the OS and app.

Looking online it seems it’s an issue for many devices but I noticed the commonality was they were non iOS be it TV, firestick, Roku etc… Tried it on the Apple TV which I haven’t used in awhile and it’s better with that. Maybe their design team is good for only one OS at a time lol.
I think season 2 of Lioness is better that season 1. The highway shootout in the first episode of season 2 is a top 5 shootout scene of all time (Heat is #1).

I'm really enjoying Landman. Good mix of humor and real life struggles, topped off with 3 hot women.

Realistic Goal

It's highly likely we won't win 3 conference games in a row all season. Forget 5.
but rutgers fans are so delusional, an overtime win over the last place big 10 team whose best player fouled out before the end of regulation is some turn the corner moment for them..the same ones who had RU still alive at 10-10

they think a school that was 5-10 at one point in league play is going to reel off 5 in a row...its fascinating to watch them throughout the year get excited over little morsels while ignoring the train was already derailed when they lost to Princeton

THE OFFICIAL 2024-2025 NET RANKINGS THREAD

,the committee isnt go to parse through rosters to see who was hurt and make excuses for losses to bad teams

what is Rutgers excuse for losing to Iowa

kennesaw is a bad loss period....whether they are in 2 or 3...ditto for Princeton

Rutgers is bad loss for Nebraska...Penn State is a bad loss for Nebraska. Northwestern is a bad loss for Ohio State, the committee isnt fooled by wear teams are sorted in Quads

meanwhile you continue to be an excusemaker and pump up a below average Rutgers 13-14 school into something it isnt.

Everyone is complaining about the offense, but ….

Totally agreed . People understating what the loss of a rim protector for the last 8 years with Cliff and Myles and they were elite especially Myles. They covered up guards getting beat , which was not as often as our present guards.
Some is allowing our guys to switch but with the trouble we have had with pick and roll , the only way to fix it is to fight over screens and not make it so easy to be screened. JMike , Jeremiah , Jordan or Tyson have to fight over pick and roll screens or we have to do a heavy hedge with Lathan or our bigs. You cannot continue to do what we are doing.
I agree with all of this and what Sean said.

This said - if we choose an off season strategy designed around retaining Lathan Pike deserves what he gets because this problem will not go away. Lathan is not a rim protector and won’t be one next year. If he wants to return and share minutes with a rim protector, that’s great. We can’t pass on adding one though next year because we will fail to improve.

What is most discouraging about this team, and there are many possibilities

They’re not mutually exclusive as PSAL pointed out. NIL limited his pool of options and he chose the wrong ones from the pool.

This

Let's be realistic, we thought we were getting guys who could fill our glaring need for 3 pt shooters and they were not what was expected.

Actually - this is statistically Pike’s second best 3 point shooting team at Rutgers - we’re currently 33.3%. The best one finished at 33.6% in 2021-22 - so it’s still possible to surpass that and have this team finish as the best. Point being - it’s inaccurate to say we expected shooting to be better and that’s where we went wrong.

Taking a closer look - Tyson Acuff is shooting 39% from 3. Martini is shooting 36.4%. J Mike is over 34% which is better than would’ve been expected pre-season. Ace and Dylan have been solid from the perimeter. This is far from our biggest problem.

The real problem, actually, in simplest terms is that last season, our shooting became so historically rate limiting that it caused Pike to sell his soul to make sure it was corrected rather than trusting that the issue would correct itself with the addition of the two star. So he brought in Jordan as his only “program” player who fit the culture. Tough nosed kid who can’t shoot a lick but is a fearless penetrator and hustles on D despite being lost at times in the man schemes. Guess whose played the most minutes of the transfers? Pike got what he wanted per your point above out of the others. They are all shooting over 32% from long range which is a vast improvement over last year’s team average. None of them play Pike style D. So we have finesse defenders to complement a bunch of frosh playing for a coach whose style is to create offense from D. What did we expect?
