Basketball For those curious...

BartTorvik, one of the top college basketball analytics databases, recently launched women's basketball rankings. Rutgers ranks 97th nationally preseason, and features schedule projections as well. Looks like the schedule/player stat projections are still a work in progress, but I imagine all of those will be up eventually as well. Check them out here:

NDIANAPOLIS – A preseason power ranking for a conference with four new members and a revolving door of talent seems almost futile.

Check back on this list in March and it may look futile, too. Purdue may be the consensus favorite, but four other teams received No. 1 votes in

Time to open up the offense and simplify the defense

Because this defense isn’t stopping anyone. If we’re going to go down, let’s at least make it fun. Time to go 4 and 5 receivers wide. Duff, Strong, Black, Dremel, and Miller can all Ball. Dremel and Duff are better than our opponents 4th and 5th DBs. No more rock fights. Let’s aim to score 40 -50 points. We opened up the offense in 2008, and it paid dividends, and landed us in a bowl game. The same can happen this year.

Athan threw for 313 yards vs USC. He can throw for 300-400 yards against each of our remaining opponents.

Opening the Offense is playing to our strengths. Duff and Black have grown up, and are ready to go. Have to get better at converting red zone opportunities.

On defense, let’s go man-man. Too many times, kids are confused as to their assignment, and receivers are running free. UCLA caught us. USC caught us. This cannot continue if we are to be successful, and our remaining opponents don’t have the athletes USC has, so it’s an opportune time to be more aggressive. Let’s get it!

If we’re going to go down, might as well go down swinging.
