Watching some Mountain West basketball on FS1 after B1G game ended (MSU ILL). Wow. All I can say is this seems like a different sport. Not better, or worse, than Big Ten basketball, but it’s amazing to see how much different the game is between conferences.

If I had to somehow describe it, I would say this game is more NBA like, but with smaller less NBA like players. Lots of 3s raining, quick passes, not a whole lot of physical defense. But every single player can shoot the ball. BUT, they all seem shorter and less muscular than B1G players.

Also, refs completely a non factor which makes you realize how bad B1G officiating really is, which is that they really like to make themselves part of the show.

The obvious favorites are Jim Phillips and Gene Smith. Tim Pernetti will get a look. He was seriously in the mix for NCAA President and was the Big 12 Commish runner-up.

Some folks recently commented about Pike's press conferences - how they're often poor and vague. In his defense, Pike's body language may suggest that he is not entirely comfortable with public speaking, which is a VERY common phobia. A majority of communication is nonverbal - he often shifts in his seat, arms are crossed, head is down, and he makes minimal eye contact. Regardless, he's got RU men's basketball cooking!

Edit: OK...so it sounds like last night's read was innacurate. Fair enough. I admittedly have not seen Pike in many settings - i.e. media day pressers, etc...and can understand how after a 40 minute grind, the staff and team just want to decompress. Go RU!

More video reviews should be allowed for out-of-bounds situations, to see who touched the ball last.

The last 2minutes may be too late for either team to wait for an automatic review, when a key possession controversy occurs with say, 4 minutes left.

Either that or give each head coach one challenge per half.

Don’t want to see games unnecessarily prolonged, but getting it right should be a priority.

We all know that Paul is an extremely intelligent player. Whether he purposely flopped on Wednesday is not the issue. What does count is that the referees called two flops and Northwestern had a chance to take two free throws. We still won the game. My guess is that Paul will learn from this almost disaster and going forward will stop doing what the refs considered flopping.

This board is good on advice or help!
I’ve miraculously gone my whole life without a joint injury of any kind.
Played multiple sports at high levels including squash in my later years.
Never had a knee, ankle, wrist, shoulder or hip injury….ever.
All of a sudden I have an inflamed Achilles Tendon that according to my doctor after X Rays is not in jeopardy of rolling up on me.
I’m quite functional, I just can’t run.
Physical therapy makes it feel better but the swelling (which is obvious) when I compare my ankles is not going away.
I can play golf, carry my bag and still walk the dog…. No real issues.
Anyone ever dealt with this, I’ve been told by people Achilles Tendons are unlike any other tendon in your body, even if you rest it and do nothing it can stay inflamed.
God forbid I need a boot…..HELP😊

The undisputed leader of these team. Period.

We also learned that Hyatt needs more minutes, because we need SCORING!

There’s been a ton of speculation on this board during and after games so I don’t want this thread to downplay how Cliff’s defense and rebounding in the 2nd half last night was great.
If in fact any of your core players are compromised….IMO, it should be noted and communicated by the coach.
The viewing public and media should never have to watch a player struggle and have to speculate something is wrong with him….it’s doing a disservice to the player.
It’s important a coach acknowledges a young man is playing through an injury and gutting up for the team.
As for those who believe revealing an injury helps the opponent game plan or attack the affected player, I say through my experience it doesn’t not, as a matter of fact, we actually feared supposedly injured players, as they were the ones who seemed to step up at big moments.
Players at this level know immediately (if not sooner)😊…when the guy they are playing against isn’t right or moving normally…If Cliff is hurting Ohio St. already knows it and will plan accordingly for Cliff, then the supposedly hurt Cliff can swat, rebound and dunk on them leaving them to say, I thought Cliff was hurt!
That’s my take.

The safety risks posed by heavy electric vehicles in any collision with lighter vehicles has pushed the head of the National Transportation Safety Board to issue a general warning to all road users.

The official, Jennifer Homendy, raised the issue in a speech in Washington to the Transportation Research Board. AP reports she pointed, by way as an example, to an electric GMC Hummer that weighs about 9,000 pounds with a battery pack that alone is 2,900 pounds — roughly the entire weight of a typical Honda Civic.

“I’m concerned about the increased risk of severe injury and death for all road users from heavier curb weights and increasing size, power, and performance of vehicles on our roads, including electric vehicles,” Homendy said in remarks prepared for the group.

The extra weight EVs typically carry stems from the outsize mass of their batteries. To achieve 300 or more miles of range per charge from an EV, batteries have to weigh thousands of pounds, the AP report sets out.

Homendy said her worries about safety risks stem from a steady proliferation of EVs on roads ands highways.

“We have to be careful that we aren’t also creating unintended consequences: More death on our roads,” she said. “Safety, especially when it comes to new transportation policies and new technologies, cannot be overlooked.”

The official noted Ford’s F-150 Lightning EV pickup is 2,000 to 3,000 pounds heavier than the same model’s combustion version. The Mustang Mach E electric SUV and the Volvo XC40 EV, she said, are roughly 33 percent heavier than their gasoline counterparts.

“That has a significant impact on safety for all road users,” Homendy added.
Reuters reports acting NHTSA Administrator Ann Carlson told reporters Monday the agency was studying the impact of vehicle size on roadway safety.

Carlson said the agency was “very concerned” about the “degree to which heavier vehicles contribute to greater fatality rates,” further noting some subscribe to the “mantra that bigger is safer” but that did not necessarily take into account other factors.

We are so fixated on teaching launch angles and bat speed off a tee today we forget the most important aspect of hitting that allows you to get into those positions without thinking.
Seeing the ball out of the pitchers hand, even picking up his fingers is vital.
My dad saw the ball sooner than anyone and it allowed him to swing seemingly late.
Players today commit themselves so soon they have no control of their swing.
I don’t think Donaldson from the Yankees even tried to pick up the baseball.
