Call your shot now. Will we be IN or OUT

On behalf of the coaching staff and Coach Pike, want to thank you for providing the bulletin board material needed

We have played 7 of our last 8 games as games decided in minute 40….and we have run the full circle on the type of team to get there

The number is TWENTY now …

9-11/16-15……requires wonning the big ten tourney and getting in at 20-15 and a 12 seed

10-10/17-14….marque names wants us in the tour y . We need to get to the big ten final ….20-15 lands us in Dayton . CBS and eyeballs matter and we will help with that …20-15 and see you in Dayton

11-9/18-13….this is the tricky one . Does 19-14 get you in . We have flipped a coin on that in recent years … 20-14….is in

12-8/19-12…..on the right side of the bubble. Need one to lock it at 20-13

Find 20 wins …..

We play lots of close games …and this feels like a year that we aren’t going to blow anyone out and we aren’t going to get blown out

I’ll go over the on the court basketball reasons for this soon….and number 2 will have a lot to say on this ….

But in 11 weeks , during the first half of the 19th hour of March 16th….Rutgers name will on the CBS screen

ABSOLUTELY ALL F#%%ING IN

OT: DEVASTATING WILDFIRE ….Santa Monica/Palisades fire being aided by 50-80mph Santa Ana winds. 100mph possible overnight

On a day like this, one fire in Ocean Grove could mean there is no more Ocean Grove.
Absolutely - maybe not the scale of LA, but certainly the scale of Lahaina. I don't think people understand how tinderbox dry fuel (houses and vegetation) conditions, very low humidity and hurricane force winds, plus an ignition source can lead to a fire going from tiny to a town-wide conflagration in a few hours. Lahaina and LA, unfortunately, will not be the last such tragedies. I've been involved in a few chemical fire simulations in my day, but those are like child's play compared to a wildfire with 80-100 mph wind gusts.

Reading the article below (a few excerpts from it in italics, below), made it really hit home for me how critical the nearly unprecedented sustained winds and wind gusts were to what happened in LA, despite CAL-FIRE's well-earned reputation of being the finest wildfire fighting force in the world. These winds not only prevented airborne water drops, but they also prevented the initial intelligence gathering and early "attack" aircraft from flying, meaning the whole operation was flying blind, so to speak, preventing the wildfires from being contained while small, which is much easier than battling a full-blown conflagration traveling at hundreds of yards per minute. As Wayne Coulson said (below), "when the wind is howling like that nothing's going to stop that fire."

I'm guessing the next frontier for CAL FIRE is going to be figuring out ways to fight wildfires without manned aircraft - maybe drone technology could do some of the job - or maybe figuring out safe ways to fly in the kind of winds we had for this fire.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/california-wildfires-technology-war.html

The scale of the destruction is all the more dismaying given how assiduously California has prepared itself to combat wildfires. The state’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, better known as CAL FIRE, spends $4 billion a year on prevention and mitigation. Over the last decade that money has allowed it to assemble an army-like force of unprecedented sophistication and scale, with a staff of 12,000 and an aerial firefighting fleet larger than most countries’ air forces.

Yet in the face of some of the worst fire conditions in over a decade, it hasn’t been enough. Though some 9,000 firefighters were on hand to battle this week’s blazes, they were overwhelmed by the multiple wildfires that moved at hundreds of yards per minute. “We don’t have enough fire personnel in L.A. County between all the departments to handle this,” L.A. County fire chief Anthony Marrone told the L.A. Times on Wednesday.

Even the most formidable human efforts are useless when bone-dry undergrowth is whipped by the strongest winds the area has experienced in years, with gusts up to 100 mph. “When that wind is howling like that, nothing’s going to stop that fire,” says Wayne Coulson, CEO of the aerial firefighting company Coulson Aviation that’s battling the fires. “You just need to get out of the way.”

Unfortunately, in extreme-weather events like the one currently gripping Southern California, conditions can be too severe for firefighting aircraft to take off. To get around this, aerial firefighting company Coulson Aviation has developed the ability to fight fires at night, when winds usually die down. But the winds currently buffeting the region have been so intense that they weren’t able to fly even then. “We were scheduled to fly all night, but the winds just didn’t subside,” company CEO Wayne Coulson told me Wednesday morning. “We’ll fly when the wind is under 50 knots. But it was blowing 50, 60 knots last night. It’s been violent.” (The crews were eventually able to get airborne later that day.)

