No. 11 Rutgers wrestling closed the regular season against Penn on Wednesday at Jersey Mike's Arena

If either Peterson or Shawver loses, I think Barbosa has to go if you're right about his RS eligibility. Shawver should have the tougher match of the two.
Trying to figure out now if he was unattached or not . Barbosa is listed in the probables which makes me think maybe he was unattached at Midlands. White will beat the Penn kid he's 6-10 on the year

Auto renewal of season tickets

Whales. And don’t give me the “whales want to see 200 more fans pony up $10 a month by skipping lunch for a day so we can have $24k for NIL”. All the other B1G team have whales. Is it our job to get the whales too? We’re already being asked to give more than we can. Blood from a stone. You guys beat a dead horse. You want money, find the money. It’s not going to come from the 30 something with a mortgage and kids to put through college who forks over a good chunk of money for game tickets and concessions. And maybe those people are out there. Now find 10,000 of them to make a tangible difference. That still only gives you $1.2mm.

Yes our ticket pricing and parking might be low. It’s called market pricing. Pro sports compete for too much of the NJ sports fans dollar. The pricing is what it is because we have to have “technical” sellouts and can’t fill a football stadium. Raise the pricing it will get worse.

Also those schools with whales win. What’s our ceiling now with NIL? The NIT. Say you found 20,000 of above donors. Is the ceiling one win in the ncaas over 9 years. Winning solved problems. At some point you have to overachieve and we’re doing the opposite. Can’t even inbound a dam basketball.

Pike had a good few years of recruit, retain and develop. The game has changed. Richies podcast yesterday said how Pitino doesn’t even visit hs homes anymore. Just hit the portal and negotiate. That’s not Pikes style. Recruiting donors isn’t either. He doesn’t need to make excuses you guys do it for him. Overachieve, get more money. Find the whales. You’re sure as not going to get the required money but beating is who give what we can budget over the head time and time again.
Exactly. What exactly has he done or accomplished with his 3.5 million salary that any other coach in the country couldn’t have done? Since he’s done almost nothing, designate $1 million of his salary to finding donors.

Auto renewal of season tickets

definitely considering giving it up after 30 years...knowing that the next 2 years figure to be as ugly as it was in the Hill years....not sure i can stomach that and without any vision from the athletic department...i have heard some sentiment from some other longtime season ticket holders

If die hards are fencing it then yeah this basketball program is in serious trouble
I'm not saying I'm giving it up. My kids both love going and so for that reason alone I'll probably renew.

I'm just saying, maybe I'll wait and buy season tickets later on in the summer when things are more clear. More the principle of it.

Sutley Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Tell you what, this young lady has got some game. I watched the Delaware match, and she seemed fearless and has an ability to catch and shoot in traffic -- a really important skill in the women's game since there are so many damn players in the offensive zone, and most of the goals seem to come within 7 or 8 yards.

Side note for MLax fans, the women's team really moves around in settled offense, lots of motion etc. Just sayin. :CHOP:

OT: Stock and Investment Talk

TOST reports after the bell today. Down today, still below it's high set before earnings last qtr. 7x price to revs. 20% growth.

CAVA down 7% today, not sure the why. Earnings next week.
SG has been getting annihilated. I was up like 55% a few months ago and now in the red. CMG, CAVA, etc. all getting beaten up. If this is tariff related that’s ridiculous.

RU vs Northwestern 2/17/25

Yes

She was but stopped attending the games.
The last game Smikle played for RU was on Dec.30 2023 against Northwestern and only played 5 minutes
As for McMiller, a talent on the court of course ,but might not be a loss in the locker-room.
The program might not need her or Coquese next year , because of Kiyomi's attitude and the way Washington seems to make talented players want to leave.

Roster For Next Season

If he gets a better offer, in a better situation, he’s not going to want to stay here. Serviceable Centers command $$$, which we don’t have. After this season, who would want a rerun, especially when the talent level might be worse next year. Not sure about your easily retained assertion, but hope you’re right.
The talent level "might" be worse?

HS recruiting still matters most

I know the portal is the hot new thing and Pike needs to be way better at it no doubt, but I still think this program will live or die with HS recruiting. I really think it’s as simple as hitting more Geo, RHJ, and Caleb’s rather than the Simpson, Griffiths, and Woolfolk’s of the world. If you think about it, Pike had an insanely high hit rate out of HS for those 2 or 3 classes. Geo, RHJ, Caleb, Myles, Paul, Cliff, Montez, Mag. All in a row and all impact players. Pair that with a couple great transfers like JY and Yeboah and that’s what leads to the super successful teams we had.

It’s the same approach Schiano is doing with Football now. Retain your good players and selectively add the right fits in the portal. That’s what Pike needs to get back to. We don’t have the money to play the portal the way Auburn hoops or Ohio State football does. Filling half our roster with transfers is never going to be successful. It’s been said by others, but the main reason this current team sucks(and last years) is because the HS recruiting from 21’-23’ was atrocious. You can’t whiff on recruiting for 3 years straight at a school like RU and expect to be good, even with Ace and Dylan. Hopefully Grant, Sommerville, and Dortch are the start of doing things this way again.
