OT: Rick Pitino in the locker room at halftime

Got to believe Pitino probably squeezes another few wins out of our roster.
More than a few. Off top of my head he gets us Kennesaw, Princeton, Iowa, Penn State

Probably finds a way to get us Indiana on the road and the Michigan game too

So anywhere from 4-6 wins minimum you’re looking at 16-18 wins and solidly in the field rn

And those are just the close losses we had

How many games has Ace and Dylan been the best player on the court?

Appears some are confusing FUTURE potential with current who was the best player on the court during RU games this season. They are two distinct issues.

For ex, the Princeton game, Ace and Dylan had the most FUTURE potential on the court But they were not the best player(s) on the court that day.

In the Alabama game, Dylan was the best player, and arguably as good as anyone in cbb at that level.

It has been much surprise I think to the RU faithful that Ace and Dylan have not been the best player on the court in a number of games. The expectations of the number of wins were related to the belief that they would be the best player night in and out. This is not blaming the two, as arguably the expectations that freshman would be the best every game is unrealistic in the B10. But it does explain the team results when the season appears predicated on the best on court status.

It's both honestly.

Short term: Rutgers, even with our limited resources (comparatively) should be able to compete more. Especially when our resources are more than nearly every other program.
How many programs are ahead of us? 40? 50 in total?

Long term: It's fairly obvious (and has been for decades) that the funding model of college athletics allowing fans to impact spending levels is a problem for Rutgers competing against the teams above us.

OSU or Bama can out spend their mistakes and minimize their down times.
Rutgers can't.

OSU or Bama will never have a NY Giants type downturn. They can spend (via their fans) for a new coaches, replace players and instantly snap back.
See Michigan Basketball.

Unless Rutgers is going to hit 100% on coaches and players, money will always be a problem.
Even 100% wouldn't fully overcome the money gap though.
And if even there were 40-50 programs only with a bigger budget … there are 10-20 more beneath us in lesser conferences that can overcome their lack of spending because they are in a league that will forgive shortcomings a little more

You can be the 40th biggest budget but if you’re 17th in the B10 you’re screwed

Example… this roster would be more successful in the Big East because the big east is less competitive

Which unknown D1 teams? The only non-power conference programs that are routinely competitive have significantly richer tradition and history than we do AND compete in a league with a little more forgiveness if you’re not ON consistently

Are you suggesting with a better coach and theoretically mid major level NIL that we would be better off long term? That’s not true for football or basketball and I think you know that

You’re probably just amongst the group that wants to complain but doesn’t want to contribute because you think it’s “wrong” to have $ involved in college sports