Pike must go

Coaches are retiring these days with the shifts in NIL and the portal. It’s quickly feeling like Pike is part of this group — good coaches who are just not right for the new landscape. Steve needs a roaster of guys who can guard every position to play together for 3+ years. That’s his formula. This new world is going to make that incredibly difficult for him. I appreciate him getting these guys here, but his portal misses killed what should have been a great opportunity. Maybe he will step down.
The roster plays a small part of this. It has to do with guys never being in the right place on defense, but Pike has had success with this in the past. The offensive approach, however, is a horror show, and Knight, whether it be inbounding vs. the press, breaking the press, or running the offense, has shown to be a total incompetent.

OT: Billy Joel, Rod Stewart to perform one-night-only show at Yankee Stadium

Personally, can't watch a single reaction video. Love of music, like any art, is so personalized. It's cool to run into fans that are much younger of much older of music I enjoy, but don't care to see random people reacting on YouTube. Funny thing with the Beatles- grew up never liking or getting them at all. That was bad on me. In the last 5-10 years, I have grown to like Beatles music. I drive one of my good friends absolutely nuts when I discover a rare Beatles song and act like it is some new hit song.

I like to watch them. Some really know music but some others just do it for clicks. You will like her..she is one of my faves

Ranking Progress

Wrestlestat has its purpose, but its methods won't accurately represent newer wrestlers. Between Intermat and Flo, I don't know which has a better reputation for accuracy. I have picked Intermat for no particular reason. I do not have much experience in statistics, but I do not agree with the grand total view of our chances. Based on your analysis, I think one AA is hopeful. Peterson seems to have come on strong recently, but we're yet to see if he will keep up the aggressiveness against better opponents. Thanks again for your work.
Generally, I trust flo’s rankings more.. one AA? At the start of the season most on this forum were predicting between 3-5 lol…… then again, coming into the post season last year we were projected with 1(forgot what seed was Shawver) or 0. And came away with 2 so who knows…
Peterson could end up in the finals or the round of 16 again.. just depends which mentally strong Peterson shows up. I’m hoping the red hair taps into some alter ego but yeah we will see during the b10 slate.

Carino Lights Us Up

Tried to install D and toughness?

Absurd take.

WHat the problem has been is that Pike has thrown out the "D and toughness" identity and deferred to the 2 freshman and allowed AAU ball to be played at Rutgers. And AAU ball doesn't win against TEAMS. TEAMS are a whole different thing.

Caleb Ron and Geo were a team. THis squad is not a TEAM.

Pike has to look in the mirror and choose either:

-1.CONTINUE DEFERRING (and allow Bailey to shoot whenever he wants wqithout consequence, out of bounds open cuts and layups, Jwill to dribble in circles, Bailey to clearly be taking it (leading to 4 standing around)

OR

-2. STEP ON TOES and demand D and rebounding, ball movement and shots within the offense and not forced iso-NO MATTER who it is so the squad can turn into a TEAM. In essence, make this years version play like every OTHER version he has coached at RU.

Hope he chooses 2. We will see some POUTING if he does, but the players will either come around to being a TEAM member, or they will cause issues.

Ace and Dylan have shown the skill set (and the maturity of those skills and bball IQ levels) already. They dont need to showcase that further. They would have a choice on whether winning matters. As will everyone else.
Good points except Ace has shown zero basketball IQ.

Screw it, just build a new arena

So much wrong with this thread. Build a cavern arena and end up like Penn State, zero atmosphere and a long forgotten program. Even in our worst years over 30 NCAA misses at least we got some fun upsets thanks to the RAC. The team cannot generate 2 consecutive stops, that’s why the RAC was quiet. It’s the players, arena has nothing to do with it

Guess I'm officially old and crotchety af, but I do not understand for the life of me why those vids are such a big thing.

I've accidentally clicked 'em before when just looking to play a song, and I just scratch my head wondering why anyone would want to spend their time watching some rando listen to music.

Goes right in the over-the-top self-indulgence bucket along with all the other "I did some basic everyday thing ... here's what happened!" cool stories. Don't care, douche!

Ok, I'm good now.
