I LIKE PIKE tees and buttons are back!

...but we never really left!

Just did a recent restock of tees and new button design for the stretch run. We have tees available sized M thru XXL. Also available on the site are 100% authentic pieces of the RAC playing surface from 2018 and MINT/SEALED vinyl copies of "Run, Rutgers, Run" from 1976.

Remember, literally every penny we raise (I pay for the costs to print and ship everything we sell) goes directly to our Student Managers as part of our now ongoing Student Manager Scholarship Initiative.

If demand is overwhelming, I will print more, so order away! Thank you!

Only scoring 60ish

Earlier in year I said great defense and scoring in 60% is a winning formula and was ridiculed.

We are 4-2 in b10 with the OSU theft really 5-1 doing just this.

We’ve held every opponent at least 6 under their scoring average.

Playing defense like we do also cuts down on possessions as we force teams to use most of shot click.

I love the formula and watching this team.

Football Quick update on a OL coach candidate….

According to a source, Rutgers has reached out to Florida offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton recently about the open position on staff.

However I’m being told that he will not be leaving Florida and a significant pay raise will be coming his way in the near future.

This was one of a couple offers this offseason for Stapleton and Napier will do whatever it takes to keep him.

Why Is This Team Winning On The Road?

The road struggles for RU have been well chronicled over the past several seasons. I don't think anyone saw this year's squad as one to change that narrative especially after losing the Miami game.

The way this group plays as a team is something different than the last few years. Maybe they had no choice with the loss of Geo & RHJ. But the impact has been tremendous.

They should have 3 B1G road wins already. And these were all against quality opponents. And they are still early in conference play so a few more will likely occur.

Looking down the road, this could be a very good sign for an NCAA tournament run.

Rutgers Hoops/Simpson article - Philly Inquirer

Great to see Rutgers basketball getting some press down in the Philly/South Jersey market.

I actually reached out to them after their article on the Clearview OL committing to Rutgers Football asking for some press on Rutgers basketball and specifically mentioned Simpson :)

Zone Last Night

We switched to it for a few minutes last night, and at 1st glance it appears it did not work well.
Believe NW hit 2 or 3 3-pointers. However watching it, the 3-point shots were actually heavily contested, but just "went in".

I know we are not a zone team, nor will we often use it.
Curious though everyone's thought about whether we should have gone back to it for some time in the 2nd half.
When we started piling up fouls in the middle of the 2nd half, thought it might be good to revert back to it for a few minutes (by nature think we get less fouls).

I wonder if the 3-pointers they hit against us in the 1st half against the zone played into Pike's decision not to return to it?
Also know they do not play many subs, and Pike also may be thinking to keep waring them down by playing press + man.

Roger Ayers - Ref in Ohio State Debacle

I yelled at him before the game right before Tip off about the out of bounds non call vs Ohio State and I got a Charles Manson psycho look from him like how dare I yell at him for such an egregious error.

For those that don't know, he's a very highly regarded and highly rated ref primarily reffing ACC and sometimes Big East games and now also doing Big 10 games.

He did give us a favorable non call today late in 2nd half when Cliff jumped and literally jumped over the top of Rebraca's head under the basket and he incredibly did not call a foul on Cliff.

He did show a bit of humor later in the game when I was hounding him about 3 second violations - and he gave me the 1-2-3 hand signal.

At least,no blaming the refs today. They reffed an overall good game with even Eric Curry (whit haired ref) being objective.

Perspective: This will be better for resume then Indiana win…

Unless NW and Indianas paths change, and as long as the committee can look past the name on the Jerseys, this win likely ends up doing more for our resume then Indiana

What keeps me very optimistic is I still don’t think we played great. Obviously some of that can be credited to NW, but I have to imagine McConnell won’t play this poorly for long. And was Woolfolk hurt or suspended?
