Poor NIL is the biggest reason for our disappointing season

Another thought, there were 17,000 plus at msg yesterday. Many love their Knights. But success also generates donations. Had they built on the 2019-2021 success I feel NIL wouldn’t really be a problem. Instead poor recruiting, poor player development and retention, all but ignoring offensive talent and schemes until this year and now we’ve completed the bell curve of basement-good-basement in about 4-5 year increments.
This times a million in a nutshell. We didn't build on the success. Instead we got Reiber, Palmquist, Jaden Jones, Jalen Miller, Austin Williams, Noah Fernandes . . . and so forth.

Add thiof uninformed threads. Again and admittedly I only know a small sample of true money folks but I can promise you they all know Pike personally.
Obviously he hasn't done a good enough job convincing them to donate the big bucks he really needed this year. Or expanded his network, as Greg did. Otherwise we wouldn't be in this CF.

Poor NIL is the biggest reason for our disappointing season

Where is PIKE going out on a limb and meeting donors face to face (esp ones with money)? Schiano goes out and builds relationships. Pike hasn’t. It was absolutely criminal that with all the time he knew Harper and Ace were coming that he couldn’t get enough money for a competent surrounding cast.
Add this one to your long list of uninformed threads. Again and admittedly I only know a small sample of true money folks but I can promise you they all know Pike personally.

Would you rather have Scott Rolen or David Wright on your team?
Your question walks directly past the issue of his injury and how his productive years were cut short. So, for instance, if I were to remain quiet about that too and simply assume that you're talking about the 2014-18 David Wright, I get to easily say Rolen.

That's the point, isn't it? David was on his way but the injury killed any chance he has for the Hall. Now, if the first 10 years of David's career had been like Koufax's first 10 years, he'd be in. But he wasn't that good, and then his production fell off the cliff with the injury. So I don't see him getting in.

Not having an alternative plan is a big problem !

The argument against your post is that the Mets do want Alonso back as it’s not solely the fans wanting him back.

As the cards are now - the Mets are a better team with Alonso than without him given the current roster and given the current free agent options.

Boras knows this and hence the current stalemate !
What big problem? Who says that they don't have an alternative plan? More than an alternative plan, I'm confident that they have a broad plan on how to build the system and the team, and that fans are just reactionary.

Next you say that the Mets do want Alonso back. Again, that's amateur fan talk. I'm sure that the Mets have a broad plan and that Alonso fits into it at the right price, years, and terms, but then that he doesn't fit into it when those things are wrong.

But you think differently and are announcing the ways in which the Mets will be better or worse, all focused on Alonso. Forgive me if I put my money on Stearns and not a fan getting that right.
