Tyreem Powell- Good Read

I have said it before but I am so glad our son played before all of this opting out. The bowl experience was such a great thing for players, families and fans.
But to be honest- if he was going through it now- The various College All Star games are so much more important than a bowl game for a guy looking to make the NFL. We would have had to seriously consider if playing a bowl would be worth it.
The bowls are for your teammates and your school/fans . The all star games are all about individual advancement. Kids today have to make that decision. As a player you could not keep me away from a bowl game . Just the way I rolled .

One thing lost in the shuffle about Saturday

No it was the Big Ten being targeted by his rant.

He was right. People in LI aren't rushing home to watch two teams who aren't national brands.

The most perplexed thing is people like you have stored that comment in your head for all these years when the war ended on Nov 19th, 2012. We won dude! Wake up. Time to turn the page! Jesus some of you have issues!
You are wrong on multiple levels here. But I give up.

Fox’s Big Noon Saturday is broken, but don’t expect anyone to fix it

Isn’t the “traditional” CFB start time 12pm?

Every other thread on every CFB board is bemoaning the lack of “tradition” anymore in the college athletics (NIL, music, game day operations, games on streaming).

But this “tradition” needs to be thrown out I guess.
There's this new tech called electricity. Noon games were due to stadiums not having lights and trying to squeeze in as many TV windows, not a welcome tradition that should be continued.
Wow- stay classy Penn State fans, changing "F---- Big Noon."

@NickRU714 --tradition aside, some fair points that we see on this board often about noon starts. Can't imagine how crappy it must be to be in the midwest with an 11 a.m. kickoff. Oh, the horror!!!

But these points in the article are sound:
----It’s an unfriendly start time to fans who want to tailgate all day,
----it’s a nightmare for students,
----the stadium energy and homefield advantage is not the same,
----and let’s just be honest – the aura of a primetime game on campus vastly exceeds an early afternoon kickoff.

-----
The reality is that the start times need to be spread out with so many games of interest. They all can't start at 3:30, 4 or 7:30 or 8 p.m.

Rave on.
Rather than 12, 330/4, 730/8, they should at least bump it an hour to 1, 430, 8 (similar to NFL windows). The atmosphere for later games is far better and tailgating is a huge part of the overall college game experience that keeps people coming back, especially here and other schools that aren't as successful as the tOSUs. They could also look at limiting the number of times a team plays noon games, so everyone gets a similar number but that's very unlikely.

Hated the Scoreboard Music PA production

Stupid post. Several people including myself have agreed with Insanity’s post and feel the same way, yet you keep trying to insult other fans and pick fights on this topic. And don’t give me the data nonsense as you and I both know there will be no analytics nerd sitting in the corner crunching numbers on this issue ever. What’s your problem other than insisting on being the board contrarian on this topic?
Why so salty over someone having a different opinion? People argue over all kinds of stuff and I made one gentle insult at bac (called him grandpa - so mean, lol). Seems like you're the one hurling the insults. I have no "problem" other than not being fond of people stating their opinions as if they are facts and I tend to call BS on such things. While I also didn't like "Bring em out" over the fight song (fact), I didn't think the canned music was way louder than in the past or that the band played less - maybe I'm wrong on that, but that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. I also tend to get annoyed at people complaining about every little thing in the football and hoops game experiences outside of the game outcomes - very little bothers me I guess.

Fox’s Big Noon Saturday is broken, but don’t expect anyone to fix it

Okay, now I don't feel as bad about having 5 noon home games this year:

But Penn State has nothing on what OSU fans are experiencing as Fox looks to the “world famous” Ohio State Buckeyes to almost exclusively carry the burden of Big Noon Saturday for the network.

When Ohio State vs Indiana was announced as a Big Noon game on Monday, the entire Buckeye Nation rebelled against it as it means Ohio State will end the season playing six straight noon kickoffs with five of them happening on Fox’s Big Noon Saturday.

But it’s not just that. Ohio State received just one primetime home game this year. It was against Western Michigan on Big Ten Network. In fact, all but four of their games this season will have been noon games on Fox or BTN.

OT: Stock and Investment Talk

That is an overly simplified view. The details of such a change would take hundreds or thousands of pages of legislation to properly describe in detail.

Nobody in this forum, right, left or whatever, is going to have the information and education and experience necessary to objectively assess all the possible outcomes of a move to defederalize education.

The question is if you think Trump or Musk will actually take the time to find people with that knowledge, who aren’t ideologically motivated but are objectively data-driven, to figure it all out and do anything useful. Which means trusting two billionaires, who’ve demonstrated only self-interest their entire lives, to suddenly start caring about anybody else but themselves.

‘Cause that is an easy question to answer. Thus I laugh at people who idolize or worship such persons.
I'm not a fan of either guy.

But I can't help but be intrigued at what effect Musk will have on gov't efficiency. And I put aside what he is sure to gain from this as I think, from a gov't bottom line perspective, the gains will far outweigh the ill's.

OT: New York Mets 2024-2025 Off Season Thread

Which brings up a trivia question:

The 2014 Mets had three players whose last name begins with lower case "d". Probably an MLB record, although I couldn't swear to it.

I just gave you one of them. You know the second guy. He won Rookie of the Year that year, on his way to two Cy Youngs.

CAN YOU NAME THE THIRD?

Hint available on request.
