One of those names that sounds super familiar but you just can't place it.
While it would be great if Kirk can grab his first choice - Brian Callahan - if he should get turned down or it's too expensive, Ed Warriner is a name that should be on the hot board - for many of the wrong reasons
Back when OSU had its first great version of its high flying offense, it was Tom Herman and then OL turned coordinator Ed Warriner who were responsible, with Warriner implementing a huge turnaround on the line. I believe he would have overlapped with Greg in his first year, but at a minimum, he spent 4 years with Urban.
He was hired ( or fired) away by Minnesota in 2017 to be their OL coach, and he may have overlapped with Kirk when he first got there.
He then spent over 2 years as OL coach at Michigan and now is at FAU, which seems like a bit of a comedown after 7 years in the BIG10.
One could say that his career has been on the decline since 2014, and the OP isn't meant as an endorsement, but rather, this is the type of retread hire that is typical of Greg, someone that he has 2 degrees or less of separation with, and possibly, KC may have overlapped with him as well. Not sure of the personal relationship, if any, between EW and KC, but they are similar in age, they both seem to be old school (along with Greg)
This very much has the fingerprints of a safe Greg hire, Callahan or Stapleton would be too much of a home run hire for Rutgers to get 🙂
