OT: New ACC Deal To Reward Clemson and FSU?

I would agree with this too.
As stated previously, the AAU angle, though definitely preferred (you can't be WVU or Louisville and try getting into the B1G), is not a deal breaker, especially if you're en route to admission

Also, UVA, though a fantastic school, isn't in the Top 3 (it's ND, UNC, and FSU, presumedly in that order)
Miami, though great history, also isn't ranked above FSU in terms of desirability

GOR has been reportedly shortened to 2031, so, if all things being reported are accurate, I'd assume they'd be looking to make noise / leave around ~2028/2029

OT: New ACC Deal To Reward Clemson and FSU?

JDog,

Love the FSU banter you provide on this board but the exit fee could be lowered to a $1 and FSU would not be a take for BIG because it’s not an AAU member, does not bring enough market share to sweeten tv contracts, not top 3 desired from ACC (ND, UNC and UVA) and not top one desired in the state of FL (I.e. Miami) and was a big turn off with school leadership that throws its member league under the bus in public. The overarching factor for the SEC not wanting FSU is because it already owns the market.

Unless FSU would be attracted to join the B12 which they would no doubt want FSU, FSU has no choice but to smooth things over with the ACC for years to come.

GO RU
I would agree with this too.

JMike

Amazing how there aren't any threads devoted to him today. I guess the JMike negatoids, of which there a lot, especially the poster who claimed William Patterson was his level, still have their heads in the sand. The kid was flat out Rutgers best player on the court today, and probably their second best player against NW. The kid is a legit D1 PG who is only going to get better. He can get the ball to whatever spot on the court he wants to whenever he wants to, and he makes everyone around him better, the two main things a PG needs to do. He was pretty much uncoverable today and he's had only 2-3 turnovers in the last two games. I said a week or so ago that RU can still have some nice wins this year if JMike plays the one and Harper the two, and JMike also needs to play 35 minutes per game. He's was playing as fast today at the end as he was at the beginning.

Shout out to bac. That is now two of the last four for the SOPHOMORE.
I said it when they were complaining that he wasn’t close to JY when JY was like 22 when playing for us. He is getting better and better and I hope he stays here.

Recruiting

DT has been a mentor of sort to Bo and Jax since they were little kids. I don't think PSU will ever be the option just because he's another person on the assembly line. Iowa got destroyed the other day, so I don't think they're in the convo. Bo spoke of great history, so that take VTech out. OKST has to be it.

They're like the best of both worlds. He'll have two coaches that had senior success plus first hand experience with both Brands and Cael. Also, I think by not being in the Big 10, it's sort of the easier place to commit to.

It was wishful thinking, but I think he and Jax go to the same place. We didn't have much with Jax.

But, it was nice to see our logo as an option until the -48 hrs until the decision. I think that can actually help. I still love where this team is headed!
Not having us in final 4 was a bit of a gut punch w all those guys saying “ RU is a finalist book it blah blah”.

Okie state just landed p4p #3 Ross if they get Bo and Jax that’s p4p #1,2,3 in a class don’t think that has ever happened before… either way feels like DT is the only guy that can knock off Penn state..

OT: New ACC Deal To Reward Clemson and FSU?

This kind of dialogue - the constant carping at the ACC - explains why the Big Ten and SEC do not want FSU.
LOL
That literally as zero do with it
It's about dollars and cents

As big of a pain in the ass as Texas and ND are, both the SEC (which already jumped at them) and the B1G (which would jump on them in a heartbeat) have had / would have zero issues taking them

It's about who can make the conferences the most money
Not whose feelings get hurt or what school was mean to another (hell, the SEC screwed over Aggie a few years after admitting them by taking Bevo)

It did not cost the ACC money. As I explained before in my previous post, back at that time ESPN was syndicating some of it's college football programming. They did that with other conferences, even including the SEC. It was a common practice back at that time.

With the syndication deals, ESPN had already paid the conferences for those rights. ESPN just resold them to a syndication outlet. Again, they did the exact same thing with the SEC at that time as well. Nobody lost any money on that. They were paid for those rights by ESPN. All ESPN did was just syndicate them.

If you're trying to claim that the ACC could have sold those rights that were syndicated to Raycom to someone else, no they cannot have. They already sold them to ESPN.

Simply adding that ESPN recently sold off two CFB playoff games to Warner Brothers. Common practice - as you said.

I haven't read the lawsuit, but I'd assume it did cost the ACC money as they could have sold it to someone else, and / or for a higher amount, yet it went to Raycom (otherwise, why would FSU put it in the lawsuit, and why was Swofford shitting his pants when the info became public)?

Furthermore, it's nepotism at its finest and wreaks of corruption, which, coming from that institution, is not the least bit surprising
