Basketball Rutgers fends off NJIT behind Destiny Adams' career game in foul-filled win

Hah! This is a cup cake game, play good D on the perimeter and don't let them take open 3's. They also struggled with Manhattan and Cornell, excuses for a team that was 8-24 last year and 2-16 in conference. So what's your prediction for their record this season?
My prediction is you did not watch any of the games but you are great at looking at box scores and picking up one line from an article.

If you did watch any of them please give a quick assessment.

Rutgers players donned scarlet because no orange ribbon was available. So scarlet it was.
Later it was noted that the family crest of William of Orange featured the color red. Mix red and orange makes scarlet, which seemed appropriate.
And this is why our red should look like the KC Chiefs red. THAT is scarlet. Just because the PRINT version standardized by Rutgers for use on stationary and so on is a particular Pantone color, that color is not the red-orange scarlet we adopted. That pantone color is to make things more readable onm signs and paper.. not to so bright like a true red-orange.

Good to finally see something but a long way to go.
Based on the Delaware and Schuylkill rivers near me I'm guessing there will be no Washington Crossing this Christmas unless things change fairly quickly.

The discussion of how fires are started is interesting. The fire in Jackson Twsp was started at a firing range by a guy that was using illegal ammunition. That's a new one to me!

A couple of years ago we had a group of fools target practicing out in the sagebrush (about 90 miles SE of Bend OR) using exploding targets! Started a +/- 10,000 acre wildfire. They were identified and had to pay for the costs of damage and fire suppression. Duh!

Out first game was widely documented and there is clear historical evidence. Colleges began to form rules committees (Rutgers, Princeton, Columbia, Yale) in the first few years after we played Princeton, so 1875 was WAY after colleges were already playing each other.

Even more importantly, we also invented tailgating. :) and I also believe school colors.

Scarlet Jerry
Wouldn't Princeton have the nod for tailgating having taken wagon rides.. yeah, wagon rides, 17 miles up the Kings Road to play in that first game? Or maybe we both get credit for tailgating because we fed them but they get credit for first road game.

OT: 2024 NY Giants Season Thread

No sense in continuing to run Jones out there. He was terrible yesterday and bad overall this season.

I have little interest in watching Lock. Especially given how bad he looked vs Philly.

But id like to see Devito. See if he can build on his play from last year.
As RUfromNJ puts it, the only reason to sit Jones in favor of someone else is avoiding the injury guarantee. I'm not interested in Lock, and Devito isn't the answer. And if we played one of them, and that player provided a mini-bump in performance, that would be worse. Like last year. The Giants had a pointless 3-3 year-end that moved them out of position to draft a QB and left us stranded right where we are now. What a disaster this franchise is right now.

Rule #1 - if you don't watch, be quiet. NJIT was red hot on 3"s. It can happen with any team regardless of the name on the front of the jersey.
